Sister Zombie, A Memoir by Anna Appleby

I was recommended this podcast by a few people and after giving it a listen i totally get the hype!! Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this over the last couple of weeks and am not sure what’s gonna fill the space now except maybe a re-listen. I’m sure that would be much rewarded. The writing is fantastic - hysterical, mysterious and well crafted. I also really enjoyed the SFX and music as i felt they added a particularly effective element to the tone and emotion of the characters. I won’t give away too much of the plot except to say it’s a bedtime story for these times!!

I’d be willing to bet that it’s going a little better than Anna Appleby’s Friday. From the opening lines of Episode 1, Anna let’s you know the type of tale you are about to be witness to. This sucked me in, made me laugh, cringe and made my jaw drop, time after time! I love the writing, the production value that makes it a very acoustically enthralling adventure, and the narrator who does a great job with the many different voices. Each character is so well written and voiced that the story world feels tangible.

My friend sent me this is a link, saying although she knew it wasn’t my preferred genre, she thought I’d get a kick out of it and she was right. As a fan of 19th century fiction, I enjoyed the way this podcast combined the feeling of Jane Austen with a lot of modern sensibilities, subtle music, and just enough of the macabre to keep things lively.

Great binge listen - Dark, funny and doesn't cease to entertain. Especially enjoy how well the music/sounds perfectly compliment and accentuate the drama of the characters' stories.
