But even with captivating storylines, stars and results, will the tournament's impact fade after a humbling United States loss in the round of 16? On this edition of District of Sports, George Gerbo and Liam Griffin examine where soccer in the States goes from here and whether it can gain a greater foothold in the national sports consciousness. The already soccer-mad DMV has potential upgrades coming to its primary venue, Audi Field. The guys discuss the recent plan floated by D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson to invest more than $600 million into adding a roof and expanding the home of D.C. Finally, George and Liam discuss Washington Capitals' captain Alex Ovechkin's decision to return for a 22nd season and his place in the pantheon of all-time D.C. pro athletes.
