Episode 8: No White Saviors (Tara Winkler)

This episode Genna Chanelle Hayes talks to the inspirational Tara Winkler, and they discuss the groundbreaking work Tara has accomplished alongside Cambodians as they deconstruct colonial systems, and return power to the people through building sustainable systems that ensure an independent, thriving future for local communities free from Western interference.  Other topics discuss include White Saviourism, how to move with acute awareness when navigating healing spaces, and the depths of unlearning required in order rebuild institutions that cater to all peoples. - Guest Biography Tara Winkler is the co-founder of Cambodian Children's Trust (CCT), which she established in 2007 with Pon Jedtha to help 14 children escape an abusive orphanage. Over the last 14 years, she has led CCT through a number of significant organisational changes, including the transition from orphanage to a family welfare model, called the Village Hive. Today, CCT is a grassroots, community-led organisation that is focused on shifting power to local communities to achieve sustainable, systemic change. Episode 7: The Divine Masculine (Nic Tovey)

Nic Tovey is a Psychotherapist, coach, teacher and author and has been supporting men, women, couples and young people for the last 12 years. After humble beginnings growing up in the north of England Nic joined the Royal Navy at 16 in search of adventure and this thing called “manhood”. He then left the military 5 years later to travel the world and pursue adventure on his own terms. Soon after this he experienced a life threatening violent assault and subsequent experience with PTSD and severe depression. This tumultuous time then inspired Nic to embark on a journey of self healing, which eventually took him to do the work he does now. Nic has been especially passionate about supporting men and boys to challenge the old, outdated and often harmful ideas of what it means to “be a man”. He encourages men and boys to discover their authentic expression of manhood free from shame and pretence, and this is the core theme of his new book The (R)Evolutionary Man.  • This is another not-to-be-missed episode of @thelovingpodcast with Genna Chanelle Hayes in support of @topblokesfoundation ✨ CREDITS This podcast is produced and presented by One Love Films Bondi.
