LTO 262 | Is There Going to Be a Quest 4? Meta's "Major Breakthrough" Rule

What's up Oculus nerds! Meta says it won't ship another VR headset without a "major breakthrough," and Quest 2 and Quest Pro just reached the end of feature development. So is there going to be a Quest 4, and should you wait for one? We get into Meta's numbers ($9.32 lost for every $1 Reality Labs made last quarter), the 70/30 split between glasses and VR, and the other options: Steam Frame, Pico and Pimax. Then: Built to Last. Schell Games cut 49 more jobs, an indie VR game made $22K in its first three weeks, and we look at which VR studios are still standing and what the survivors have in common. Plus your comments on VR mods (Titanfall 2 VR), the October Steam Hardware Survey, Ultrawings twice, the games out this week and what we've been playing. Correction: Steam's survey page lists the Steam Frame at 5.49% of VR headsets for October, not the 4.13% we read on the show. This week's poll: will Meta release a new VR headset before the end of 2028? Answer in the Spotify poll or the comments, we read them on the show.
