    The First Five Days

Usually when you talk with someone in recovery, they've got some "time" under their belt. But every person with long-term sobriety started out with minutes, hours, and days. Rarely do you get the chance to hear this perspective - when the decision to get help is fresh and the hopes and fears that come with that are new. In this episode we sit down with three Step Denver residents who are in their first five days. Meet Kyle, Joe, and Adam...

    Staying Connected

Brandon went from being a student at FIT in New York City and living it up in VIP lounges of the hottest clubs to being diagnosed with a serious illness that nearly took his life. At his lowest, Brandon was walking the streets of Denver with nothing and nowhere to turn. Today, he has a life he didn’t think possible. This is Brandon’s story - of coming out to his mother and father (a pastor), of lessons learned on the long path to recovery, and on how he has managed to stay sober (hint: the key is in the title). #Addiction #Recovery #Sober #12Step #PeerRecovery #Sobriety

Keith lived most of his life feeling caught between two worlds: one of the only persons of color in his school while living in a black neighborhood, having a white collar job while being an active gang member. A quest to be “part of” contributed to Keith’s progressive disease of addiction and he carried guilt and shame from the tragic consequences. Today Keith is the Director of Recovery for 5280 High School in Denver. This is his incredible story and what exactly he did to break free.

    Down the Rabbit Hole

Sean's story is a cautionary tale often told to teens. In his case it was absolutely true - with very real consequences and a fast downward spiral. It all started with a kid offering him a pill on the school bus... "game over." By senior year of high school... "absolute spiral." But it doesn't end there. This is Sean's experience.  #Addiction #Recovery #Sober #12Step #PeerRecovery #Sobriety

    Incomprehensibly Demoralizing

Abe grew up in a middle class Mormon family in Colorado. Compounded by feelings he had about his homosexuality, drinking in his early teens turned into destructive addiction in his twenties. Domestic abuse, run-ins with the law, irreparable family conflict, consequences piling up... and then, recovery. This is Abe's story. And his message for those still in the struggle. #Addiction #Recovery #Sober #12Step #PeerRecovery #Sobriety
