Ep 273 - Battle for the Planet of the Apes and The Connecticut River Valley Killer

Send us Fan Mail This week on Nerdery and Murdery, Zig returns to the world of Caesar for the fifth and final film in the original Planet of the Apes series: Battle for the Planet of the Apes! Years after humanity has devastated itself, Caesar is trying to build something new from the ruins: a society where apes and humans might actually coexist. But between the radioactive survivors of the old world and General Aldo's growing hunger for power, peace may prove harder to create than Caesar ever imagined. Then Geoffrey continues his A–Z Serial Killers Across America journey with New Hampshire and one of the strangest entries yet: The Connecticut River Valley Killer. Between 1978 and 1987, seven murdered women in New Hampshire and Vermont became commonly associated with a suspected serial killer. Then, in 1988, twenty-two-year-old Jane Boroski was stabbed twenty-seven times while seven months pregnant. Jane survived. Her unborn daughter survived. And Jane was able to describe the man who attacked her. Nearly four decades later, no one has been convicted of the attack, the murders remain unsolved, and investigators cannot even say with certainty that all of the cases were committed by the same person. This week, one story asks whether humans and apes can finally stop destroying one another. The other asks whether the monster we've been looking for was ever just one man at all.
