Eyre-Leigh Doors

Louise Leigh & Pauline Eyre

Comedians Pauline Eyre and Louise Leigh use their famous Dimension Matrix (or Dominatrix, aka The Salad Spinner of Destiny) to give their guests the chance to visit other dimensions and choose one to live in forever. Eyre-Leigh Doors is a comedy game show/chat show mash up that gives guests the chance to talk about their hopes and dreams, their embarrassing moments, their greatest triumphs and the people they would - and wouldn't - like to share them with if they had their chance. Guests have the chance to choose just one dimension to live in - one door to walk through. But the catch is, they don't get to hear all the options before they choose! Will they opt to relive their worst ever day but spend it with their heroes? Or achieve their wildest professional goals in the company of Nobby Nosepicker from school? It's a case of Choose it or Lose it! Pauline and Louise met in early 2020 when they shared a midlife comedy moment - one of the last shows before the Corona Virus. It took a year of chatting and developing an entirely different set of ideas before settling on this fun format. Both took up comedy in midlife, and bring a richness of life experience - and silliness - to the table. "Such fun to do! A really ace format" Mark Olver "Dynamite!" Stu Goldsmith It's pronounced Early Doors basically. Early Doors Podcast. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

    Angela Barnes In Ambridge

PAULINE'S BOOK! Welcome to the Eyre-Leigh Doors community! Here’s what’s in your show today:  It’s the incredible Angela Barnes. A Mock the Week regular, Radio 4 stalwart and one of the funniest comics on the circuit today, she gave us her all!  We talk a little about “Open Spots”. These are non-professional comedians who often travel many miles to do 10 minutes comedy in a draughty village hall for nothing but the love of the game. Gill Edwards’ Comedy Course details here Boris Johnson in a greasy spoon, a deep dive into the culture of Ambridge. Peter Oborne on the Newsquiz - here’s a Reddit thread about it So much chat about how Angela feels about her recent ADHD diagnosis and neurodivergence in general (a topic v close to Louise’s heart!)  Linda Smith - here’s a video of her on Have I Got News for You that will remind you that nothing much changes in politics, although a lot has changed in representation of women on TV!  Fascinating stuff about nuclear bunkers!  We try to give Angela her dream come true. But will she take it?  Who’s our guest and how can you reach them on the socials?  Our Social media links:  Find Eyre Leigh Doors online on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and now Tiktok, for goodness sake!  Find Louise Leigh on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and also on Tiktok, this is her finest work Catch up with Pauline Eyre on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram Anyone else we want to tell you about? Rachel Creeger

Welcome to the Eyre-Leigh Doors community! Here’s what’s in your show today:  Much discussion of kneidlach, without any discussion of what they actually are! They’re super tasty matzo balls that go in traditional Jewish chicken soup. Yum!  And the song about Zaidy.  A wolf of a headteacher, and at one point Louise asserts that Frazzles are vegan. This is NOT TRUE. Repeat, NOT TRUE. They are, however, vegetarian. Does that make them kosher? They have milk in, so… maybe? I dunno. I’m not a rabbi. The image of Adam Ant that lived in Rachel’s cupboard, Taika Waititi the perfect podcast guest.  Valerie Landsburg - if you don’t know who she is, AND WHY WOULD YOU! Here she is singing 80s banger, Hi Fidelity from The Kids from Fame.  Jewish mothering, Dave Chapelle and why men and woman can’t be friends. If you know, you know.  Victoria Wood, of course.   Who’s our guest and how can you reach them on the socials?  Rachel Creeger. And here’s the bit about the drunk girl from a nightclub toilet (watch til the end)  We talk dancing like nobody’s watching, even if people are watching.  Doing the voices when you’re reading to your kids. There is a song of the Going on A Bear Hunt that predates the MIchael Rosen book.  Frank talk about frank talk.  Some Christmas content and also Robin Williams.  Who’s our guest and how can you reach them on the socials?  You can find out about Felicty at https://www.felicityward.com/ @FelicityWard on Twitter and Instagram, you can listen to her cricket podcast probably here  Read a stunning review of Aussie series Wakefield here  Our Social media links:  Find Eyre Leigh Doors online on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and now Tiktok, for goodness sake!  Find Louise Leigh on Twitter, Facebook  and Instagram and also on Tiktok, this is her finest work Catch up with Pauline Eyre on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram What now for you, lovely listener?  We love that you’ve listened, whether for the first time or if you’re a returning listener. David Ferguson is an Action Figure not a dolly

Show notes for: David Ferguson Welcome to the Eyre-Leigh Doors community! Here’s what’s in your show today:  David Ferguson is a London-based comic from Northern Ireland. And a lovely episode it is too. It features Joan Crawford, Reverend Ian Paisley, the miracle that is Maria Bamford and the delights of a young Brendan Fraser. And you can’t say that about any other podcast, can you? You can watch Maria Bamford’s specials on Netflix if you are so inclined. Be so inclined, seriously, do.  This is an old one, with 8 scenarios and even Pauline doing the sound effects - it’s vintage quality.  Iain Duncan Smith solving housing problems instead of shagging them up for a change.  We discussed Simon Cowell and Britain’s Got Talent; we talked Cary Grant and other golden age of Hollywood stuff; what you’d give up to work with your heroes and loads more besides. We also discussed working in a sex shop and how close to therapy retail can be.  Who’s our guest and how can you reach them on the socials?  David Ferguson is @dafergisfunny on most things. He’s bringing a show around the festivals of this country this year and you can find it here.  Our Social media links:  Find Eyre Leigh Doors online on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and now Tiktok, for goodness sake! John Robertson: The Door to The Dark Room

Welcome to the Eyre-Leigh Doors community! Here’s what’s in your show today:  John Robertson dances along the line between genius and madman with all the flair and aplomb of a peak-career Antoine Du Beke. What an absolute joy to have on the podcast. It’s chaos from the beginning.  Check out his incredible interactive show The Dark Room Celebrities (including Tim Minchin) lying to you to make you feel special, and how we feel special because of it. Teachers without Qualifications is not as good as Doctors without Borders.  Science Museum puppetry and the sexual mores of the Divorced Aussie Dad.  How do they wash their balls in the Big Lebowski? Like this! A passable impression of a Venus flytrap with the soul of Tom Waits, reference is made to the Singing Frog of Looney Tunes (Part 1 and Part 2)  John Robertson on Australia’s Got Talent Deanna Troi emotes and falls over.  And basically he wins   Who’s our guest and how can you reach them on the socials?  @Robbotron on Twitter twitch.tv/robbotron thejohnrobertson.com Our Social media links:  Find Eyre Leigh Doors online on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and now Tiktok, for goodness sake! Athena Kugblenu and the Freshness of Cleopatra's Ass Milk

There’s a baby joining in this conversation. Sadly, we couldn’t understand his wise and hilarious words because we have forgotten how to speak Baby. Huge kudos to Athena for multitasking like a boss and enormous thanks to her for being so generous with her time.  We learned about the amazing Yaa Asantewaa, Ghanaian queen mother and rebel, we speculated on the sell by date of Cleopatra’s ass milk - the milk from a donkey, you sicko. And whether Serena Williams would be a good Roman Emperor. Spoiler: YES!  We also slagged off builders big time. And then we slagged off their boss, but speculated on the kind of dinner that would be enough to induce us to spend time with someone who destroyed our children’s dreams.  We talk about running and sports. And Rhianna. In the same scenario. Athena fails to understand the rules and then gets put in charge of the whole country.  And it’s a really interesting chat about lots of political things. And we’ve got a gambler on our hands... but will she win?  And if you like Judi Love there’s a nice story about her.  Who’s our guest and how can you reach them on the socials?  Find Athena on Twitter at @AthenaKugblenu  Our Social media links:  Find Eyre Leigh Doors online on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and now Tiktok, for goodness sake! Juliet Meyers Unwanks

Welcome to the Eyre-Leigh Doors community! Here’s what’s in your show today:  Brilliant comedian, writer and dog owner, Juliet Meyers struggles with what’s happened to her teenage crush, Scott Baio, seen here as Chachi, with his TV girlfriend, Joanie. (and here for lovers of 1970s/80s Italian-American comedy actors is Tony Danza). We talk about imagining your world better, the etiquette of turning down a threeway, and which Elvis would you choose? Louise’s preferred Elvis, Juliet’s preferred Elvis, for your reference (and delectation, if that’s how you choose to delectate). And the best ever biopic featuring Miriam Margolyes is ruined by a member of the cabinet. Again. And SPOILERS for the Usual Suspects, which came out 26 years ago, so really that’s on you. And some terrible dog behaviour that isn’t by Diggory the podcast dog. And how a nightmare trip to India could be even worse. It’s an absolute blinder of an episode. Please do enjoy!  Who’s our guest and how can you reach them (and us) on the socials?  Juliet Meyers @julietmeyers on Twitter @julesymeyers on Instagram Check out her show with her lovely dog Homer if you get the chance.  Find Eyre Leigh Doors online on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and now Tiktok, for goodness sake!
