    Once a traveler came to meet Chanakya. When traveler reached Chanakya’s home, darkness had just started to set in. he saw that Chanakya was busy writing some papers under the light of an oil lamp Chanakya welcomed guest and asked him to sit and then he quickly completed work he was doing. Just after completing this work. Chanakya extinguished oil lamp under which he was doing work and then lit another lamp. Traveler was surprised to see this but he thought may be this was a custom followed by Indians when guest arrives. Still traveler got curious and asked, “Is this a custom India, when guest arrives at your house?” extinguishing one lamp and lighting up another lamp?” Chanakya replied, “No, my dear friend. There is no such custom. Actually when you entered, i was working for an official work, pertaining to my empire . This oil filled in this lamp was bought from the money of National treasury. But now, i am talking to you. This is my personal and friendly conversation, not any work related to my nation. So i can not use that lamp now, as it will lead to wastage of money from National treasury. Hence, i extinguished that lamp and lit this other lamp, since oil on this lamp has been bought from my personal money.”

    The ant and the dove

    One hot day, an ant was searching for some water. After walking around for some time, she came to a spring. To reach the spring, she had to climb up a blade of grass. While making her way up, she slipped and fell into the water. She could have drowned if a dove up a nearby tree had not seen her. Seeing that the ant was in trouble, the dove quickly plucked a leaf and dropped it into the water near the struggling ant. The ant moved towards the leaf and climbed up onto it. Soon, the leaf drifted to dry ground, and the ant jumped out. She was safe at last. Just at that time, a hunter nearby was about to throw his net over the dove, hoping to trap it. Guessing what he was about to do, the ant quickly bit him on the heel. Feeling the pain, the hunter dropped his net. The dove was quick to fly away to safety. One good turn begets another.

    एक बच्चे का जन्म, अपने पिता की मृत्यु के तीन माह बाद हुआ। इस बच्चे का जन्म, समय से पूर्व हुआ। जन्म के समय वह बच्चा बहुत कमजोर था। जब वह मात्र तीन वर्ष का था, तो उसकी माँ ने दूसरी शादी कर ली एवं बच्चे को उसकी नानी के पास पालन-पोषण हेतु छोड़ दिया। गाँव के स्कूल में बच्चा पढ़ने लगा। जब वह 15 वर्ष का ही था, तो उसके सौतेले पिता का देहान्त हो गया। बच्चे की माँ वापस आ गई एवं उसने बच्चे की पढ़ाई छुड़वाकर उसे खेत में कार्य करने को कहा। बच्चे को खेत में काम करना पसन्द नहीं था। इस समय हाईस्कूल के एक अध्यापक ने उसकी सहायता की और वह पुनः स्कूल जाने लगा। 19 वर्ष की उम्र में उसे एक लड़की से प्यार हो गया और उसने उससे शादी कर ली, लेकिन बहुत जल्दी ही वह लड़की उसे छोड़कर चली गई। इसके बाद उस लड़के ने कभी शादी नहीं की। जन्म से ही दुर्भाग्यशाली उस बच्चे को जीवन में हर क्षेत्र में विषमताओं का सामना करना पड़ा। आप सोच सकते हैं। कि वह बच्चा जीवन में क्या कर सकता है? यह बच्चा बड़ा होकर विश्व प्रसिद्ध वैज्ञानिक ‘न्यूटन’ के रूप में विख्यात हुआ, जिसने गुरुत्वाकर्षण के नियमों का प्रतिपादन किया।

    A shop owner placed a sign above his door that said: ‘Puppies For Sale.’ Signs like this always have a way of attracting young children, and to no surprise, a boy saw the sign and approached the owner; ‘How much are you going to sell the puppies for?’ he asked. The store owner replied, ‘Anywhere from $30 to $50.’ The little boy pulled out some change from his pocket. ‘ I have $2.37,’ he said. ‘Can I please look at them?’ The shop owner smiled and whistled. Out of the kennel came Lady, who ran down the aisle of his shop followed by five teeny, tiny balls of fur. One puppy was lagging considerably behind. Immediately the little boy singled out the lagging, limping puppy and said, ‘ What’s wrong with that little dog?’ The shop owner explained that the veterinarian had examined the little puppy and had discovered it didn’t have a hip socket. It would always limp. It would always be lame. The little boy became excited. ‘That is the puppy that I want to buy.’ The shop owner said, ‘No, you don’t want to buy that little dog. If you really want him, I’ll just give him to you.’ The little boy got quite upset. He looked straight into the store owner’s eyes, pointing his finger, and said; ‘I don’t want you to give him to me. That little dog is worth every bit as much as all the other dogs and I’ll pay full price. In fact, I’ll give you $2.37 now, and 50 cents a month until I have him paid for.’ The shop owner countered, ‘You really want to buy this little dog. He is never going to be able to run and jump and play with you like the other puppies.’ To his surprise, the little boy reached down and rolled up his pant leg to reveal a badly twisted, crippled left leg supported by a big metal brace. He looked up at the shop owner and softly replied, ‘Well, I don’t run so well myself, and the little puppy will need someone who understands!'”

The boy told the girl that he would give her all his marbles in exchange for the sweets with her. The girl agreed. The boy kept the most beautiful and the biggest marbles with him and gave her the remaining marbles. The girl gave him all her sweets as she promised. That night the girl slept peacefully. But the boy could not sleep as he kept wondering if the girl has hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden the best marbles from her.

    इस दुनिया मे कोई गरीब तो कोई अमीर क्यो है? किसी की कम इज्जत तो किसी की ज्यादा क्यो होती है?

    एक बार लोहे की दुकान में अपने पिता के साथ काम कर रहे एक बालक ने अचानक ही अपने पिता से पुछा – “पिताजी इस दुनिया में मनुष्य की क्या कीमत होती है?” पिताजी एक छोटे से बच्चे से ऐसा गंभीर सवाल सुन कर हैरान रह गये। फिर वे बोले-“बेटे एक मनुष्य की कीमत आंकना बहुत मुश्किल है, वो तो अनमोल है।” बालक – क्या सभी उतने ही कीमती और महत्त्वपूर्ण हैं ? पिताजी – हाँ बेटे। बालक के कुछ पल्ले पड़ा नहीं, उसने फिर सवाल किया – तो फिर इस दुनिया मे कोई गरीब तो कोई अमीर क्यो है? किसी की कम इज्जत तो किसी की ज्यादा क्यो होती है? सवाल सुनकर पिताजी कुछ देर तक शांत रहे और फिर बालक से स्टोर रूम में पड़ा एक लोहे का रॉड लाने को कहा। रॉड लाते ही पिताजी ने पुछा – इसकी क्या कीमत होगी? बालक – लगभग 300 रूपये। पिताजी – अगर मै इसके बहुत से छोटे-छोटे कील बना दू, तो इसकी कीमत क्या हो जायेगी ? बालक कुछ देर सोच कर बोला – तब तो ये और महंगा बिकेगा लगभग 1000 रूपये का। पिताजी – अगर मै इस लोहे से घड़ी के बहुत सारे स्प्रिंग बना दूँ तो? बालक कुछ देर सोचता रहा और फिर एकदम से उत्साहित होकर बोला ” तब तो इसकी कीमत बहुत ज्यादा हो जायेगी।” पिताजी उसे समझाते हुए बोले – “ठीक इसी तरह मनुष्य की कीमत इसमे नही है की अभी वो क्या है, बल्कि इसमे है कि वो अपने आप को क्या बना सकता है।” बालक अपने पिता की बात समझ चुका था।
