    100 Years of Gilwell Reunion....And THIS is the Badge!

    One hundred years of muddy fields, old friends, and camp blankets covered in badges, so when the Gilwell Reunion centenary badge finally dropped, the Scouting community had a LOT to say.A Facebook post asking whether this year's badge does justice to a century of history absolutely blew up, with hundreds of comments ranging from constructive criticism to downright savage takes. In this video, I'm going through what people actually said ,the design complaints, the "was this made by AI?" jokes, the nostalgia for embroidered badges and themed years gone by, and a few deeper frustrations about this year's Reunion that go beyond the badge itself.Some leaders even took matters into their own hands, 3D printing and designing their own badges to bring along.💬 Does the centenary badge do the anniversary justice, or were you hoping for more?     Should You Skip the Campfire This Summer?

    There's a particular kind of magic to a Scout camp evening. Tents up, campfire songs starting, marshmallows appearing from nowhere. It's the kind of moment young people remember for years. But this summer, before you strike that first match, it's worth asking honestly: should you skip it? With the UK facing repeated heatwaves and fire services already battling countryside blazes, we look at what a campfire actually involves. An open flame, tinder-dry grass, drifting sparks, and dozens of young people whose attention is on the sing-song rather than the embers beside them. We also cover a risk many leaders overlook: how a "doused" fire can still smoulder underground and flare up hours later. This isn't about banning campfires for good. It's about leaders actually deciding, instead of defaulting to "we've always had one." We run through the questions every team should ask before lighting up, and look at alternatives that can make for just as memorable an evening. Because young people remember the atmosphere and the company. Not necessarily the flames. "Think before you light it."
