Episode 7 - the Hannah episode

Parenting comes with plenty of challenges, and every kid has their unique strengths and weaknesses. In this episode, we chat about some of the lessons we have learned through our middle kid, Hannah. Times where we were pulling our hair out, flabbergasted at her choices, wracking our brain to work out how to help her through tough situations and times where we enjoyed her unique strengths. God has taught us a lot through our wonderful Hannah, we hope that he speaks to you through her stories too! Do you have any questions you would like us to discuss how to live "beyond circumstances"? Episode 5 - right to fight or give up my right?

In this episode, Deborah and I share some reflections from a few stories from our past relating to giving up our rights. Reputation, finance, kids,  ministry and more. What happens when we choose not to fight for our rights but lay them down at the feet of Jesus? We reference two YWAM podcasts/teachings, one from Loren Cunningham (https://ywampodcast.net/shows/teaching/relinquishing-our-rights-loren-cunningham/) and one from Winkie Pratney (https://ywampodcast.net/shows/teaching/free-as-a-slave-winkie-pratney/) both fantastic teachings that help frame some of our decisions and experiences walking through the tougher moments of life.  Oh, and I also divulge a gross forfeit to the game "Ultimate Spoons"... not for the faint-hearted... Episode 4 with Bryan and Joy Steele - Hospitality and generosity

Welcome back to Beyond Conversations! Today's guests are Joy and Bryan Steele, long term family friends of Deborah and her parents. With a friendship stretching back to Joy's uni days Deborah has seen evidence of sacrificial and joyful hospitality in their lives. We discuss the reason why hospitality and generosity have marked their lives, the foundation God has put in place and some of the resulting fruit, some of which pretty surprising!  Hospitality is one of YWAM's fundamental values and one that reflects the generous heart of God.  17. Practice hospitality YWAM affirms the ministry of hospitality as an expression of God’s character and the value of people. We believe it is important to open our hearts, homes, YWAM locations and campuses to serve and honour one another, our guests and the poor and needy, not as acts of social protocol, but as expressions of generosity (Gen 18:1-8;  2Sa 9:1-11; Psa 68:5-6; Pro 22:9; Isa 58:7; Mat 25:31 46; Act 28:7-8;  Rom 12:13; Heb 13:1-3; 1Pe 4:9).  If you have questions or thoughts on this topic or want a future topic discussed please get in touch with us! https://www.instagram.com/livingbeyonduk/ https://twitter.com/livingbeyonduk https://www.facebook.com/livingbeyonduk

Episode 3 with Ola and Alayna Nordstrom - Hearing God in matters large and small

Welcome back to Beyond Conversations! This week we had a great chat with the amazing Ola and Alayna Nordstrom. Long term YWAMers before moving to the States Ola and Alayna were instrumental in both of our initial stages with YWAM, setting a foundation of integrity, radical evangelism and a tremendous focus on hearing God's voice in matters great and small.  In this episode, we chat through the process of making a massive decision to move countries, as well as having a nudge or niggle and trusting what they felt the Lord lead them to do, and the resulting (positive) consequences of following God's voice over what seemed like common sense.  If you want to know more about hearing God's voice you can check out this podcast from YWAM founder Loren Cunningham: https://ywampodcast.net/shows/teaching/the-conditions-for-knowing-gods-voice-loren-cunningham/ Or you can watch the episode on YWAM's youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9buimpXJR2E (yes it is an old school recording, but the content is solid!)
