    Haunted UK Abroad – Whispers Beneath the Frozen Veil of Antarctica

    In the months following World War II, Antarctica drew the attention of one of the most ambitious polar expeditions in history: Operation Highjump, led by Admiral Richard E. Byrd in 1946–47. Officially, the mission was straightforward…a massive naval operation to train personnel, test new equipment in extreme polar conditions, and establish research outposts. The U.S. Navy deployed thousands of personnel, dozens of ships, and a fleet of aircraft to navigate the treacherous ice.   But as often happens in isolated, secretive places, reality and rumour quickly intertwined. Almost immediately after the expedition, extraordinary stories began to circulate. Some claimed that Byrd’s reconnaissance flights revealed not endless ice, but vast stretches of greenery, lakes, and even herds of prehistoric creatures…creatures reminiscent of mammoths, wandering in isolated valleys hidden from human eyes.   Do you have an interesting story which you'd be willing to share with the show? He was ex-servicemen with a lot of stories, and his family apparently used to own the whole estate, but he sold it and just stayed on when his wife passed away. After a few drinks and a chat, I had told him about what had happened in our room the previous night.     The Witness Files - Case 00 - Not All Ghosts Are Scary  Hidden deep within the archives of the Haunted UK Podcast sits a filing cabinet… filled with first-hand accounts of paranormal and unexplained encounters, sent in by ordinary people who experienced something extraordinary.  These are not urban legends. They’re not campfire stories. They are witness statements. Each file is a real submission, shared by someone who saw, heard, or encountered something they still can’t explain. For years, these accounts have remained sealed, locked away and catalogued.  Until now.  In this series, we open the files… we unlock the archive… and we let the witnesses speak for themselves. What follows may challenge what you believe about the world around you… and what might exist just beyond it.  So, let’s open the filing cabinet… and select a casefile.  I was left sitting there alone, half watching the television, half lost in my thoughts, trying not to focus on the snoring. That’s when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. At first, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, the tired brain filling in shapes where there were none. But then I saw him clearly. My uncle Wally walked into the lounge.  The Witness Files - Case 00 - Not All Ghosts Are Scary  And that brings us to the end of this case. The file is closed, the testimony logged, and for now, the archive falls quiet. But these stories don’t disappear… they wait.     “When I was in my teens, one of my friends lived in an old farmhouse on a road named after the original owner, Seth Morehouse. One evening, we were in her room and the radiator started gurgling. My friend said, “Seth is here.” The words were barely out of her mouth when her closet door opened. She told Seth that it was ok, that he could come out, and the door swung shut. Her closet was located in the eaves of the old house; it was fairly large and ran in a narrow space parallel to her bedroom wall.
