Maulana Wahiduddin Khan is an Islamic spiritual scholar who has adopted peace as the mission of his life. Internationally recognized for his contributions to world peace, he has received, among others, the Padma Vibhushan in Jan, 2021, the Padma Bhushan, the Demiurgus Peace International Award, the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavna Award and the National Citizen's Award. A recent book, The 500 Most Influential Muslims of 2009 by Georgetown University, Washington DC, has named him “Islam’s Spiritual Ambassador to the world.”

Islam claims to be an eternal religion and violence as a principle is totally alien to the scheme of things in Islam. The word ‘jihad’ has nowhere been used in the Quran to mean war in the sense of launching an offensive. It is used rather to mean a peaceful, ideological ‘struggle’. The action most consistently called for in the Quran is the exercise of patience. No excuse, therefore, justifies the use of violence, in individual or national life.     The present booklet, A Case of Discovery comprises of a lecture, which was delivered by Dr. Nishikant Chattopadhyaye in 1904, in Hyderabad. He belonged to the well-known Bengali family of Sarojini Naidu. Dr. Nishikant Chattopadhyaye with his family migrated from Bengal to settle in Hyderabad during the British period. Well-versed in several languages, he was a truth seeker in the real sense of the word. He studied religion and its related disciplines in detail. Finally, he became fully convinced of the veracity of Islam. Having found the answer to his quest, he embraced the true faith. After his acceptance, he delivered a lecture on 26th August 1904, at the historic Fateh Maidan in Hyderabad. The present booklet comprises of this lecture.
