Fr. Dom's Homs: The Good Shepherd Is Still Running After You...Stop Running From Him

Most men treat Easter like a finish line. The candles go out, the celebration ends, and life goes back to normal without any change. But the Resurrection isn't a closing chapter. It's a starting gun. And if you walked away from Easter Sunday the same man you were before, this episode is for you. Fr. Dominic breaks open the readings from the 4th Sunday of Easter (Good Shepherd Sunday) and delivers something every Catholic man needs to hear. It's a call to action rooted in the power of the Resurrection. Peter stands up before the Sanhedrin and speaks with such force that the crowd isn't just moved emotionally. They're cut to the heart. They don't ask, "What should we think?" They ask, "What should we do?" That's what the Holy Spirit produces in a man. Fr. Dominic also tackles suffering head-on. Christian suffering isn't something to avoid but something to expect and embrace. If you're living your faith out loud in the world today, the resistance will come. That's not a sign you're doing something wrong. That's a sign you're doing something right. And then there's the Good Shepherd. Fr. Dominic shares a story from his time in the Holy Land. What it reveals about us is convicting. Here's the challenge: Too many baptized, confirmed Catholic men are fully initiated and completely disengaged. You have everything you need and you're sitting on the sideline. That's not the life you were made for. The Resurrection happened for you. Stop leaving it at the church doors. 💬 3 Powerful Quotes from This Episode: "When the great Greek warrior Demosthenes spoke, his soldiers leapt up, struck their shields with their swords and said — let us march." — Fr. Dominic "One of the worst things in this world is a Christian who is not engaged. A fully initiated Christian — baptized, reconciliation, Eucharist, confirmation — and then they're not engaged with the world." — Fr. Dominic "The resurrection is not the end of something. It is the beginning of everything. Christ rises not simply to be remembered, but to be lived." — Fr. Dominic (quoting a Ukrainian Catholic priest) 🎯 Key Takeaway — Apply This Now: Pray. Not occasionally, not when things get hard — daily, intentionally, consistently. Prayer is not a religious formality. It's how you learn to recognize the voice of the Good Shepherd so that when the world gets loud and confusing, you know which voice to follow. Start today. Even ten minutes. That's where this all begins. Thank you for your prayers and support! Consider supporting the podcast on our Buy Me a Coffee page to help grow the show to reach as many men as possible! Ep 202 - They're Coming for Your Family...And They're Not Hiding It with Bill Donohue

The ruling class and radical left used to be on opposite sides. Not anymore. They've found a common enemy and they're working together to dismantle both. This isn't conspiracy. This is documented. And Catholic men need to hear it. James sits down with Bill Donohue, President and CEO of the Catholic League, to break down his latest book Christianity in the Crosshairs: Ruling Class and Radicals Find a Common Enemy. Bill pulls no punches. He connects the dots between COVID lies, gender ideology, the assault on parental rights, and a decades-long strategy to replace your authority over your children with the state's. If you lived through the COVID lockdowns, watched churches shut down while BLM protests were cheered on, and felt something was deeply wrong, Bill explains why you were right. This isn't about politics. It's about power. And the goal has always been to get inside your head, neutralize the family, and make you dependent on institutions that despise what you believe. He is direct, unapologetic, and backed by decades of research. 💬 3 Powerful Quotes from This Episode: "The one thing that the ruling class and the radicals both loathe is Christianity — and they don't like the nuclear family. If you can disable them, you leave people in a lurch, and then maybe they'll find communion with you. It's all about power. It's all about control." — Bill Donohue "There's more free speech in your local pub than there is tolerated in your local college or university. And I've spent a lot of time in both." — Bill Donohue "They may occupy some of the command seats, but there's more of us than them. Yes, we can intimidate them — let's do that instead of them intimidating us." — Bill Donohue 🎯 Key Takeaway — Apply This Now: Stop waiting for someone else to say something. The next time you encounter a lie, speak up. You don't have to be a culture warrior with a PhD. You just have to open your mouth. Silence is not safety. Silence is surrender. 📚 References & Resources Mentioned: Christianity in the Crosshairs by Bill DonohueCatholic League for Religious and Civil Rights — catholicleague.org Thank you for your prayers and support! Ep 201 - Your Sins Have a Price Tag And Your Kids Might Be Paying It with Dr. Dan Schneider

What if the chaos in your family isn't random? What if the patterns of addiction, broken relationships, and spiritual emptiness running through your bloodline have a real theological explanation? In this episode, James speaks with Dr. Dan Schneider to break open one of the most misunderstood topics in the Church today: generational sin and familial curses. Dr. Dan unpacks his new book Sins of the Father: A Catholic and Biblical Approach to Generational Curses, walking through what the Church actually teaches about how a father's sins affect his children. The answer is harder to hear than most men want. Because it puts the weight squarely back where it belongs: on you. We cover why healing Masses for "the family tree" get the theology wrong, what it actually means when God says He will "visit the iniquities of the fathers upon the children," why the confessional is where warriors go to get rebuilt, and what God is going to actually ask you when you stand before Him. The challenge for every man listening: Stop blaming your ancestors for your struggles and start building the kind of legacy your children and grandchildren will point to as the day the curse ended. What are you giving your family? The ancient weapons are still the best ones. Go to Confession. Offer Mass for the dead. Fast. Do penance. Die to yourself. That's it. BOOK REFERENCED: Sins of the Father: A Catholic and Biblical Approach to Generational Curses by Dr. Dan Schneider POWERFUL QUOTES FROM THIS EPISODE: "The confessional is where warriors go to get rebuilt. We serve a King — the King of Kings and Lord of Lords — and we serve Him in and through our families." — Dr. Dan Schneider"You want to be a man? Hand yourself over. Die to yourself so that Jesus Christ can live and reign." — Dr. Dan Schneider"God's not going to say, 'Hey James, great podcast — how many likes did you get?' He's going to say, 'Give me your wife, your kids, your grandkids. What did you do? Did you pass on the faith?'" — Dr. Dan Schneider Thank you for your prayers and support! Ep 200 - The Debrief Your Soul Has Been Waiting For: The Daily Examen

Navy SEALs debrief after every mission. No exceptions. Not to assign blame. But because a warrior who doesn't examine his performance will repeat his mistakes. And in that world, repeated mistakes get people killed. So here's the question: when was the last time you debriefed your soul? In this episode, we're going deep on one of the most powerful and most neglected weapons in the Catholic man's arsenal: the Daily Examen. Developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, this 500-year-old prayer practice has forged saints, soldiers, fathers, and martyrs. And most Catholic men have never touched it. We break down all five movements: Presence, Gratitude, Review, Contrition, and Resolution. Not as a formula to memorize, but as a structured debrief of your interior life that actually produces results. We also clear up the misconceptions that cause most men to dismiss it or quit after a week. The Examen is the debrief. The debrief changes the operator. Seven days. Start today. 3 Powerful Quotes from This Episode: 🔹 "Ignatius didn't develop the Examen from a position of spiritual comfort. He developed it from a hospital bed in pain, stripped of everything he thought made him a man." 🔹 "The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it — but that it's too low and we reach it." 🔹 "A warrior who can't face his own failures is a warrior who will keep making them over and over." Key Takeaway — Adapt This Immediately: Tonight, before you go to sleep, put your phone down and spend 15 minutes moving through all five steps of the Daily Examen: Presence → Gratitude → Review → Contrition → Resolution. If 15 minutes feels like too much, do one minute per movement — five minutes total. Then do it again tomorrow. Seven days in a row. That's the challenge. Thank you for your prayers and support! Ep 199 - The Sin Nobody Confesses...And Why It's Destroying Catholic Men

There's a sin that has been attacking men since he was created. It doesn't look like sin. It doesn't feel like sin. But if you let it take root, it will quietly hollow out your faith...and you won't even see it coming. The average American prayer lasts one to two minutes. Men who say they're in a war for their soul, their marriage, their kids. Giving God two minutes. That's not just a busy schedule. That's something darker. And today we're naming it. The Desert Fathers called it acedia and the early Church considered it one of the most spiritually dangerous attacks a man could face. St. Thomas Aquinas listed it among the seven deadly sins. And it is the signature attack on Catholic men right now. It looks like contentment. It looks like, I show up to Mass on Sunday, I check the box, I'm a good provider. Isn't that enough? That is sloth. That is acedia. And chances are, you've never once confessed it. In this episode, James breaks down what acedia actually is, why the saints and Desert Fathers feared it above almost everything else, how to recognize it in your own life right now, and what to do about it starting this week. 3 Powerful Quotes from This Episode: "Sloth is not about being lazy. It's about being unwilling to pay the cost of the fight.""Acedia is not a relaxation of effort, but a refusal of joy — because the joy that God offers is not cheap. It comes through the cross.""The man who goes into battle with a clear conscience and a clean soul is a different animal entirely from the man carrying the weight of unconfessed sin and unexamined drift." Key Takeaway — Apply This Immediately: Identify one area of your life where you've been sitting on the stairs — your prayer life, your marriage, your kids, your own soul. This week, show up there on purpose. Five minutes. Eyes closed. No apps. Tell God exactly where you've been frozen. Then go to confession before the month is out. Fr. Dom's Homs - My Lord and My God: How the Resurrection Changes Everything for Men

The tomb is empty. The wounds are real. And Christ is standing right in front of you...what are you going to do about it? Fr. Dominic breaks open the Second Sunday of Easter and delivers a message that every Catholic man needs to hear. This isn't a feel-good Easter recap. This is a challenge to stop sitting on the sidelines of your faith and start living like the resurrection actually happened. Fr. Dom walks through Acts of the Apostles and shows us what the early Church looked like in real time — men who were warned, reprimanded, flogged, and came back praising God. Peter, who denied Christ at His darkest hour, was now preaching fire in front of the same people who handed Jesus over to be crucified. We also dig into the Shroud of Turin. 700+ documented wounds. Over a third of His blood lost before He even reached the cross. A burst of 30 trillion watts of ultraviolet light energy for 1/40 billionth of a second that burned the image of Christ into linen. And then there's Thomas. Doubting Thomas didn't just wonder; he demanded proof, and Christ gave it to him. But here's the challenge Fr. Dom lays out: Thomas had to touch the wounds of Christ. We get to receive Him every single time we approach the altar. Are we treating the Eucharist like that? Are we saying, "My Lord and my God"? I'm issuing you a direct challenge in this episode: pick up Luke and then Acts of the Apostles, read them straight through, and find the sacraments hiding in the text. They're all there. Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation, the Eucharist — the early Church was living what we still have access to today. There is gold in them there hills. Go find it. The enemy doesn't rest. Neither can we. 💬 3 POWERFUL QUOTES FROM THE TRANSCRIPT: "Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, whose sins you retain are retained — and that very same gift through Jesus happens in these confessionals." — Fr. Dominic"Faith is more precious than gold — more precious than anything this world can offer." — Fr. Dominic, echoing St. Peter"We do more than touch Him. We consume Him. Let us say, 'My Lord and my God.'" — Fr. Dominic KEY TAKEAWAY — IMPLEMENT THIS WEEK: Go to Confession. Don't wait. Don't negotiate with yourself about whether you need it. The same risen Christ who breathed on the apostles and said "Whose sins you forgive are forgiven" is waiting for you in that confessional. Walk in. Walk out clean. Then receive the Eucharist the way Thomas touched those wounds — with full conviction and full surrender. Ep 198 - Drama-Free Discipline: The Truth About Raising Kids Nobody Wants to Hear

Your kids aren't the problem. Your discipline strategy might be. Dr. Ray Guarendi — psychologist, father of 10 adopted children, and one of the most respected voices in Catholic family life — returns to The Manly Catholic to cut through the noise on one of the most frustrating challenges fathers face: discipline that actually works. We dig into his book Drama-Free Discipline, and Dr. Ray pulls no punches. Gentle parenting? It's built on a false premise — that children are naturally cooperative. Spoiler: they're not. And the more you try to reason and explain your way into their cooperation, the faster you become the most frustrated person in the room. In this episode: Why gentle parenting produces some of the most frantic and inconsistent parents Dr. Ray has ever seenThe "blackout" method — what it is, why it works, and how a 7-year-old usually folds in under an hourSpanking — what the actual research says vs. what the culture tells youWhy you lose authority every time you over-explain, and what to say insteadHow fathers should step in when mom and child are going back and forth — and why most dads wait too longWhat to do when you blow up, go too far, and need to walk it back without losing credibility Dr. Ray's closing words alone are worth the whole episode — don't skip the ending. 3 POWERFUL QUOTES: "Discipline without love may be harsh. Love without discipline is child abuse — because ultimately, the world will crush that child." — Dr. Ray Guarendi "If you have authority, you don't have to use it very often. If you don't have it, you're always chasing some form of it." — Dr. Ray Guarendi "You're the kindest, most gentle, loving teacher that child will ever have. If you don't do it now, the world will." — Dr. Ray Guarendi KEY TAKEAWAY — APPLY THIS TODAY: Stop over-explaining. When your child misbehaves, give the consequence once, clearly, calmly. If they refuse — go straight to blackout. Strip every perk and privilege until they comply. The consequence doesn't have to be creative. Your follow-through does.
