This episode of MaryJane N Munchies, we spark up with Rae, Boston-born community builder, entrepreneur, cannabis advocate, and the creative force behind Diaspora Experiences. Raised in Dorchester and now based in Hyde Park, Rae’s journey has taken him through luxury retail, hospitality, operations, events, and cannabis, with career stops in DC, Brooklyn, Chicago, and Boston. His move into legal cannabis opened his eyes to an industry growing rapidly while many Black and Brown communities impacted by prohibition still weren’t seeing themselves reflected in the ownership, spaces, or culture surrounding legalization. That realization helped spark Diaspora Experiences, a 21+ members-only social club and cultural incubator centered around connection, creativity, wellness, cannabis, and community. We get into building community in Boston, cannabis culture beyond the stereotypes, entrepreneurship, and why creating spaces where Black and Brown adults can gather, create, heal, network, and celebrate authentically matters. From comedy and music to wellness programming, educational workshops, co-working, private events, infused dining, and cultural activations, Diaspora is building something bigger than another nightlife destination. It’s about creating a community people can actually belong to. And you already know #MJNM isn’t letting Rae leave without getting into the culture, stories, and conversations that happen once everybody gets comfortable. Don’t get it messed up—this isn’t just another cannabis business interview. This is about ownership, healing, culture, connection, and building the spaces we wish already existed. #MJNM GET HYPE UP YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
