Episode 44: Pause and Release It All!

I personally know that I guard my family time, my leisure time, and I sometimes hold my wallet too closely. So, we tend to mark what is ours that sometimes extends our measure of faith.
In the last episode number 43, we were talking about being reminded of and taking a pulse on our faith level as we transition from one season to another. Today I want us to pause and think about the word mine.

    Episode 43: Pause in Faith

    Episode 43: Pause in Faith

As we step complete our 2nd Summer together and prepare for another change of seasons, I thought we might pause this week and focus on our Faith levels—specifically having Faith IN A SEASONS OF Change.
    · But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands.  (Psalm 31:14-15)
Can you imagine a tightrope stretched over a quarter of a mile and spanning the breadth of Niagara Falls?  The thundering sound of the pounding water drowning out all other sounds as you watch a man step onto the rope and walk across!
This stunning feat made Charles Blondin famous in the summer of 1859.  He walked 160 feet above the falls several times back and forth between Canada and the United States as huge crowds on both sides looked on with shock and awe.  Once he crossed in a sack, once on stilts, another time on a bicycle,  and once he even carried a stove and cooked an omelet!
On July 15, Blondin walked backward across the tightrope to Canada and returned pushing a wheelbarrow.

The Blondin story is told that it was after pushing a wheelbarrow across while blindfolded that Blondin asked for some audience participation.  The crowds had watched and "Ooooohed" and "Aaaaahed!"  He had proven that he could do it; of that, there was no doubt.  But now he was asking for a volunteer to get into the wheelbarrow and take a ride across the Falls with him!
It is said that he asked his audience, "Do you believe I can carry a person across in this wheelbarrow?"  Of course the crowd shouted that yes, they believed!
It was then that Blondin posed the question - "Who will get in the wheelbarrow?'
Wow—such a great picture of true faith when things looks really scary, or risky or downright impossible.
There is another story, this one is in the Bible in the book of Daniel—it is a story about three teenagers in the book of Daniel who refused to bow down to false idols required by the king—
When the King heard about their rebellion he commanded they be thrown into a hot burning furnace. Just imagine their confusion when they knew they were doing the right thing—making the God choice-- they could’ve complained God “this is just not fair God, we serve you and look what is happening” but instead these 3 young men chose to stand strong in faith—not like the wheel barrow story of just talking about faith but actually walking into faith—they got in the wheelbarrow--telling the king “we will not bow down, we know that God will deliver us but even if he doesn’t we will not bow”
This beautiful story reveals what true, acted out faith looks like
The end of the story tells us the king actually saw 4 men not three in the fiery furnace “unbound and unharmed” .
As we pause and consider the upcoming change of seasons some of us are facing changes or circumstances that are testing our faith—
But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands.  (Psalm 31:14-15)

Episode 42: PAUSE for an INTERVIEW with Amy Carroll

Episode 42: PAUSE for an INTERVIEW with Amy Carroll

Join me for a short chat with Amy Carroll--Speaker, Writer, Ministry and Business leader as she shares how she PROTECT HER PAUSE for a stronger walk with Jesus.

"Everybody has two sides. There’s my professional side where I speak for Proverbs 31 Ministries and write books. To learn about my speaking and writing, you can read her professional bio.
But here, I want to get to know you, and I want you to know the everyday me. This is the real scoop: These days, I feel God calling me to use my voice for Him in winsome, compelling ways, and I’m learning. Because He’s been directing my life since I was ten, I trust Him to faithfully show me my next step.

The goofiest things make me laugh. British comedy, my sons’ corny jokes, and my husband’s play on words all crack me up.

I’m scared of bouncing a check, closed-in places, and pictures that show my double chin.

Almost anything makes me cry. I cry when I’m happy, sad, moved (even by Hallmark commercials), or in awe of something God has done. I don’t think on my feet well at all.  I get a joke a day late, and it takes me two weeks to think of the perfect comeback."

Amy’s committed to opening up her whole life– the good, bad and ugly—to teach what she’s learned in pursuit of applying God’s Word.  She loves teaching Scripture in all its unvarnished glory, while sharing God’s big truths in small, understandable bites.

Amy has a new book coming out: Esther: Seeing Our Invisible God in an Uncertain World.

    Episode 41: Pause and EXHALE

    Episode 41: Pause and EXHALE

I have a question for you today—my question is this…
When is the last time you have INTENTIONALLY EXHALED?
Intentionally let go of a deep breath?
    A surrendering breath?
I had a friend ask me that question the other day and it caught me off guard a bit—
We have all heard the phrase—“Don’t hold your breath,” right?
We know what that expression really means—it means—it probably won’t happen; or won’t happen for a long time.
The message behind that phrase is NOT faith filled. It is rather the opposite.
Let's PAUSE and talk about the power of the EXHALE shall we?!
Also, don’t forget that on my website you can find what I call a Deeper Dive into most episodes of P2P—
If you visit and go way back to my beginning you will find a FREE prayer tool that applies the word BREATHE in an acrostic form to a simple prayer plan.
Thanks for joining me, see you next time!

Episode 40: Pause at the DOOR to your Destiny!

Episode 40: Pause at the DOOR to your Destiny!

Our last few times together have paused to consider our purpose and calling—before we leave those topics for a while, I would like to pause over one more thought—one more word—and that word is DOORS!
    Doors that open
    Doors that close
    Doors of hope
    Doors of shame
    Doors that protect
    Doors that trap…dot dot dot—
Today I want to pause and consider the DOORS in your spiritual life; specifically, your calling and your purpose.
The call of God is life changing and, in my experience, EVER CHANGING and we have to be ready to follow Him—Lets' Pause and consider....
Is there a DOOR in my life—my purpose, my calling Lord, that you are asking me to open?

Has a door closed to make a new thing ready?

Let's pause and pray about that!

Epsisode 39: Pause and Consider--4 (maybe 5) Absolutes about YOUR PRUPOSE and Calling

Let's Pause and think about some things we absolutely KNOW about our purpose.

Last episode we paused to consider how God created us and what might be His BIG purpose for our lives. Even if we are a bit unsure of some things we think or wonder about God calling us to do, while we WAIT for clarity or even open doors, there are a few things we KNOW!

This episode grabs a few CRITICAL truths from my book Life Unstuck  to help us refocus during season of waiting or wondering about something we believe God has called us to do, start or grow.
