BATTLE OF THE BOY BANDS: PRETTY RICKY V.S. B2K V.S. DAY 26

Hey UN•THERAPIST! 👋🏾 We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something… B2K vs. Pretty Ricky.  If you grew up in the 2000s, this wasn’t just a Verzuz—it was a trip down memory lane! From Bump, Bump, Bump to Grind With Me, these groups helped soundtrack our teenage years, our crushes, our first dances, and an entire era of R&B. But then… DAY26 entered the chat, without being summoned! After the battle, Day26’s Willie Taylor made it clear that he believed his group could have “smoked” both B2K and Pretty Ricky, sparking a whole new conversation about vocals, performance, hits, and who REALLY represented 2000s R&B. 📌 What did B2K and Pretty Ricky actually mean to our generation?📌 Who had the bigger cultural impact?📌 Does having the hits automatically make you the better group?📌 And if Day26 had stepped on that stage… would the conversation have been different? This week on UN•THERAPY, we’re taking a nostalgic trip through the music, the memories, the hits, the influence, and the groups that helped shape OUR generation. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstHey UN•THERAPIST! 👋🏾 We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something… B2K vs. Pretty Ricky.  If you grew up in the 2000s, this wasn’t just a Verzuz—it was a trip down memory lane! WE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO SELL FISH PLATES TO PAY FOR A FUNERAL (Official Crossover Episode w/ Whatever Face Podcast)

Hey UN•THERAPIST & Whatever Face Podcast Family! We need to UN•THERAPIZE something that has been part of the culture for generations… FISH PLATES. But not just any fish plates - the fish plates we start selling when somebody dies. The fish plates, raffles, BBQs, donations, GoFundMe pages, and community fundraisers that suddenly appear because a family is trying to figure out how to pay for a funeral. And that got us thinking… Why are we so good at coming together AFTER the crisis… but not always planning BEFORE it? For this special crossover episode, we're linking up with the good folks from Whatever Face Podcast to have a conversation about the things we don't always want to talk about until we're forced to. We're talking about financial planning, discernment, grief, guilty-pleasure music, and the decisions that can either prepare us for life or leave somebody else cleaning up the pieces. 📌 Why is long-term financial planning so easy to postpone? 📌 Why do we wait until there's a crisis to start asking for money? 📌 Is community fundraising a beautiful example of Black communities taking care of our own or a sign that we aren't financially prepared for emergencies? 📌 What does discernment have to do with the choices we make today? 📌 And why are we willing to plan the party, the vacation, and the outfit… but not always the things we KNOW eventually have to happen? Then, because this is UN•THERAPY and Whatever Face, we couldn't possibly have a conversation this serious without getting into some guilty pleasures, entertainment, and the shows that have us locked in. From Untold Stories to The Blacklist, Lioness, A Toxic Love Story, and American Greed, we're sharing recommendations while asking ourselves what these stories can teach us about people, choices, relationships, power, and consequences. And somewhere between the laughs, the uncomfortable questions, and the recommendations… we might have to ask ourselves: Are we actually prepared for the life we're living? Because maybe the goal isn't to stop selling fish plates. Maybe the goal is to make sure nobody HAS to sell one just to survive a crisis. Join us for our ever crossover episode of UN•THERAPY Podcast x Whatever Face Podcast for a conversation about financial planning, discernment, culture, grief, guilty pleasures, and the realities we don't always want to face until it's too late. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group) 🔗 Connect with Whatever Face PodcastApple Podcast: Whatever FaceSpotify: Whatever Face

    IS MANDATORY GRATUITY LEGAL EXTORTION?

Hey UN•THERAPIST, We need to UN•THERAPIZE something that has become almost impossible to avoid: TIPPING. You sit down at a restaurant. You order your food. You eat. You pay your bill. Then comes the screen: 18%? 20%? 25%? And suddenly, what used to feel like an optional thank-you feels like a pop quiz you didn't study for.  So here's the question… When did tipping go from something you WANTED to give…to something you feel like you HAVE to give? We understand that restaurant workers deserve to be compensated fairly. We understand that servers work hard. We understand that tips can make a major difference in someone's income. But here's where the conversation gets interesting…📌 If gratuity is automatically added to your bill, is it still a tip?📌 If the restaurant requires it, should we call it a service charge instead?📌 Why are customers being asked to make up the difference when wages don't reflect the cost of the service?📌 If a service is exceptional, shouldn't the customer get to decide how much they want to give?📌 And when the tipping screen starts at 20%, are we being encouraged to be generous—or pressured to be? Then there's the other side… What happens when someone receives poor service but still feels obligated to tip? Is tipping about rewarding excellent service? Is it simply part of the cost of dining out? Or has tipping culture become so normalized that we've stopped questioning it? And let's talk about the elephant in the dining room… Are we actually tipping because we WANT to, or because we don't want to look cheap? Because there's a difference between intentional generosity and social pressure. So where do you stand? Tip because you want to?Tip because you have to?Or don't tip at all? Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE tipping culture, mandatory gratuity, restaurant wages, customer expectations, service charges, and the question of whether tipping has officially gone too far. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

IS LOYALTY AN EXPECTATION OR AN AGREEMENT?

Hey UN•THERAPIST, We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something… Is loyalty still a favorable trait? And if it is... is it something that should be discussed before it's expected? The more we talked, the more we realized that everyone seems to have a different definition of loyalty. Some see it as standing by someone no matter what. Others believe loyalty has limits. And some have been so loyal to people, jobs, or situations that weren't loyal in return. So now we're asking... Can loyalty become expensive? If staying loyal causes you to miss opportunities, delay your purpose, or sacrifice your own growth... is that still loyalty, or is it poor stewardship? Then we took it a step further... Does loyalty to a person automatically mean loyalty from your brand or your business? If I'm loyal to you personally, does my company have to publicly support you too? Or is it healthy to separate personal relationships from professional decisions? Can your friendship and your brand have different boundaries? Maybe the biggest question is this... Are people disloyal... or are we expecting them to live by a definition of loyalty we never took the time to discuss? Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE the true meaning of loyalty, the cost of misplaced loyalty, personal relationships versus brand loyalty, and whether loyalty should be assumed... or agreed upon.  🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

WOULD YOU GIVE UP YOUR SEAT ON A PLANE? (Feat. Uncle Smiley the DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST, We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something… Picture this: a family wants to sit together and asks if you'd be willing to switch seats. What determines your answer: Is it an automatic yes because it's the kind thing to do? Or does it depend on the seat they're offering in return? Does it have to be the same value? The same legroom? The same location? Or is kindness supposed to outweigh convenience? Then we took the conversation one step further... What about those exit-row seats? You agree to sit there, but once the flight takes off, you realize the responsibility is greater than you expected. Do you quietly hope nothing happens... or do you let the flight attendant know you're no longer comfortable with the responsibility? Because sometimes we say "yes" before we fully understand what we're agreeing to.So now we're asking... 📌 What does kindness require?📌 What does responsibility require?📌 And when is it okay to admit you're not the right person for the seat you're sitting in? Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE kindness vs convenience, exchanging seats, accepting responsibility, and knowing when to speak up before an emergency ever happens. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group) 🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram:  @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

PRIDE V.S. PRIVACY: The tale of Pinky Cole & Slutty Vegan (Feat. Uncle Smiley the DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST, We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something… This conversation started after watching an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, where Pinky Cole shared that she had filed for bankruptcy... but hadn't told her husband. That sparked a bigger question... Where does privacy end... and pride begin? If you're willing to share something with the world, should your spouse have heard it first? Marriage is a partnership... so why do some people operate like sole proprietors? Are there decisions that belong to just you? Or once you say "I do," do certain conversations automatically become "we" conversations? Then we went even deeper...Where does transparency end and secrecy begin? How far back does transparency go? Is your partner entitled to know everything about your past, or are there some chapters that don't need to be reopened? When someone says, "That's private," are they protecting their peace... or protecting themselves from accountability? Maybe the bigger question isn't whether you have a right to privacy. Maybe it's this: Can a partnership truly thrive if one person is carrying information the other never gets the chance to hold? Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE privacy versus pride, transparency versus secrecy, and what true partnership really looks like. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram:  @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com
