Grayson [they/them]

A podcast about young trans success stories, hosted by Ash Kranti [xe/xyr/xyrs]. Grayson Alexander (they/them) is a lifelong transgender rights activist, first beginning their advocacy by fighting for restroom access at their Central Illinois high school after coming out as transgender at fourteen years old. Since then, Grayson has served as Illinois’ first openly transgender Senate Page, testified in front of State Legislative committees, and lobbied for the Vital Records Modernization Act in 2017 and the Inclusive Cirriculum Act in 2019. Grayson serves on several LGBTQ policy advisory committees, including Equality Illinois’s Community Advisory Group and Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s LGBTQ Taskforce. In April 2021, they were elected as the youngest and first non-binary member of Chicago’s 49th Ward Democrats Board of Directors. Now twenty-two, they recently graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a degree in Political Science and worked as the Coordinator of Constituent Services and Youth Engagement for Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden. They hope to continue working in community organizing and policy development, particularly focusing on engaging young marginalized people and creating pathways to civic participation and leadership for them.
