MaccessHub for VoiceOver, KZZP Radio Nostalgia & Halloween Plans (Vision Cast 2026.09.30)

Recorded live on September 30, 2026, this Vision Cast has Rita in the host chair, opening from Guadalupe, Arizona with her electrifying guitar intro, and the best news of the night comes first: Rachel is back after a week under the weather. The two trade Rebel Rita and Rebel Rachel nicknames before the roll call brings in JC, George, Preston, Nora, Donald, Phillip, and Salvis on the audio controls. Phillip calls in from a train platform, thoroughly out of breath from the stairs but triumphantly not late. Preston opens the announcements with a salute to Donald, whose Music Mayhem Marathon filled the whole weekend with shows pulled from the archive. Tuning in across Friday and Saturday, Preston caught old episodes with friends guest co-hosting, and was tickled to hear George and Rachel broadcasting over Skype back in the day, part of what George calls the Echo Project. As Donald points out, half the joy of the older shows is hearing the technology of the era right along with them. Then comes the calendar, and it is a full one. The final Vision Cast Music Mayhem hybrid show of 2026 lands on October 23. The Vision Cast Halloween party is recorded on October 28 , and the last KSRN show of the year follows on October 30. The hybrid returns on January 8, 2027 . Christmas Wonderland Radio switches on November 1 , and George and Rachel will co-host a Halloween-into-Christmas show across both stations. The talent show on October 14 is shaping up too, with Nora sending in her performances, Donald packing a zip file of songs, and Rachel hosting the whole thing from her Mac. Rachel also updates the room on the KSRN interview with Sriram from the Lumin voice-email app, postponed once when he was ill and again when she was, and now being put back on the books. JC then takes the floor for the demo of the week: MaccessHub, a free and open-source macOS menu-bar app from developer masonasons, available on GitHub. Built with VoiceOver users in mind, it brings back event sounds, key clicks and spoken system information, adds audio-device switching on the fly, and ships with soundpacks, automatic updates and a launch-at-login option. Best of all, it folds a pile of older Hammerspoon accessibility scripts into one native app, so nobody has to go anywhere near Xcode to get their sounds back. Rachel answers with another of her AI-generated comedy songs, and George is once again the target: a road-trip saga about a bathroom emergency that goes about as undignified as these things can go. The room does not recover quickly. Rita brings the night home with radio nostalgia, remembering KZZP in Phoenix, the Top 40 station she grew up on, and its golden era from 1985 to 1989 under program director Guy Zapoleon. She has been part of a KZZP history group online for four years now, and still finds herself reminiscing over what radio used to be. JC closes with a hope for an October jam session, and a promise to finally introduce the team to Ariel, a songwriter who can write a song on the spot. Old radio, new tools, and a family back at full strength. Recorded 2026-09-30. Final length 1 hour 42 minutes 16 seconds, mastered to -14 LUFS. Sweet Child Riff Lore, Van Halen Tapping & JC on Christian Radio (Vision Cast 2026.09.23)

Recorded live on September 23, 2026, this Vision Cast has JC in the host chair while Rachel rests up. She is under the weather this week, and the whole family, Nora and Katie especially, sends her love and wishes for a quick recovery. Around the table: Rita, Shaun Oliver, Preston, George, Nora, Katie, Donald, Phillip, and Salvis on the audio controls. Shaun Oliver turns the opening stretch into a classic-rock history hour. He retells the legend behind the Sweet Child o' Mine riff, the one where Slash is just warming up his fingers until Axl Rose tells him to keep doing that thing, and a chart-topper grows out of it, with Rita placing its run at 1988. From there Shaun traces how Eddie Van Halen took inspiration from Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin's Heartbreaker and turned two-hand tapping into his own signature, and the room pauses to remember Eddie. Then JC shares the proudest news of his week. He auditioned at Sound of Life, the Hudson Valley Christian radio station at soundoflife.org , and he brings two clips with him: one recorded in the studio, one captured straight off the air. In the aired piece, host Lisa Berry tells the story of Juan Carlos, a blind man of thirty-five whose doctors gave him almost no chance of survival when he was born and whose mother prayed anyway. Then JC's own voice comes through the speakers. The text messages started arriving the moment he left the building, from people who had heard his name on the radio. Juan Carlos's story lands hard with Rita, who remembers being given no more than a year to live, her parents warned about the excessive oxygen in her incubator. Blind people, she points out, have been outliving those first predictions ever since. The conversation moves into broadcast and accessible technology: the automation and cart systems humming behind a real radio studio, StationPlaylist, the braille display Shaun keeps beside him when he is on air, the 3D printer he is about to buy, and the tactile pieces JC got to hold at a friend's place, including a cube whose faces carry different dot patterns standing in for colours. A Beatles tangent follows, from the kazoo buried in Yellow Submarine to Here Comes the Sun, which sends Rita back to playing kazoo songs at ASGB in the spring of 1990. Looking ahead, talent show submissions are open and Preston says the show is only weeks away, JC will be singing Hotel California with his voice instructor, and Preston is off to hear a Central Pennsylvania duo at the Double Barrel Roadhouse with a promise to bring back a recording. The Music Mayhem Marathon takes over Super Hit Mix Radio all weekend long with George and Rachel at the helm, and Vision Cast now reaches listeners on both KSRN and Super Hit Mix. The night ends in the best possible way. A dear friend's daughter, Autumn Grace, arrived at four in the morning the day before, and the whole room celebrates her. Recorded 2026-09-23. Final length 1 hour 41 minutes 34 seconds, mastered to -14 LUFS.

iOS 27 VoiceOver Bugs, AI Image Descriptions & Suno Roast Songs (Vision Cast 2026.09.16)

Recorded live on September 16, 2026, this Vision Cast puts Rachel, self-declared "Rebel Rachel," back in the host chair, with JC at her side and Rita happily returning to the fold. Preston, Donald, Nora, Katie, and Salvis on the audio controls round out the crew, George dials in by phone, and a surprise face from the past drops in mid-show. Donald opens on the mend from a bug sweeping through his church, sending well wishes to his friend June, and reports he has squashed the stream hiccups and Bluetooth gremlins over at Super Hit Mix Radio. Rachel then confesses the broadcasting disaster of the week: going live from her phone through the Backpack app, she stepped away for Madison's fresh pasta, accidentally closed the app on her return, and watched nearly two hours of her show vanish, then painstakingly rebuilt the whole thing from her saved clips history. With iOS 27 and macOS 27 barely two days old, the crew trades first impressions: VoiceOver users have complaints and JC notes a fix is slated for later in October, Rachel is wrestling a bug that traps her away from the home screen during calls, and the new Apple Intelligence image descriptions genuinely wow the family, reading a church fall-festival flyer down to the petting zoo and the bounce house. Then Rachel unleashes her Suno AI creations: a gloriously filthy country-rock anthem immortalizing the absent Phillip's "Doodles" legend, and, the moment George joins by phone, a wildly NSFW pop-punk roast in his honor, which George absorbs with a legendary "That's nice." Between the songs, the show gets its surprise: Shaun Oliver, Rachel's friend from a radio bunker back in 2015, appears in the call for the first time, trading old stories and raspberry jokes, while Preston reports that Jonathan has reopened that very Phoenix bunker complete with a public server of the old archives. Looking ahead, Rachel announces the Music Mayhem Marathon arriving on KSRN in January, some schedule juggling to make it fit, and the Fall Talent Show she hosts on October 14. Be there or be square. Old friends, new bugs, and songs nobody asked for but everybody needed. That is Vision Cast. Recorded 2026-09-16. Final length 1 hour 45 minutes 20 seconds, mastered to -14 LUFS.

Lumin CEO on Voice-First Email for the Blind, iOS 27 & a Radio Rebrand (Vision Cast 2026.09.09)

Recorded live on September 9, 2026, this Vision Cast is a landmark one: JC hosts and welcomes special guest Sriram Ganesh, co-founder and CEO of Luminade, the San Francisco company behind Lumin, the voice-first email app for iPhone. Around him gather Rachel, George, Preston, Nolan, Donald, Phillip, Willow, Aaron, Veronica, Brittani, and Salvis on the audio controls, with Rita away this week. And yes, Rachel is the host formerly known as Stacey, a name change she shares with the family this very evening. Sriram tells the story behind Lumin: diagnosed with cone-rod dystrophy in his early thirties, the engineer turned his own frustration with screen-reader email into an AI voice assistant he describes as "think Siri, but way better." In a flawless live demo, Lumin reads his inbox aloud in a strikingly natural voice, drafts replies by dictation, summarizes attachments, and books a lunch straight into his calendar, no gestures, no menus, just conversation. The cast peppers him with questions: Lumin supports Gmail and Google Workspace today, the roadmap is driven by user votes with Google Calendar and Outlook leading the queue, and the app is free for everyone who signs up now, with early adopters aspired to stay free even after paid tiers arrive. Find it at trylumin.ai or search "Lumin - Talk to your email" on the App Store Big station news follows: with Rachel's new name, the station becomes the Kreative Synergy Radio Network, Kreative with a K, keeping the beloved KSRN call letters, with a fresh logo, updated schedule, and a SpeakPipe page so listeners worldwide can leave voice messages. Nolan reports strong progress running Windows 11 on the Accessible Virtual Machine, with a live demo coming soon, and JC shares a crisp recording of his buddy Dave Guzman playing the cajon through a PA system. With iOS 27 landing September 14, JC promises a what's-new bonus episode, and Rachel teases a fresh Suno AI demonstration of her own. The evening closes with birthday love for Gabby C, turning twenty, and Rachel's sister Madison, celebrating on Sunday. Voice-first computing, a rebrand with heart, and a family that keeps technology alive. Recorded 2026-09-09. Final length 1 hour 42 minutes 33 seconds, mastered to -14 LUFS.

AI Country Comedy, Mac Text-to-Speech Demo & ChatGPT Radio Magic (Vision Cast 2026.09.02)

Recorded live on September 2, 2026, this Vision Cast has Stacey in the host chair, broadcasting through Backpack Studio, with JC, Rita, George, Donald, Preston, Phillip, Nora, Veronica, Aaron, and Salvis on the audio controls. The family opens by holding Phillip close after the loss listeners heard about last week: his mother Teresa passed away on Thursday afternoon , and Stacey and Donald have recorded a tribute show for KSRN filled with her favorite artists, with the air date to be announced. Phillip thanks the cast for their thoughts and prayers and shares that a joint memorial service is being planned for his mother and father. Then the tech engines start. Donald unveils his biggest Super Hit Mix Radio upgrade yet: with ChatGPT as his coding partner, he built listener-selectable genre streams, from country and R&B to smooth jazz and oldies, running through Cloudflare tunnels with no port forwarding and no DJ chatter. Preston, arriving fresh from burgers on his George Foreman grill, announces the on-demand Genre Spotlight Library and his trip to a state convention in Hershey this November. KSRN gets a schedule shake-up: Music Mayhem moves to Tuesday afternoons at 4 PM Pacific while George takes over Friday nights, and the station starts collecting general and holiday listener messages ahead of an October 7 test day, with the hotline at 513-993-9036 . The cast also votes on whether KSRN should become the "Crazy Spirit Radio Network" and overwhelmingly decides that Stacey stays in the name. Stacey strikes again in the AI-music department with a gleefully crude AI-generated country song roasting George and the gang's "doodles" inside jokes, and JC's randomness segment follows with a live demo of To Be Said Pro, a Mac text-to-speech app where he builds custom AI voices, Southern accent included, and exports them to audio files. Rita powers through a weekend cold, and next week brings a special guest: Pat Quinn from Lumen, the voice-email app, joins the show. Technology, grief, laughter, and radio dreams, all in one evening with the Vision Cast family. Recorded 2026-09-02. Final length 1 hour 46 minutes 2 seconds, mastered to -14 LUFS.

Remembering Dolly Parton & Tim Curry, AI Songs & Retro Trivia (Vision Cast 2026.08.26)

Recorded live on August 26, 2026, this Vision Cast gathers nearly the whole family. Rita hosts, joined by JC, George, Donald, Stacey, Willow, Nolan, Preston, Nora, Phillip, and Salvis running the playout system. The episode opens with tributes to two 80-year-old legends the world lost this week: country music queen Dolly Parton, remembered warmly by Rita, and screen icon Tim Curry, whose passing Phillip brings to the show. The mood lifts with an AI-generated music showcase played out by Salvis, from a merciless "Raiders Suck" parody roasting Phillip's beloved football team to two gospel-flavored anthems celebrating JC's 35th birthday with his church family, and an emo-rock West Coast friendship track from Nolan. On the tech side, Stacey explains how she plays the classic 90s trivia game You Don't Know Jack on modern Apple hardware using Shadow PC cloud gaming and Loopback audio routing, with a bonus gameplay episode in the works. Nolan's Technology and More, Nolan's brand-new podcast and YouTube channel, is officially live, and Donald has loaded Super Hit Mix Radio with a mountain of fresh EDM. Stacey's new Zoom Workplace Business line lets her help with hosting duties while Madison is away until November, and Willow returns after a long absence with a new name, sharing with George the news that the two of them are back together. Rita celebrates her mother's 63rd birthday with Costco pizza, hot wings, and a Dolly Parton cookbook recommendation. The show holds Phillip and his brothers close: his mother Teresa, ill since a stroke in 2020, passed away shortly after this episode was recorded. Rest in peace, Teresa. The cast also sends love to Nora as she steps back from the show to focus on life at home. From heartbreak to belly laughs in a single evening, this is Vision Cast at its most human: technology, music, faith, and a found family that shows up for each other. Recorded 2026-08-26. Final length 1 hour 59 minutes 16 seconds, mastered to -14 LUFS.
