Self-Abandonment: The Ways We Leave Ourselves

How often do we abandon ourselves without even realizing we're doing it? In this solo episode of Presently Aquí, I explore self-abandonment—the ways we disconnect from our needs, feelings, truth, boundaries, and intuition in order to preserve something outside of ourselves. We talk about people-pleasing, saying yes when we mean no, ignoring our body's signals, overriding our intuition, and the ways we've learned to sacrifice pieces of ourselves in order to feel safe, accepted, or loved. I also explore the connection between self-abandonment and self-trust, and why every time we listen to ourselves and honor what we hear, we begin rebuilding that trust. This isn't about judging or shaming the ways we've abandoned ourselves in the past. It's about becoming aware of them with compassion so we can begin choosing differently. Because coming home to yourself isn't only about finding yourself—it's learning not to leave yourself again. Healing Trauma, Reclaiming Intimacy & Learning to Receive

What happens when healthy love arrives... but your body doesn't know how to receive it? In this heartfelt episode of Presently Aquí, I sit down with Samantha Gilhooly, a confidence and intimacy coach trained in Somatic and EMDR who has spent over 13 years helping survivors of sexual violence come home to their bodies, reclaim their power, and create healthier relationships. Together, we explore how trauma can shape our relationship with love, intimacy, safety, and self-worth—and why something healthy can sometimes feel unfamiliar to a nervous system that learned to survive. Samantha shares powerful insights on rebuilding safety within the body, recognizing self-sabotaging patterns, setting boundaries, shifting our internal dialogue, and creating a new identity beyond what happened to us. We also dive into what it means to reclaim intimacy after trauma, the importance of emotional safety, and how we can begin opening ourselves to healthy, reciprocal love. This conversation is a beautiful reminder that healing isn't only about understanding our past. It's also about coming home to ourselves, reclaiming what was always ours, and learning that it is safe to receive the love we deserve. You Are Not Your Thoughts: How to Stop Letting Your Mind Control You

You have thoughts—but you are not your thoughts. In this solo episode of Presently Aquí, Claudia explores how the thoughts and beliefs we carry can be shaped by childhood experiences, conditioning, relationships, and the world around us—and why learning to observe those thoughts is such an important part of knowing ourselves. Through mindfulness and meditation, we can begin creating space between our thoughts and recognize that we don't have to believe or react to everything the mind tells us. Instead of: Thought → Emotion → Reaction We can practice: Thought → Awareness → Choice Claudia also shares the meditation practice that first helped her discover the space between her own thoughts more than 20 years ago and offers a question for deeper reflection: What thought have I been carrying as truth that may no longer belong to me? Because the goal isn't to silence the mind. It's to remember who is observing it. If this conversation resonates with you, I'd love to have you join our growing community. Remember Who You Are: Reclaiming Identity, Community & Belonging

What if the deepest healing isn't about becoming someone new... but remembering who you've always been? In this heartfelt episode of Presently Aquí, I sit down with Ber-Henda Williams—a bilingual poet, storyteller, media producer, and founder of Culture Shift(Hers) Unite™—a womanist multimedia platform exploring storytelling, civic imagination, relational leadership, and communal care. Through her work, Ber-Henda creates spaces where people can reimagine more humane ways of living, leading, and belonging together. Together, we explore what it means to move from survival to belonging, the wisdom of mindfulness, ancestral remembrance, identity, community, and the healing power of simply coming home to ourselves. ✨ In this episode, we explore:  Why belonging begins within Mindfulness as a practice of remembrance The importance of community and relational healing Women's wisdom and the sacred feminine How storytelling shapes identity and healing Creativity, poetry, and imagination as pathways to transformation Living with greater intention, authenticity, and compassion Ber-Henda's reflections remind us that before the world gave us labels, expectations, and identities... we already belonged. If you've ever felt disconnected from yourself, questioned where you belong, or longed to live more authentically, this conversation is an invitation to pause, breathe, and remember. Reality Has an Interface: The Hidden Power of Self-Awareness

Guest Nathaniel Gillis joins me for a thought-provoking conversation exploring consciousness, discernment, anomalous phenomena, and the hidden power of self-awareness. Nathaniel is the founder of Necronetics, a research framework dedicated to studying anomalous intelligences, and the host of ParaSymposia. As an international lecturer and religious demonologist, his work examines possession accounts, contactee experiences, and abduction reports as Interface Events to be thoughtfully explored rather than simply believed or dismissed. Together, we move beyond fear-based discussions of paranormal phenomena and into something far more universal: the importance of knowing ourselves. What happens when mindfulness meets anomalous research? Can self-awareness deepen our discernment? And how do we begin to distinguish between our conditioning, our thoughts, and our authentic selves? Rather than asking you what to believe, this conversation invites you to become more curious, more present, and more deeply connected with yourself. My hope is that, by the end of this episode, you'll find yourself reflecting on one simple question: Who am I when I truly know myself? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Nathaniel's Links: Website: https://parasymposia.com YouTube:  @nathanieljgillis  Instagram: www.instagram.com/thenathanielgillis Threads: www.threads.com/@thenathanielgillis  ______________________________________________________ Claudia Torres Intuitive Mindfulness & Meditation Guide  Founder of Presently Aqui www.presentlyaqui.com
