    This week on LEISURE LINK with Peter Greco: Luke Pople has been selected for the Wombats, Australia's men's wheelchair basketball team for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Daniel Scali shared taking part in planking for Sarcoma, and some of Daniel's health challenges, and how planking has helped make him stronger in mind; body and spirit. July is Sarcoma Awareness month. Olivia Nassarris, CEO for Parkinsons Australia, spoke about their submission to the NDIS senate enquiry, and how people with Parkinsons are trying to navigate My Aged Care. Allison Davies, Music therapist, reported in from a mental health conference on the Gold Coast. Elyse Hicks, State Manager for Special Olympics in South Australia, invited all to the Polar Plunge 12th July at Henley Beach - helping send the South Australian team to the Nationals in Melbourne in October. Reeva Brice conducted her very popular Yoga on the Radio.     This week on LEISURE LINK with Peter Greco: Megan  McLoughlin, dressage rider who lives with a vision impairment, invited all to Dressage in the Dark, 2nd July Lyrical Acres 183 Dawkins Road, Lewiston SA at as part of Disability Pride Month. Nathan Pepper updated us on the SANFL Apm Employment League, AFL wheelchair and blind and low vision competitions. Dr Kari Seeley, CEO for No Strings Attached, was very excited about their season of “Hamlet: The Loneliest” at Slingsby's Hall of Possibility, rear of 96 Glen Osmond Road. Audio Described: Saturday 27th Auslan interpreted Sunday, 28th June. Pam Mitchell, Resident Counsellor, spoke about change. Alice Rolls, SA Minister for Domestic, family and sexual abuse, and child protection, talked about the Lived Experience Advisory Group, (LEAG) that is being formed - a response to one of the recommendations from the recent Royal Commission. Josephine Nicholls's son Nic was diagnosed with a brain tumour leading to Brain Wave coming into being. 30 years later Nic's well and Brain Wave is making a real difference to many other families who are going through what Jo; Nic and their family went through. Katrine Hildyard, Minister for Human Services in South Australia, spoke about the state budget; homelessness and Street Connect; and "answered" Belle's question about funding independent advocacy. Joe Alfonso, Growth Manager for We Walk, invited all to check out their orientation & mobility cane, apps, at Tech Fest – 17th June at U City, 43 Franklin Street Adelaide Chelsea Marchetti, putting "fiz" in to physiotherapy from the Flipper academy, shared  information on the role of a physiotherapist for chest + respiratory challenges. Associate Professor Sina Vatandoust, Director at Southern Oncology Clinical Research Unit and a Medical Oncologist at Southern Oncology SA, spoke about Early-onset gastro-intestinal cancer rates surging among young Australians and called for urgent action. Emma Read, Residential Funding and Accommodation Managerat Resthaven, had news on accessing services; and answers often asked questions when seeking aged care services. Lisa-Maree Walker, paid a moving tributey to the Late Elise Londsdale, advocate; technologist and educator. Elise sadly passed away last week.     This week on LEISURE LINK with Peter Greco: Katelin Gunn, was off to Spain with the Aussie Gliders Women's Wheelchair Basketball Team, to qualify for the World Championships in Ottawa later this year, Amy Roe, secretary of Blind Cricket South Australia, invited all to celebrations of 100 years of blind cricket in South Australia in October 2026. This features matches between SA & Vic; a dinner and an historical tour of blind cricket in South Australia. to express interest in attending, email David Young was just back from the Australian blind bowls Nationals; a training camp for the Australian squad; and invited all to a come n try day, Sunday 21st June, 11 am, at the Playford bowling Club, Goodman Road Elizabeth, next door to the Central Districts Football Club. David Mitchell, health commentator, spoke about loneliness, and had some easy to follow and free tips to better manage it. David will soon bring out a Youtube clip too. Claire Jenkins, mother of a child with peanut allergy, chatted about a New gamified school learning tool tackling allergy awareness and safety. Liz de Somer, CEO for Medicines Australia, shed light on a recent report, "Access Denied",  revealing Australians are waiting an average of 3.6 years to access innovative and often life-saving medicines that are already available overseas.     This week on LEISURE LINK with Peter Greco: Ben Tudhope, four-time Winter-Paralympian shared his inspirational winning of a silver and bronze medal at the 2026 winter Paralympics; and had an empowering message for any person or family member with a disability. Chris Edwards, Chief Mission Officer at Vision Australia, explained why the AM signal for radio stations in Adelaide; Melbourne; and Perth are shutting down from 1st July and how you can access the station via a digital radio; online or through the Community Radio app.   Melanie Kieley, CEO for MS WA, spoke about World MS Day events in Western Australia; South Australia; and the Northern Territory, and updated us on services in SA and NT are progressing. Allison Davies, music therapist; is a devotee of music festivals, what are/were some of the good; bad and; indifferent about such events. Chris Tanti, CEO for the Leukemia Foundation, had research about “scanxiety” where people diagnosed with cancer worry about living from scan to scan,  and encouraged giving to the foundation so they can continue their services. Tricia Crockford has been chosen to coach the Rubies - the South Australian netball team to the Marie Little OAM Shield Nationals in Melbourne. How is the team's preparation going, and the C6 competition has a "new" team? Kristy Stichter invited those living in the north-west of Tasmania to their Blind Citizens Australia catch up Wednesday 10th June at the Cafe Europa Burnie. Melanie Chatfield, National Policy Officer from Blind Citizens Australia, responded to the NDIS news, budget announcements and encouraged people to make a submission. Joseph Stephen is doing exciting work and progress with the Dotpad, a multi-line refreshable braille display, using screen readers and more. The Dotpad will feature at Tech Fest U city 43 Franklin Street Adelaide, 17th June 17th, Naomi Bonacci-Roca has cared for family member since the age of 7. Naomi spoke about the impact on her and other young carers education; employment and how her own health and earning potential is also effected. Hayley Percy, Senior Curator of Music for Rising Melbourne, was enthused and passionate about the 2026 line up. John Duncan, Chief Operating Officer for Brake Driver Awareness, spoke about National Road Safety week, and the work John and his team are doing educating youngsters before getting their license. Leanne Sheil, from Magnifiers Australia, is coming to TechFest, U City, 43 Franklin Street Adelaide 17th June 17th. Leanne had some inexpensive; simple products and information that is making a huge difference to people with macular degeneration, and their quality of life.   find out how the correct lighting can make an wonderful impact, TechFest is put on by See Differently, Aasha Rose PHD, student from the University of Southern Queensland, researching braille and the impact on people's quality of life. Assha and will be presenting at the Round Table for Information Access for People with a Print Disability.
