Ep. 12 (Part 2): Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

Simon Sinek was right. People buy your product when they believe WHY you do what you do. I so damn believe Steve Jobs's design philosophy and I have been a cult follower ever since I got a hold of an iPhone 3gs. It was inspiring, interesting, and so stimulating. I simply loved every product he put out because I know what he's trying to achieve and why in such a way. Naysayers can say whatever they want about Apple products but it will take something more than amazing to make me shift. And I think that says a lot about how this marketing genius has made me feel -- more than the status, it made me believe that we "the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes ... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo." have a place and that we can change the world despite and in spite. We can be who we are and we don't need to line up according to how things are "supposed to be". That empowerment alone deserves my loyalty. Reading this humongous book just made me understand the inner workings of his mind. I am not a genius but I can relate in so many ways, at so many levels. We are probably outrageous and live out in the same out-of-this-world dimension. This book is definitely one of my favorites-- one I reread when I need creativity and power. 3. Ep. 11: Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life by Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia

Ep. 11: Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life by Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia

“If hygge is the art of doing nothing, ikigai is the art of doing something—and doing it with supreme focus and joy.” —New York Post According to the Japanese, everyone has an ikigai—a reason for living. And according to the residents of the Japanese village with the world’s longest-living people, finding it is the key to a happier and longer life. Having a strong sense of ikigai—the place where passion, mission, vocation, and profession intersect—means that each day is infused with meaning. It’s the reason we get up in the morning. It’s also the reason many Japanese never really retire. They remain active and work at what they enjoy, because they’ve found a real purpose in life—the happiness of always being busy. In researching this book, the authors interviewed the residents of the Japanese village with the highest percentage of 100-year-olds—one of the world’s Blue Zones. Ikigai reveals the secrets to their longevity and happiness: how they eat, how they move, how they work, how they foster collaboration and community, and—their best-kept secret—how they find the ikigai that brings satisfaction to their lives. And it provides practical tools to help you discover your own ikigai (Books.Google.com, n.d., para. 2).  --- Follow #BestQuotesFrom Podcast on Anchor, Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Breaker, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, or wherever you get your podcast. 4. Ep. 10: Heaven is For Real (Ted Burpo) + A Man Called Ove (Fredrick Backman)

Ep. 10: Heaven is For Real (Ted Burpo) + A Man Called Ove (Fredrick Backman)

Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back documents the report of a near-death experience by Burpo's three-year-old son Colton. Colton told his parents he left his body during an appendectomy and authenticated that claim by describing exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital while he was being operated on (Good Reads, n.d., para. 2). It has been adapted into a movie and is currently available on AppleTV! A Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman. Ove is the quintessential angry old man next door. An isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse, who spends his days enforcing block association rules that only he cares about, and visiting his wife's grave, Ove has given up on life. After a boisterous young family moves in next door and accidentally flattens Ove's mailbox, an unlikely friendship forms. It is also a Swedish comedy-drama film (watch the trailer here), which soon will be a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks (2022). P.S. I just saw the trailer and realized Ove is pronounced as ǔːvɛ; please forgive my mispronunciation :D --- Follow #BestQuotesFrom Podcast on Anchor, Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Breaker, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, or wherever you get your podcast.
