Bad Blood: The Final Chapter

Mesmerized by the first six eps of Bad Blood. I dutifully sat through the ads as I’m an honorable person. Then halfway through the seventh I’m forced to pony up for a paid subscription to be able to hear the rest? Hard pass, and bad form.

I read the book and loved it, phenomenal pacing and reporting. It was a fascinating and page turning account. I thought this podcast would expand on the book and report mostly on events after its conclusion. Instead it plods through the main points of the book in a far less engaging and detailed way. Unlike the book, the tone skews polemic, which is completely unnecessary as the facts speak for themselves in this case. The last episode barely covers anything that happened at trial and is so lazily scripted and edited that “ya know” appears dozens of times throughout the discussion. Save your time on this podcast and just read the book.

I have listened to many true crime podcasts and to put this podcast in with the other’s does it a great injustice. The story of the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos is captivating. John’s podcast is told with integrity, authenticity and honesty. He meticulously takes you on a journey through the eyes and ears who were a part of it. John’s resources were relevant not random or third party speculation. His reputation as a journalist gave him the credibility that held the door open for all of those from The world according to Elizabeth Holmes to walk through and tell their truth. He told a story without bias or judgement, just the facts. After listening to his podcast I immediately purchased his book. For anyone who has watched The Drop Out on Netflix, his podcast and his book takes it to a whole other level!

Such an excellent podcast and reporting by the ever honest and honorable John Carreyrou!! Thank you for your excellent and good-hearted reporting. You give me faith in American society and the public thanks and adores you!!!!
