Fearless Cities is an informal global movement of activists, organizations, councilors and mayors that are working to radicalize democracy, feminize politics and drive the transition to an economy that cares for people and our environment. The first Fearless Cities event was organized by Barcelona En Comú in 2017, and was attended by over 700 people representing over 100 municipalist organizations from every continent. The book documenting the first Fearless city Summit has been translated into five languages.

Without a doubt, the people who live in it. Real estate speculation has sent cities into a destructive spiral where residents are pushed out. In this session, we'll discuss the emergence of movements that defend the right to housing and municipalist policies that can help to save cities. === La ciudad como hogar: el derecho a la vivienda === ¿Qué hace que una ciudad sea una ciudad y no sólo un conjunto de edificios? Sin duda, las personas que viven en ella. La especulación inmobiliaria ha introducido las ciudades entren en una espiral que las destruye: la expulsión de sus vecinos y vecinas. But what happens when the state fights back? Around the world we’ve seen municipal jurisdictions assert themselves only to have regional or state governments circumscribe their power. And if we elect municipal candidates to regional or federal governments how do we ensure their allegiance remains to the confederated municipalities?  === La ciudad vs el Estado === Una tesis importante del municipalismo es que las ciudades empoderadas se despojarán lentamente del estado centralizado del poder, acercando la autoridad a las personas a nivel local. Pero, ¿qué sucede cuando el estado contraataca? En todo el mundo hemos visto que las jurisdicciones municipales se imponen solo para que los gobiernos regionales o estatales circunscriban su poder.
