I think it’s a good show and has opened me up to a lot of new ideas from the books that they recommend. However, I am glad that I read the books myself and don’t just take their analysis because they bring in their own bias where they act as if they are the most knowledgeable about everything. They have bashed pediatricians as giving terrible advice and not knowing anything while they glorify SLPs, which is super counterproductive but seems to be the American way of bashing other professionals instead of trying to collaborate with them for better outcomes. They complain that the authors of the books they read do not use the term executive function, and why would they? They may not be familiar with the term but they clearly grasp the concepts as they write books advocating for teaching and supporting them? One book they reviewed had a newer edition that incorporated additional information pertinent to how the Covid pandemic affected education and society but because they already bought the older version of the book, they used the version with more limited information instead of the most pertinent. I enjoy the book recommendations but they could do a little less bashing and acting as if they have singlehanded can come up with all the solutions. That’s not the mindset we want as we advocate for education reform and teaching kids about perspective taking and collaboration, which is a huge part of executive function.
