Operation Truth

Lou Palumbo and Tom Fuentes

I'm Lou Palumbo. I spent 53 years in law enforcement and a lot of years traveling, listening, and learning from people smarter than me. This show is called Operation Truth because that's the whole idea. No agenda. Nobody paying me to say anything. I'm not here to tell you who to vote for or how to think. I'm here to give you food for thought. Every week I take on the things this country can't seem to talk about without going at each other's throats. Guns. Immigration. The media. The technology watching all of us. I'll tell you what I've seen firsthand, I'll tell you when I don't know something, and I'll ask you to fact check me. But I'm going to ask you for three things while we do this. Civility. Decency. Respect. Those left the conversation somewhere along the way, and I think that costs us more than any single issue does. Mostly, this show is about our children. My generation broke a lot of what they were supposed to believe in. The least we can do now is be honest with them. You don't have to agree with me. I'll still be your friend.

He Ran The FBI's Organized Crime Program. I Worked For A Colombo Capo.

Tom Fuentes ran the FBI's worldwide organized crime program. I worked security for a capo in the Colombo family. This week we put those two careers in the same room and went at the Kennedy assassination. Tom walks it through step by step. The Bay of Pigs, and why the CIA never forgave Kennedy for it. The order he signed in October of 1963 pulling our advisors out of Vietnam, and who stood to lose trillions if that order held. What his father promised the mob to get him elected, and what happened when Bobby got the Justice Department instead. Before that we get into COVID and what came out of the Fauci hearings. We get into guns, and the number nobody mentions when they promise you gun control. And we come back to the same place we always do, which is what we're handing our kids. 70 Years Of Law Enforcement Between Us. Here's What Worries Us.

Tom Fuentes is back with me this week. He's the former Assistant Director of the FBI who ran their entire international operation, and he's exactly one day older than I am, which he'll never let me forget. We get into Iran, and I ask him the question nobody's asking. Who briefed the president on what Iran could actually do? Because Israel had people inside that country planting explosives in pagers. Somebody should have known. We get into Russia and Ukraine, and Tom explains why he doesn't think either side walks away from this able to save face. We get into the FBI itself, and Tom doesn't soften it. I called what happened there bumps and grinds. He told me that's too polite. And we get into the thing underneath all of it, which is what we're handing our young people. In this episode: The one reason Iran doesn't fit the nuclear logic that held for fifty yearsWhat a license plate reader could do in 1973, and what it took to fix itWhy Tom thinks our schools stopped teaching the things that matter mostNo agenda. The 51st State Of The Union Is Denial

I took a little hiatus. Now I'm back, and I want to start with an apology to our children. My generation broke almost every institution they were supposed to believe in. The government. The media. Science. Our schools. We didn't do a good job, and I think we owe them the truth about it. So that's what this show is. No agenda. Nobody telling you who to vote for. Just what I know after 53 years in law enforcement and a lot of years traveling and listening to people smarter than me. Today I get into guns, and I say some things you probably haven't heard. I get into immigration and the numbers nobody reports. And I get into the cameras and the technology that are watching all of us right now. In this episode, you'll learn: Why banning guns misses the actual problem, and what we screen for insteadThe immigration number that's bigger than the border, and why nobody says it out loudWhat happens when police get a tool with no controls on it... and 24 officers found outIf you want more conversations like this one, follow the show.
