Why are we so obsessed with nostalgia and whimsy? (ft. Loti from Mama Makes)

Welcome back to the Crafternoon Podcast hosted by Daisy @MyGreenCow and Meg @megjournals 📖✨ This week we're joined by Loti from @mamamakes . Loti is the mama, maker and professional glitter spiller behind Mama Makes. Since 2017, Loti has been helping makers find joy in creativity, connection and a little bit of crafty chaos. She invents tools, designs crafty goodies, and sometimes pops up on craft TV or at stationery events. In this episode, Loti shares an honest look at her business journey and why she pivoted from TV presenting to making craft products she loves to use in her own journals. We also discussed the power of nostalgia in journaling and planning (vintage Filofax, anyone?) and how the 'whimsy trend' gives us permission to play and enjoy our crafty hobbies. We hope you enjoy joining us for this crafternoon! 🌸 Follow Loti! How to keep a journal that brings you joy ft. @ella_nym

Welcome back to the Crafternoon Podcast hosted by Daisy @MyGreenCow and Meg @megjournals 📖✨ This week, Meg is joined by Chris from @ella_nym to talk about nurturing your creativity, finding a journaling system that works for you, and deconstructing Hobonichis (!) This was such a delightful conversation about how we can heal our inner artist, document the things that bring us joy, and show up as ourselves in the pages of our journals. Grab a cuppa and your journal or craft supplies, and join us for a crafternoon! Chris is a poet & multi-disciplinary maker who publishes under the pseudonym Ella Nym. Living in rural Maine with her two cats (Freida and Suki), she is a handmade-website lover, lifelong learner, and devoted member of the "i-love-journaling" fan club. Her making practice consists of experimenting with different mediums such as fiber arts, paper crafts, and more — usually with a focus on process over product, experimentation, and finding the beauty in everyday things. She documents her creative life at the intersection of digital and analog practices across YouTube, Substack (Nym's Notes), and Patreon.
