89 – Is 1 Peter for Jews or Gentiles? | Dr. Kelly Liebengood

For those of us who read the Bible from a Messianic Jewish perspective, 1 Peter presents a problem. On the surface, Peter seems to be telling an audience of Gentiles that they, and not Israel, are now the chosen people. Dr. Kelly Liebengood has recently released a manuscript called Reading 1 Peter after Supersessionism, in which he shares his research on Peter’s inclusive language. Gentile followers of Jesus have always faced a challenge when forming a new identity, but the nature of this new identity does not preclude the continuing status of Israel as the people of God. Join us as we wrestle through post-supersessionist scholarship to find the message of Peter that applies even today.  👉 Key Discussion Points:  ► The Concept of “Gentile Israelhood” is a concept Dr. Liebengood uses to express that Gentile believers are invited into a shared identity where they belong to the God of Israel. Dr. Liebengood argues they are “grafted-in” to Israel’s story without erasing their own Gentile identity or stealing the unique status of the Jewish people.  ► The Challenge of Audience Identification in 1 Peter is a scholarly tug-of-war. A Jewish audience fits the letter’s “national” language but contradicts descriptions of the readers’ former pagan ignorance; conversely, a Gentile audience risks supporting “replacement theology” unless read through a post-supersessionist lens. How can this tension be resolved?  ► A post-supersessionist reading of 1 Peter underscores the trustworthiness of God. The debate over 1 Peter is ultimately about the character of God. If God were to abandon his specific promises to Israel to start over with a new group, he would be fundamentally untrustworthy. A post-supersessionist reading ensures that God is seen as a faithful promise-keeper to all.  🔖  Chapters  00:00 Kelly's Journey to Post-Supersessionism  13:22 1 Peter and the Significance of Audience  07:56 Understanding Suffering in 1 Peter  19:03 Theological Implications of Audience Interpretation  26:29 Understanding “Israelhood”   31:42 Challenges of Gentile Identity Formation  34:21 Viewing Peter's Audience as Converts  39:48 Dating 1 Peter  44:32 Suffering in 1 Peter  48:10 Ecclesiology and Gentile Identity  51:24 Future Directions in Scholarship  1:00:20 Theological Implications for Gentile Followers  1:05:10 Re-narrating the Bible’s Bigger Picture  1:07:57 The Need for Dialogue in Scholarship  👉  Resources:  ► Reading 1 Peter after Supersessionism, Dr. Kelly Liebengood  ► Dismantling Replacement Theology ► Biblical Blueprint of Peoplehood ► Israel – Forgetfulness – Who is Messiah Podcast? – Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with God's prophetic promises to Israel. 88 – Hello, Mrs. Rachel: Breaking the Internet with Messianic Content

Can a stay-at-home mom with a gift of gab change the way the world views the Jewish Jesus? The viral @HelloMrsRachel, a third generation Messianic Jew joins Messiah podcast to reveal the David-and-Goliath reality of being a Messianic creator today. From dealing with heresy-hunting hate-watchers to answering deep theological DMs from curious Christians and searching Chasidic Jews, Rachel shares how she balances viral success with a heart-centered faith that refuses to get stuck in the "heady" world of theology. 👉 Key Discussion Points: ► The Struggle of the “In-Between": Messianic Jews often experience a unique form of double-rejection from both the Christian and Jewish communities. Rachel found that sharing this specific tension on social media resonated deeply with others who feel they don't fit into traditional boxes. ► Jewish Identity as a Testimony of God's Faithfulness: Retaining Jewish identity and traditions after following Jesus is seen as a living testimony that God keeps his promises. Rachel argues that if God were to "break" his specific promises to the Jewish people, it would undermine the security of his promises to all believers. ► The David and Goliath Mindset: Rachel views her platform as a way to confront demonic lies and misinformation about Messianic Jews and about Israel. This gives her purpose in being a small voice for truth against big mobs. 🔖  Chapters 00:00 Meet @HelloMrsRachel: Breakout Content Creator 02:30 Third-Generation Faith: Rachel's Upbringing 08:28 Parenting and Passing the Torch to the Fourth Generation 10:24 Marriage Dynamics: When Two Messianic Jews Disagree 11:16 The "Niddah" Conversation in a McDonald's Drive-Thru 14:12 Raising Children in an Interfaith/Christian World 16:10 How to Become a Messianic Social Media Mogul 21:09 Impact over Numbers: The Responsibility of Influence 24:30 Christians Asking the Big Questions About Jewish Roots 28:24 Head vs. Heart: Balancing Theology with Simple Worship 32:43 Dealing with Hate-Watchers and Misinformation 36:56 Why Modern Jews Shouldn't Have to Assimilate 41:50 God's Promises: Why Jesus Being Jewish Changes Everything 46:51 Rachel's Favorite Messianic First Fruits of Zion Resources 👉  Resources: Hello Mrs. Rachel Social Media Accounts: YouTube / Instagram / Tiktok  HelloMrsRachel Article on Messiah Online FFOZ Reacts to a React to Hello Mrs. Rachel Educational Materials for Kids The Sabbath Table Prayer Book – Who is Messiah Podcast? – Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with God's prophetic promises to Israel. 87. Decoding Cody: Autism, Angels, and Telepathy on Trial | Pastor Joe Infranco

The Telepathy Tapes took the podcast world by storm in 2024. All of a sudden, we had falsifiable evidence that non-speaking autistic people could read minds. But this phenomenon was only the tip of a massive iceberg. What the Telepathy Tapes refused to publicize was the fact that these individuals relate messages from the God of Israel and from Jesus himself, expressions of unfathomable love, calls to repentance and reminders that Jesus is coming quickly. Our guest, Pastor Joe Infranco, exercised the intellectual rigor he learned in his first career as an attorney to get to the bottom of this phenomenon. 👉 Key Discussion Points: ► Biblical Gifts vs. "Telepathy": While some secular observers label the ability to know others' thoughts as "telepathy," Joe Infranco frames this phenomenon within the context of 1 Corinthians 12 spiritual gifts, such as "prophetic insight" or a "word of knowledge." He notes that many of these individuals are highly empathetic and "pick up thoughts" or see spiritual colors around people rather than experiencing literal, radio-like mind reading. ► A Rigorous Testing of the Supernatural: As a former attorney, Infranco uses a "preponderance of the evidence" legal standard to validate supernatural claims. He argues that instead of demanding absolute certainty, believers should weigh evidence. Does the message provided line up biblically? Do the speakers have any motivation to lie? With objections and evidence on a scale which side is more persuasive? ► God’s Use of "Overlooked Instruments": A central theme of the episode is that God may be choosing "heretofore overlooked instruments" to communicate ancient truths to the modern world. Infranco shares that many non-speaking individuals report seeing into the spiritual realm—including angels, demons, and Jesus—and feel a divine mandate to share messages of love and calls to repentance with a world that has often ignored them. 🔖 Chapters 00:00 From Attorney to Pastor: A Journey of Faith 03:55 The Phenomenon of Telepathy and Spiritual Gifts 08:28 Skepticism and Validation: The Journey of Belief 14:13 Theological Concerns and Spiritual Discernment 24:12 Providing Biblical Perspectives to Spiritual Experiences 31:59 Beyond a Reasonable Doubt 34:59 Messages from the Spiritual Realm 38:35 Seeing the Future and Angels 41:59 The Nature of Heaven and Relationship with God 45:35 The Role of Autism in God's Plan 49:19 Jewish Concepts Revealed through Autistic 53:20 Signs of the Times: Prophetic Insights 57:29 God's Unique Strategies in Reaching People 01:00:34 Hope and the Future of Faith 👉 Resources: Instagram: @pastorjoeinfranco Hidden Gifts Ministry Decoding Cody: Secrets of the Spectrum from People with Autism Who See, Hear, and Smell in the Unseen Realm  The Telepathy Tapes – Who is Messiah Podcast? – Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with God's prophetic promises to Israel. 86 – My Son Sees Angels: Revelations from Non-Speaking Autism | Tahni Cullen

In 2024, the podcast about profoundly disabled, non-speaking autistic children who knew what their caretakers were thinking debuted and skyrocketed to the top of the charts. What the “Telepathy Tapes Podcast” didn’t discuss was that these individuals were also seeing angels, demons, and Jesus himself. They even reportedly received messages from God for the rest of us. Tahni Cullen joins Messiah Podcast to share her family’s remarkable journey raising a non-speaking autistic son, and how Scripture, prayer, and discernment shaped their response to mystical experiences that challenged a material worldview. This conversation focuses less on telepathy and more on theology, biblical guardrails, and the goodness of God.    👉 Key Discussion Points:  ► The Gift of Prophecy: Jewish tradition says that when the Temple was destroyed the spirit of prophecy was given to the “simple.” This offers a framework for understanding why non-speaking autistic individuals like Josiah, who are marginalized by society due to their inability to speak, may be recipients of profound spiritual insights and prophetic revelations. The modern world may have "shut off" its ability to listen. But God’s desire to speak has not changed.  ► Reframing Suffering: Tahni shares how the crisis of parenting a son with extreme autism challenged her to question the blessing of God. Where was the promise of blessing when walking in obedience? Her journey led her to learn the true nature of God during suffering. Josiah’s first independent sentence was: "God is a good gift giver." This realization became a foundational truth for their family to lean on in the midst of hardship.  ►  The Importance of Spiritual Discernment: While the broader "Telepathy Tapes" phenomenon is often framed through science or New Age spirituality, Tahni encourages Christians to "listen with discernment" rather than fear. The popular-level conversation often may "edit out Jesus" from these experiences; nevertheless, the phenomenon has actually led to spiritual awakenings, prompting seekers and even atheists to want to read the Bible and know God.    🔖 Chapters  00:00 Introduction to Tahni Cullen and her son Josiah  02:46 Intersection of Science and Faith via Non-Speaking Autism   12:29 Personal Journey to Find a Hope in Coping with Autism  21:23 Josiah's Breakthrough: “God Is a Good Gift-Giver”  24:06 Josiah's Prophetic Insights and Spiritual Messages  30:48 The Significance of Hebrew Letters and Jewish Holidays  36:21 Learning from a Heavenly Academy    37:30 The Priestly Breastplate and a Letter Board  43:17 Communicating with the Realm of the Dead  47:29 Discernment for Spiritual Gifts and Experiences  55:32 The Interconnection of Body, Soul, and Spirit  01:03:49 Pointing to Jesus  01:10:26 Empowering Non-Speaking Autistic Individuals    👉 Resources  ►  Josiah's Fire Facebook page ►  Book: “Josiah's Fire: Autism Stole His Words, God Gave Him a Voice”  ►  The Spellers – Who is Messiah Podcast? – Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with God's prophetic promises to Israel. 85 – Jordan Rubin on The Biblio Diet: God’s Plan for Health & Wellness

Join this conversation with Jewish follower of Jesus Jordan Rubin, for an exclusive glimpse into his faith journey and the story behind his newest NY Times best-selling book, The Biblio Diet. We delve into the ancient wisdom of the Bible that is confirmed by modern science, including food, fasting, and farming. We also explore where FFOZ’s Biblically Kosher intersects—and diverges—from The Biblio Diet. Transcending what we put on our plates, this episode delves into creation, covenant, and even the future God is preparing for us.   👉 Key Discussion Points: ► The "Biblio Diet" Approach to Food Laws: Guest Jordan Rubin presents the idea of the "Biblio Diet" as a biblically based lifestyle that views the Bible's food passages as the key to health and longevity for everyone. The term Biblio Diet means to "eat by the book"—both the Bible and doing things as they were intended. ►  The Physiological Rationale for Clean Animals: The designation of clean animals (like ruminants that chew the cud and have split hooves) is based on their unique digestive systems, which efficiently process fibrous, undigestible materials into highly nutritious, healthy meat loaded with essential nutrients like protein, B12, iron, and good fats. Conversely, detestable animals, such as pigs and shellfish, were functionally created to be the earth's "garbage cans" or "toilet bowls," making them physiologically unfit for human consumption. ►  The Spiritual and Physical Benefits of Fasting: Fasting is a vital, biblically supported practice that offers both physical and spiritual benefits, leading to promises like "your healing will spring forth speedily" (Isaiah 58). Daily or intermittent fasting allows the body time to rest, repair, cleanse, and detoxify. By pushing back the first meal, even partial fasting can yield amazing results, and the feeling of hunger can become a great time to cling to God.   🔖  Chapters 00:00 Introduction to the Podcast and Guests 01:54 Jordan Rubin's Journey as a Messianic Jew 04:28 Understanding the Biblio Diet 11:56 The Importance of Clean and Unclean Animals 17:13 Science & Spiritual Implications of Dietary Choices 26:54 Covenantal Perspectives on Food 20:57 The Role of Personal Conviction in Dietary Choices 40:45 Exploring Fasting and Its Benefits 50:18 Regenerative Farming for The Garden of Eden 2.0 56:20 Healing Leaves: Nature's Medicine   👉  Resources The Biblio Diet: https://www.jordanrubin.com/thebibliodiet Biblically Kosher: https://ffoz.store/products/biblically-kosher-book  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jordansrubin/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578333310671 X: https://x.com/realjordanrubin LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jordan-rubin/ Website for the free Healing Leaves download: https://w – Who is Messiah Podcast? – Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with God's prophetic promises to Israel. 84 – A Former Muslim’s Analysis of Islam, Israel, and the West | Danny Burmawi

For hundreds of years, secular thinkers in the West have considered Christianity, Judaism, and Islam to have similar claims to the Jewish patriarchs. Our guest today, Danny Burmawi, has a different perspective. A convert from Islam to Christianity, he’s here to argue that Islam’s appropriation of Jewish history is fundamentally flawed, that Islam’s core values are incompatible with democracy, and that Islam’s theological claim to the land of Israel requires a new approach at the negotiating table between Israel and the Islamic world. 👉 Key Takeaways: ► The Quran as “Dictational Inspiration:” Christian and Jewish views of the divine inspiration of religious scriptures allow room for rationality, reasoning, and wrestling with the text. The Quran on the other hand explicitly commands Muslims “not to ask questions.” ► The Political Fabrication of Jerusalem's Holy Status: Jerusalem's status as Islam’s "third holiest city" is a historical and theological fabrication driven by political motives. Muhammad initially prayed toward Jerusalem but changed the direction to Mecca after the Jewish community rejected him. Decades later, a caliph in Damascus politically asserted the Temple Mount was the site of the "Distant Mosque" (Al-Aqsa) during a rivalry with the caliph in Mecca. ► How Islam plans to take over the West: Most Muslims in western countries are not plotting to overthrow their country of residence. Islam as a religious system, however, is a theologically motivated system, whose inherent goal is world domination. This theological mandate makes it an ideological and existential threat. The number of adherents in the west grows due to the promise of strong relational community bonds, and it expands political power through religious loyalty. 🔖  Chapters 00:00 Introductions 01:58 A Radical Muslim becomes a bold follower of Jesus 05:18 Missions to Muslims and its challenges 12:37 The cost of Islamic dogmatism 21:01 Muslims once prayed toward Jerusalem 29:09 The real reason Islam is growing 38:57 The global ambitions of Islam 45:55 Conversion of both people and place to Islam 50:22 Narrative of Islamic victimhood 58:06 What does the future look like? 👉  Resources Book: Islam, Israel and the West: https://www.amazon.com/ISLAM-ISRAEL-WEST-Muslims-Analysis-ebook/dp/B0FP16RQW8 Danny Burmawi Online: https://www.danburmawi.com/ Danny Burmawi on X: https://x.com/DanBurmawy Ex-Hamas Wife Meets Jesus in a Dream: https://youtu.be/6bnBUKY24c4?si=udDjnCo7UcKDI7On – Who is Messiah Podcast? – Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with God's prophetic promises to Israel. 83 – Food, Faith & Freedom – Finally Finding Jesus in Messianic Judaism | Hope Egan

In the first century, Jewish believers in Jesus kept being Jewish. There was no conflict between their Jewish identity and their discipleship. Unfortunately, that changed, and for most of church history, Jewish followers of Jesus had to stop being Jewish. Today, many Jews are seeking God and are interested in Jesus, but they are not interested in giving up their Jewish identity. The solution is Messianic Judaism. Our guest today, First Fruits of Zion's Outreach Coordinator, and this very podcast's associate producer, Hope Egan, is here to share the story of how she found her spiritual home in Messianic Judaism, lost that home, and then found it again. We'll discuss ecclesiology, the food laws, and how to prevent an obsession with theology from derailing your personal walk with God.    👉 Key Discussion Points:  ►  Messianic Judaism Offers a Solution for Jewish Identity and Faith: Messianic Judaism beautifully shows that being Jewish and following Yeshua (Jesus) are not contradictory but deeply connected, just as they were in the first century. If you are a Jewish person seeking God, you can absolutely embrace Yeshua without giving up your rich heritage and identity.  ►  The Spiritual Journey: Finding Your Way Home: Hope Egan's story is an inspiring testament that your spiritual journey is rarely a straight line, and that's okay! Finding your spiritual "home" can sometimes involve a few detours, a period of feeling lost, and the courage to find it again.   ►  Theological Study: A Lifelong Adventure: Don't be discouraged if you feel like you never have all the answers. That's the best part! The exploration of profound truths is a continuous, exciting journey that offers endless opportunities for discovery. Embrace the questions you find with each study; they are the very things that invite you to keep learning.  ►  The Priority: A Personal Walk with God: While it's fascinating to dive deep into theological topics, remember the most essential relationship of all: your personal walk with God. Let your study and passion for theology enrich your relationship, but don’t let it become an obsession that distracts you from loving and walking with him. Keep your focus on your heart connection, and the rest will fall into place!  👉  Resources  HaYesod: The Foundation   Biblically Kosher   Articles What Replaces Replacement Theology?  How the Gentile Church Lost the Jewish Kingdom How misunderstanding one simple New Testament idea derailed the whole church.  Locating the New Testament Church within Judaism and the Jewish People    ✡️  What is Messiah Podcast?  ✝️   Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with – Who is Messiah Podcast? – Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with God's prophetic promises to Israel. 82 – Pioneers of Messianic Worship | Dr. Greg Silverman

The emergence of Messianic Judaism into the American cultural milieu in the 1960s and 70s brought with it a distinct genre of sacred music with roots in Ashkenazi klezmer and traditional Jewish liturgy. Since then, Messianic music has come into its own, having been influenced by a wide variety of genres from wherever the Jewish people have been dispersed. Our guest today, Dr. Greg Silverman, has recently released a documentary called Pioneers of Messianic Worship that chronicles the humble beginnings of this now iconic sound and gives us a hint as to what’s in store for its future. 👉 Key Discussion Points: ►  The Emergence of Messianic Worship: As Messianic congregations formed in the 1960s and 1970s, the founders of modern Messianic Judaism desired to create worship centers that looked and felt more like synagogues than churches. To accomplish this objective, early pioneers like Stuart Dauermann began writing new songs with Ashkenazi, Klezmer, and “Fiddler on the Roof” sounds to resonate authentically with the Jewish people they were trying to reach. ►  The Corporate, God-Centered Nature of Messianic Music: A defining characteristic of Messianic Jewish worship is its emphasis on the corporate (“we”) experience rather than the individualistic (“I”) experience common in contemporary Christian music. This focus on a communal experience as a people group mirrors the language found in traditional Jewish prayer. ►  Traditional Hebrew Liturgies: Messianic music frequently incorporates ancient Hebrew liturgical prayers and melodies into songs. This reinforces the connection with the historical prayers of the Jewish people. The beauty and spiritual discipline of these liturgies—which are often verses from the Bible put in a specific order—are seen as a way to direct the heart and mind toward God’s truth, helping believers stay focused and internalize God’s oneness, mercy, and faithfulness. ►  The Global Impact of Paul Wilbur and the Passing of the Baton: Paul Wilbur stands out as one of the first and most successful artists to connect the Jewish roots of the faith with a worldwide Christian audience. Behind the grand success is a humble, genuine, wholehearted worshiper. The next generation of artists, like Joshua Aaron and Misha Goetz, is taking up the baton and ensuring a future for Messianic worship.   👉  Resources ►  Watch the Documentary: Pioneers of Messianic Worship is available on YouTube.  ►  Greg Silverman’s Ministry: Find music, videos, recordings, and information on training for worship leaders at the Greg Silverman Ministry Website. ►  Sheet Music Resource: Worship leaders can find chord charts and sheet music for Messianic songs.  ►   Follow Greg Silverman on Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube ►  – Who is Messiah Podcast? – Messiah Podcast is a production of First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ), a Messianic Jewish education organization dedicated to reconciling disciples of Yeshua with God's prophetic promises to Israel.
