Tamara Schoon

Are you perpetually single? Do you want longer-lasting relationships? Tired of the miscommunication and misunderstandings? Wish you were better in bed? Advice from experts as well as real talk from real people so that you can see you are not alone in your thoughts and experiences. I talk about sex in my stand-up comedy and people often tell me that I say what they are thinking but are too afraid to say or admit it to their partners; too taboo they think. We'll talk about books we've read on dating, relationships and sex so that you can gain knowledge without having to read all the books yourself. I'll interview people on both sides of an issue: people who are great at dating and unsuccessful at dating...learn from the person who's great and also learn what not to do! We'll do the same with sex and relationships so that you can learn what works so you don't need to repeat others' past mistakes. I'll interview sex coaches and love coaches. We intend this to be a how-to guide. Hit follow and join us!  Want to be a guest on Straight from the Source's Mouth: Frank Talk about Sex and Dating? A Dating Platform Built For Marriage #149

Swiping promised freedom, but a lot of us ended up with the same result: more chats, more dates, and fewer people willing to build something that lasts. That is why we brought on Jeremy Nelson, the founder of MarryingAmerica.com, a new dating platform for marriage-minded singles who are done playing the numbers game and ready to date with real intention. We dig into Jeremy’s “feast and famine” view of modern online dating: a feast of casual options paired with a famine of commitment. Then we get practical. MarryingAmerica.com is web-based by design (no app to live on), and it limits how you behave. From there, the conversation goes deeper: courtship, going slower, and the idea that love is something you do, not something you say. We also explore a surprising (and unsettling) angle: as AI chatbots and AI companions get easier to talk to than real humans, will people start opting out of human relationships entirely? If you want an intentional dating approach that prioritizes long-term relationships and marriage, listen now, share this with a friend who is serious about commitment, and subscribe and leave a review so more people can find the show. The Four Intimacies Framework with Roy and Dr. Amy Clark #148

Sex doesn’t usually fail in the bedroom first, it fails in the hours and days before it, when couples stop asking real questions and start running on assumptions. We sit down with Roy and Dr. Amy Clark, co founders of ARIA Luxury Brands and authors of The Four Intimacies, to map a clear path from “we feel disconnected” to “we know how to find each other again.” We talk through their Four Intimacies framework in plain language: verbal intimacy that opens the door, emotional intimacy that creates safety, physical intimacy that deepens trust and pleasure, and spiritual intimacy that often emerges when the first three are working. Along the way, we get practical about communication skills that actually change relationships, like listening to understand, asking follow up questions, avoiding interruptions, and using “feelings before fixing” when someone is hurting instead of rushing into advice. We also dig into what physical security really means, why many couples need connection long before sex starts, and how shame around sex, including shame rooted in religious messaging, can be unwound with curiosity, honesty, and support. If you want actionable relationship advice, marriage communication tools, and a healthier view of intimacy, you’ll leave with a better blueprint and a lot of hope. Subscribe for more conversations like this, share the episode with a friend who’d appreciate it, and leave a review with your biggest takeaway. Send us Fan Mail Support the show Thanks for listening! Dating Without The Chase #147

I sit down with relationship therapist Thomas Westenholtz to unpack why anxious daters so often get pulled into avoidant relationships that feel intoxicating at first and miserable later. We map the nervous system patterns behind chasing, criticism, and rumination, then lay out what secure love actually looks like in real dating behavior.  • how the anxious-avoidant cycle forms and why it repeats old wounds  • why criticism shows up as a desperate attempt to get through  • using an internal “compass” across thoughts, emotions, and body signals  • recognising persistent anxiety as a signal of inconsistency and confusion  • early dating signs of secure attachment including clarity and follow-through  • why calm can feel boring when you are used to chaos  • trusting actions over words and avoiding fantasy-driven attachment  If you love this episode, be sure to tell your friends about it and rate it as well Send us Fan Mail Support the show Thanks for listening! Toy Chats And Smarter Sex Toy Buys #146

We talk with Cam Jennings from ToyChats about why sex toy shopping still forces people to gamble, and how a dedicated review platform can give consumers real feedback without relying on mainstream social media. We also get practical about safer buying, lube basics, anal play, and what changes as intimacy products go more mainstream.  • why sex toy brands struggle to communicate with consumers on major platforms  • why returns are limited and why warranties matter  • how ToyChats works as a user-generated sex toy review site  • how reviewers get paid for approved written and video reviews  • what makes certain manufacturers stand out on quality and support  • how men’s toys and tech features have evolved over time  • what’s real and what’s hype in sex dolls, robots, and AI  • why buying intimacy items at big-box stores feels different than an adult boutique  • lube safety basics, reputable brands, and why water-based is a smart default  • anal play guidance, prostate targeting, and beginner safety rules  I really hope that everybody engages with us on Toy Chats, even if you're not looking to be a reviewer.  If you love this episode, be sure to tell your friends about it and rate it as well.  Send us Fan Mail Support the show Thanks for listening! Food Can Support Desire And Performance When You Know What To Choose #145

The phrase “aphrodisiac foods” can sound like a myth, a gimmick, or a menu cliché, so we wanted to get specific about what actually holds up and what doesn’t. I’m joined by Amy Reily, an award-winning cookbook author and the authority behind Eat Something Sexy, to break down how food, desire, and sexual performance connect through real nutrition, food history, and the psychology of anticipation. We talk about why the FDA standard for proving libido claims is so strict, and why that doesn’t mean the whole idea is nonsense. Amy explains a more useful framework: many foods associated with libido support are the same foods that support heart health, energy, and blood flow, which are key for sexual wellness. From oysters (hello zinc and lean protein) to cacao and dark chocolate (antioxidants plus a mild stimulant effect), we dig into what might be happening in the body and why “sexy” sometimes starts with feeling good physically. Then we get practical with romantic dinner ideas you can actually use.  We also cover playful connection builders like sharing an artichoke with garlic butter, when garlic is more friend than foe if you both eat it, and a beautiful non-alcohol drink idea like a pomegranate spritzer. We wrap with the most important romance tip of all: plan for your partner’s tastes, not a fantasy menu you saw online. If you want more confidence, more energy, and a better shot at intimacy at the end of a long day, this one will give you a clear starting point. How To Avoid Being Creepy Without Becoming Her Buddy #144

We talk with dating mentor Shelly Badayos about why most modern dating advice fails once you want something real, and how confidence starts with changing the patterns you bring into relationships. We dig into attachment styles, safety, respect, and the small cues that help you move forward without rushing or stalling.  • shifting from performance-based dating advice to internal work that lasts  • using attachment style theory to spot repeating patterns and triggers  • somatic work and inner child healing to break people-pleasing cycles  • understanding safety as a core need for many women  • naming respect and being understood as key needs for many men  • finding the right pace to avoid the friend zone or coming on too strong  • reading open body language and engagement before advancing touch  If you love this episode, be sure to tell your friends about it and rate it as well.  Send us Fan Mail Support the show Thanks for listening! Breaking Porn’s Grip #143

Porn can be “occasional” and still run your life. If you’ve ever said “I’ll stop” and then found yourself right back in the same loop, this conversation puts language to what’s happening and gives you a grounded path forward. We’re joined by GT Tan, a mental and sexual wellness coach and executive reboot strategist, to talk about porn addiction recovery in a way that goes beyond shame and willpower. We unpack what addiction really means when frequency varies, why porn is often a symptom of something deeper, and how stress, anxiety, loneliness, and unresolved pain can turn porn into a default coping tool. GT also explains porn-induced erectile dysfunction (PIED), including how ED can show up as partial or inconsistent erections, and why it matters to look at the full picture, from relationship dynamics to bloodwork, hormones, sleep, and diet. From there we get practical: identifying triggers, setting boundaries in a culture where sexual content is everywhere, and building long-term sobriety rather than short-term abstinence. We also touch on dating and intimacy, including why authenticity matters and why rejection can be a major relapse trigger if you don’t have a solid foundation first. If you want a healthier relationship with sex, confidence, and connection, listen through and then subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a quick review so more people can find it. Men’s Emotional Blind Spots #142

The fastest way to stay stuck is to assume your struggle is unique. Tamara sits down with Michael Reed, host of Adaptive Men, to unpack why so many men repeat the same relationship patterns and then blame themselves when it falls apart. We get specific about attachment theory, how childhood conditioning shows up in adult dating, and why “you deserve better” can feel like a replay of every breakup you’ve had. We also go deep on men’s emotional health without drifting into vague advice. Michael explains alexithymia (the trouble many men have naming feelings in real time) and why somatic work can be a practical doorway back into emotional awareness.  From there, we connect the dots to emotional self-regulation so feelings don’t get stuffed, stacked, and leaked out as irritability, shutdown, or a short fuse. From people pleasing and nice guy syndrome to self-worth and self-forgiveness, we keep coming back to the same idea: a lot of “bad habits” are old programming, not a life sentence. We also discuss men’s groups, why community helps men heal, and how porn addiction and sexual insecurity can distort intimacy and communication even in loving relationships. If you want actionable insight on men’s mental health, attachment theory, emotional regulation, and healthier relationships, this one is for you. Subscribe, share it with a friend who needs it, and leave a review so more people can find the show. Send us Fan Mail Support the show Thanks for listening!
