Am I Ready to Be a Husband? 6 Signs Every Man Should Assess | The Road to Husbandhood (Part 2)

Am I Ready to Be a Husband? Marriage is a desire for many men, but the desire for a wife must be accompanied by preparation for the responsibility of being a husband. In this episode, we examine six areas of personal readiness that men should assess before entering marriage. The purpose isn't to create a standard of perfection. It's to help men recognize where they stand, identify areas for growth, and become intentional about their preparation. The assessment: How do you respond when things don't go according to plan? Marriage comes with unexpected challenges, difficult decisions, and seasons of pressure. A man's leadership is revealed in how he responds to those moments. Questions to consider: Can I remain composed when I'm frustrated? Do I make thoughtful decisions under pressure? Do people experience greater stability or greater chaos when I'm stressed? Scripture to consider: James 1:2–4 — Perseverance develops maturity through trials. The assessment: Do you understand your identity, your current season, and your direction? A man preparing for marriage should be able to communicate his values, goals, convictions, and vision. This doesn't mean he must have every detail figured out. It means he is intentional about the direction of his life. Questions to consider: Do I understand who I am and what I stand for? Can I communicate my goals and current challenges honestly? Do I have a direction I'm actively working toward? Scripture to consider: Proverbs 29:18 — Vision and direction matter. Read the verse in context when applying it to personal planning. The assessment: Which one wins more often in your everyday decisions? Marriage will test your ability to practice self-control, resist temptation, and choose what honors God over what offers immediate gratification. Questions to consider: How do I respond to temptation? Do I allow anger, lust, pride, or selfishness to dictate my choices? Am I developing habits that strengthen my walk with God? Scripture to consider: Galatians 5:16–17 — The tension between the flesh and the Spirit. The assessment: Can you acknowledge when you're wrong and take meaningful steps to change? A husband must be willing to accept correction, own his decisions, and address the consequences of his actions rather than blame others. Questions to consider: Can I apologize without making excuses? Do I follow through on the changes I promise? Am I open to wise counsel and correction? Scripture to consider: Proverbs 28:13 — Confession and turning away from wrongdoing are connected to receiving mercy. The assessment: Can you consider another person's needs without treating it as a loss of freedom? Marriage requires intentional love, mutual consideration, service, and a willingness to put the good of the relationship ahead of selfish impulses. Questions to consider: Do I consider how my decisions affect others? Am I willing to compromise without abandoning my convictions? Do I serve others only when it's convenient? Scripture to consider: Philippians 2:3–4 — Look beyond your own interests and consider the interests of others. The assessment: Can people depend on your word and your character? Questions to consider: Do I do what I say I'm going to do? Am I consistent when nobody is watching? Do I remain committed when something becomes difficult or inconvenient? Scripture to consider: Luke 16:10 — Faithfulness in little things matters. After assessing these six areas, identify: My strengths: Where am I already demonstrating readiness? My growth areas: Where am I falling short? My next steps: What specific habits, decisions, or actions must change? My accountability: Who can help me remain honest and consistent? My progress: How will I know I'm growing? Don't measure your readiness only by your desire for a wife. Measure your preparation by the character and responsibility you're developing.

In this episode of Let's Talk Like Men, we explore what it means to become a man who can do hard things well. Life will bring challenges, temptation, disappointment, pressure, and unexpected battles. The question isn't whether difficult things will happen. The question is whether we've developed the mental, physical, spiritual, and relational strength to face them. We discuss the importance of continually developing yourself through books, mentorship, seminars, brotherhood, and challenging environments. We also explore discipline of the body, fasting, sexual self-control, healthy habits, and the importance of removing things that weaken your ability to govern yourself. Signs of a Mature Man | 10 Ways You Know a Man Has Truly Grown

Age doesn't make a man mature. Growth does. In this episode, we break down the telltale signs that a man has truly grown into a new level of maturity. Maturity eventually produces fruit. It shows up in how a man thinks, how he manages his emotions, how he handles money, how he responds to correction, how he manages his relationships, how he uses his independence, and how he leads himself and others. We explore the principle that maturity brings multiplication and duplication, while immaturity brings subtraction and division. We also discuss why mature men see boundaries as protection instead of control, why independence isn't the same thing as maturity, and why a mature man shouldn't need to constantly be reminded of his responsibilities.
