Premier League match day 26 review!

Send us your questions and thoughts by text!! Leave your name in the text! Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Football Podcast episode 193! In this week’s Premier League review, we break down a dramatic round of midweek fixtures featuring key results in the Champions League race, mounting pressure in North London, and frustration at both ends of the table. We begin with a topsy-turvey game at Selhurst Park as Palace’s bonkers season appears to have no end in sight (02:00), before looking at Man City’s important win against Fulham (03:00), who continue to take a doing from the Citizens. It is then onto Sunderland versus Liverpool (05:00), where Virgil van Dijk’s header from Mohamed Salah’s corner secured a crucial three points. The result strengthened Liverpool’s push for a top-four finish, in a match that made Premier League history as just the fourth to feature no English players in either starting XI. At Villa Park (08:00), Aston Villa left it late to beat Brighton thanks to Tyrone Mings’ decisive header, extending Brighton’s winless league run to 13 matches and boosting Villa’s European hopes. Newcastle United claimed a close win away at Tottenham Hotspur (13:30), deepening Spurs’ struggles. The defeat leaves Tottenham winless in eight league games and signals a turbulent period following Thomas Frank’s departure. We also cover the relegation battle (29:00), where Nottingham Forest registered 35 shots in a goalless draw with Wolves that cost Sean Dyche his job, and Manchester United produced their lowest expected goals total of the season in a draw at West Ham (35:00). To round off the show, we discuss what Chelsea’s stalemate with Leeds says about their defensive issues, despite generating 3.7 xG, and Bournemouth’s growing momentum after coming from behind to beat Everton. Before the bin juice finale with the late game on Thursday against Brentford and Arsenal. All reviews, likes, shares and of course listens are hugely appreciated! Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Football Podcast episode 191!  We begin in Scotland with Airdrieonians’ 2–0 win at Dunfermline Athletic and Kilmarnock’s dominant victory over Aberdeen, before moving into Moment of the Week (07:55). From Brentford’s rare away win at Aston Villa as well as Sunderland’s goalless draw with Burnley on Monday Night Football. Our first Premier League marquee matchup comes from Old Trafford as Manchester United beat Fulham 3-2. We assess Michael Carrick’s early impact in charge, United’s strange relationship with possession and their seven-game unbeaten run. As well as Kevin’s! superb strike (10:35). Next, Liverpool get back to their best with a 4-1 win over Newcastle United at Anfield, as Mohamed Salah makes more Premier League history (21:00). We then head to Stamford Bridge for a dramatic London derby where Chelsea defeat West Ham United 3-2, the first time in club history Chelsea have won a Premier League match after trailing by two goals at half-time (30:50). There is the Managerial merry-go-round (38:40) as we look at Palace’s great demise and Frank holding on for dear life at Spurs. In One Thing We Learned (48:00), we look at Arsenal’s emphatic 4–0 win over Leeds United and Bournemouth’s strong form since the departure of Antoine Semenyo. Finally, we crown the Bin Juice Game of the Week (51:15): Brighton & Hove Albion 1–1 Everton – and a wonderful David Moyes moment we can get behind. Premier League match day 23 review!

Send us your questions and thoughts by text!! Leave your name in the text! A packed weekend of football gives Dylan, Jamie and Mike plenty to get stuck into, starting north of the border as Dunfermline shock St Johnstone and Aberdeen put six past Livingston. It’s then onto the Moment of the Week (02:50), with Nottingham Forest becoming only the second side to win at Brentford and Aston Villa ending a 20+ year wait for a victory at St James’ Park. The main event comes from the Emirates, where Manchester United stun league leaders Arsenal with a dramatic late comeback in one of the games of the season (06:30). Chelsea’s away victory at Selhurst Park is next, as Palace’s struggles deepen and the Blues push back into the top four (27:00), before attention turns to the South Coast where Bournemouth deliver a stoppage-time gut punch to Liverpool (40:20). Before wrapping up with One Thing We Learned (49:40) at the London Stadium, Craven Cottage and the Etihad. And to close the show, we reluctantly wade through the Bin Juice Game of the Week as Everton host Leeds on Monday night (55:20). Premier League match day 22 review!

Send us your questions and thoughts by text!! Leave your name in the text! Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Football Podcast episode 189!  From shock results in Scotland to statement wins in the Premier League, it’s another packed episode as we break down a weekend full of talking points. We start with Dunfermline edging Hibs and Aberdeen continuing their grind against Raith before diving into our Moment of the Week, featuring stoppage-time drama at Elland Road and Arsenal inching closer to the title with back-to-back goalless draws. Our first marquee matchup takes us to Villa Park, where Everton end Aston Villa’s formidable home run with a deserved 1-0 win, before we head to Old Trafford for a fascinating Manchester derby. United’s 2-0 victory over City sparks debate around tactics, refereeing controversy, and the remarkable start to life under Michael Carrick. There’s also time for the pre-emptive Managerial Merry-Go-Round, with Crystal Palace’s summer missteps laid bare and more pressure mounting at Spurs after another home defeat. We round things off with One Thing We Learned from Stamford Bridge and Anfield, digging into Chelsea’s new era and Liverpool’s oddly unconvincing unbeaten run, before crowning Wolves vs Newcastle as the Bin Juice Game of the Week. Premier League match day 18 review!

Send us your questions and thoughts by text!! Leave your name in the text! Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Football Podcast episode 187!  It’s a packed festive edition as the panel works through a busy weekend of football across Scotland and England. We begin north of the border with derby drama as Dunfermline leave Stark’s Park with a 2-1 win over Raith Rovers, before Dundee United and Aberdeen share the points at Tannadice.  From there, we segue into Moment of the Week, where we get on board again with the Dominic Calvert-Lewin runaway train (05:10), and David Raya making a stunning save to keep Arsenal in front against Brighton (07:15). Our first Premier League marquee matchup takes us to Selhurst Park, where a depleted Crystal Palace host Tottenham (09:30) and get emptied. We stay in London for late-Saturday drama at Stamford Bridge. Aston Villa come from behind to beat Chelsea 2–1, with Ollie Watkins once again haunting the Blues and Unai Emery’s side matching a club-record winning run (18:50). It’s then a capital hat-trick as we head to Brentford, where Kevin Schade’s treble fires the Bees to a dominant 4–1 win over Bournemouth and into the top half of the table (31:40). We round things off with Two Things We Learned, Florian Wirtz finally opening his Premier League account for Liverpool (41:30), West Ham’s growing relegation fears (42:35), Manchester City’s latest creative force (49:35), and Ruben Amorim’s puzzling tactical shift at Old Trafford (50:30). Finally, reluctantly, we acknowledge the Bin Juice Game of the Week – a truly grim goalless draw between Burnley and Everton (52:25), so much so that David Moyes didn't even attempt to sugar coat it. All reviews, likes, shares and of course listens are hugely appreciated! Why not leave a review right now, it only takes a second! Premier League match day 17 review!

Send us your questions and thoughts by text!! Leave your name in the text! Hello and welcome to the Late Kick-Off Football Podcast episode 186!  Jamie and Mike dive headfirst into a packed weekend of football, with the Premier League firmly centre stage. We begin by reflecting on our clubs’ misfortunes, from Dunfermline Athletic’s narrow defeat to Ayr United to Aberdeen’s bruising encounters with Sparta Prague and Celtic (02:00)  From there, we move into our Moments of the Week, including Fulham’s Monday night win over Nottingham Forest (06:20) and Arsenal’s gritty victory at Everton as Mikel Arteta marked six years in charge amid lingering concerns about cutting edge and consistency (07:30). The bulk of the show focuses on three Premier League marquee matchups. Aston Villa’s historic run continues with a statement win over Manchester United, prompting debate over results versus performance, Unai Emery’s tactical edge, and Ruben Amorim’s ongoing struggles (08:55). Leeds dismantled Crystal Palace with ruthless efficiency from set pieces, while the emergence of a 16-year-old academy debutant offers a silver lining for the Eagles (17:50). In north London, Liverpool edged a chaotic contest against Spurs, though the potential long-term injury to Alexander Isak casts a shadow over their momentum (26:00). We then round off the analysis with Two Things We Learned, covering Wolves’ alarming slide toward relegation (36:40), Manchester City’s relentless standards under Pep Guardiola (38:45), Bournemouth’s frustrating mid-table stagnation (42:55), and Newcastle’s inability to protect leads after yet another collapse from a winning position (45:10). Finally, there’s only one candidate for Bin Juice Game of the Week (49:40), as Brighton and Sunderland serve up a dour goalless draw at the Amex. We assess the Seagull’s attacking malaise, Sunderland’s growing resilience away from home, and whether a teenage Greek prospect could provide a spark against Arsenal next time out.
