    Dua Lipa on Repeat

    In this month's Read, Watch and Listen episode our reading recs are a little bit on the dark side, Jade shares Strange Beasts of China by Yan Ge, David reads a collection of short horror stories originally published in 1895, The King of Yellow by Robert Chambers and Sarah listens to Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. Jade excitedly shares her love for the podcast turned Netflix show Archive 81, Sarah discusses The Drop Out on Hulu and David scares the girls by talking about the Chuckie tv show. To end the podcast on a lighter note we talk about French pop music, The Linda Lindas, The Regrettes, Maggie Lindeman and Dua LIpa.

    In today's episode we dish on 10 Things I Hate About You. This week we deep dive into the classic teen rom-com retelling of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and get nostalgic over cast members, Sarah and Jade love Joseph Gordon Levitt and David has the hots for Larisa Oleynik. We share our favorite scenes, characters, one-liners and will never not laugh at Bogie's infamous line, "That must be Nigel with the brie!" We talk about 90s teen movie soundtracks, the Riot Grrrl movement, what Andrew Keegan's been up to and why we wish we had live bands at our high school proms.

    Out Cold

    Remember the teen comedy, Out Cold? David's teen choice this week is the 2001 snowboarding flick starring Jason London, the late Willie Garson and Zack Galifianakis. A parody of Casablanca, this teen movie has an eight percent on Rotten Tomatoes, a killer soundtrack and castmates that include Lee Daniels, David Koechner, Thomas Lennon and Victoria Silverstedt. In the likes of movies from the early 2000s, it's humor is reminiscent of American Pie and EuroTrip but doesn't quite hold up. Join us as we discuss Zack Galifianakis black out scenes, why Victoria Silvstedt is in this movie and why we love the soundtrack.

    Scream

    We're dedicating an entire month to 90s and early 2000s teen movies and to kick start April, we're talking about the 1996 teen slasher, Scream. Sarah seems generally confused about the plot of the movie, Billy's motive to kill Sidney and Rose McGowan's death. She has a thing for Matt Lillard and Jamie Kennedy and learns that Scream is the movie that turned David into a slasher nerd. We talk about that iconic opening sequence, a few teen slashers from the 80s including Slumber Party Massacre/Return to Horror High and why David prefers Scream Queen, Jamie Lee Curtis to Neve Campbell!

Let's face it, people who go into public libraries, they're overwhelmed, they need to print something, they are in a hurry, they're not sure what they are looking for or maybe even a little embarrassed because they haven't been a library since their first grade class field trip, fifteen years ago. We break down school libraries versus public library organization, find creative ways with book displays to help you find books you can't remember the author/title, library browsing and bookstore browsing, that we don't keep track of your book history and holds (ILL's, requests and the life of a hold).
