"The Gospel According to JOSEPH" // Week 8 \\ Lance Lewis - [VIDEO]

This Sunday, Pastor Lance Lewis will be continuing the series, "The Gospel According to Joseph," looking at Genesis 45.  Sermon Questions November 1, 2026 1. Read Genesis 45:1–4. Joseph sends the Egyptians out of the room before he reveals himself, and he says “come near” before he says “whom you sold.” Why do you think the order matters? When someone has wronged you, what would it look like to protect them from shame while still being honest about what happened? 2. Read Genesis 45:5–8 and 50:20. Joseph says three times that God sent him, but he never says his brothers did nothing wrong. How can both be true at once? Is there a painful part of your own story that you’ve only been able to read from the human side so far? What might change if you saw God at work in it? 3. Joseph tells his brothers, “Do not be distressed or angry with yourselves” (v. 5). Why is it sometimes harder to stop condemning ourselves than to believe God has forgiven us? What does it look like to keep paying a debt Christ has already paid? 4. Compare Genesis 37:4 with 45:15, then read 45:24. The story moves from brothers who “could not speak peacefully to him” to “his brothers talked with him.” Joseph still warns them, “Do not quarrel on the way.” Is there a relationship in your life where the conversation has gone silent? What would a first step look like, even an awkward one? And how can forgiven people keep from relitigating the past on the road home?

"The Gospel According to JOSEPH" // Week 7 \\ Lance Lewis - [VIDEO]

This Sunday, Pastor Lance Lewis will be continuing the series, "The Gospel According to Joseph," looking at Genesis 44.  Sermon Questions:  1. The test rebuilt (vv. 1–13) Joseph plants the cup only in Benjamin’s sack, and the steward tells the brothers the rest of them can go free (v. 10). How does this recreate what happened at the cistern in chapter 37? What does it tell you about the brothers that “every man loaded his donkey” and went back (v. 13)? Has God ever put you back in a situation where you failed before? What did you do the Second time? 2. Confessing to the wrong crime (vv. 14–16) The brothers didn’t steal the cup, yet Judah says, “God has found out the guilt of your servants.” Which guilt is he really confessing? Read 42:21–22 and Psalm 32:3–5 alongside it. Why might being “found out” by God be a mercy and not only a judgment? What is the difference between remorse and repentance (2 Cor. 7:10)? Where do you see each one in the brothers’ story? 3. Judah’s transformation (vv. 18–34; cf. 37:26–27; 38:26; 43:9) Trace Judah from “Come, let us sell him” to “Let your servant remain instead of the boy.” What happened along the way? Notice that Judah repeats his father’s favoritism (“my wife bore me two sons,” v. 27) without bitterness. What does that show about how God changed him? What wounds from your own family are you tempted to pass on? What would it look like to absorb them instead? 4. The greater Judah (49:8–10; Rev. 5:5–6; Heb. 7:22; Rom. 5:6–8) Judah offers himself as a substitute for an innocent brother, and the scepter later goes to his tribe. How does that point forward to Jesus, the Lion of Judah, who is also the Lamb? In what ways is Christ’s substitution greater than Judah’s? Who in your life might God be calling you to stand in the gap for right now?
