    God is Always at Work

In this vision-casting message, Pastor Nick uses the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard from Matthew 20 to recast the mission of Calvary Chapel Lake of the Ozarks during an active building campaign. The central argument is that the new building is not the destination or goal of the church -- the gospel is. The building is a tool, a means of making room for people to encounter the love of Christ. Drawing on the image of a landowner who persistently goes out at every hour to invite workers into his vineyard, Pastor Nick reminds the congregation that God is always working and is continually extending an invitation for his people to participate in that work. The church's mission is summarized in three phrases: a home for the broken, encouragement for the hurting, and a family for the follower of Jesus. The sermon calls every member to move from being consumers to contributors, from being transactional to transformational, and to answer God's invitation with the heart of Isaiah -- "Here I am, Lord, send me."

    A Marked Life

What does it look like when a life is truly marked by the gospel? Romans 12 gives us something remarkable: not a deep theological argument to wrestle with, but a rapid-fire series of directives that paint a vivid picture of transformed living. From letting love be genuine to overcoming evil with good, these instructions cover the full range of how faith shows up in real, everyday moments. The passage challenges us to ask an honest question about each one: is this actually present in my life? Not as a checklist for earning God's love, but as a natural overflow of abiding in Christ. When we understand that these qualities flow from grace rather than toward it, the whole list changes from a burden into an invitation. We are not striving to become something God will finally approve of. We are living out of an identity already secured by the gospel.

    Two Are Better Than One

What does it look like to truly live, rather than simply accumulate? Ecclesiastes 4 pulls no punches when it comes to the raw realities of life in a broken world. From the tears of the oppressed to the exhausting treadmill of competition and comparison, Solomon refuses to sugarcoat what we already know deep down: life can feel profoundly empty when we are living against God's design. The central warning here is striking and deeply personal. So much of our striving, our working, our competing, flows not from genuine purpose but from envy. We are not merely chasing something good; we are chasing what someone else has. And yet the antidote is not to work less or care less, but to reorient entirely. When someone else's success or failure determines whether we can rest in God's provision, we have quietly handed our contentment over to the comparison game. The passage calls us back to something more grounding: faithfulness. Not fame, not influence, not the approval of crowds, but simple, steady faithfulness to what God has placed right in front of us. This is where kingdom greatness is actually measured, and it is a standard that frees us from the exhausting race we were never meant to run.

    There's Room for You

What does it mean to truly be invited somewhere? Not just handed a card or sent a text, but genuinely welcomed, expected, and wanted? In Luke 14, Jesus tells the story of a great banquet, and the picture he paints cuts straight to the heart of what the gospel actually is. It is not a system of self-improvement. It is not a reward for the righteous. It is an invitation, extended to the broken, the lost, the poor, the wandering, and the ones nobody else expected to show up. The central tension of this parable is striking: those who were first invited made excuses, and so the master sent his servants out again and again, further and further, compelling people from the streets and the highways and the hedges to come in. That relentless, outward-moving heart of the master is the heart of God toward us. Romans 5:8 reminds us that God demonstrated his love not when we had things together, but while we were still sinners. That is the scandalous beauty of grace. We did not earn our seat at the table. We were compelled to come. And understanding that changes everything about how we see ourselves, how we see others, and how we carry the invitation forward to people who still believe there is no room for them.

    You're Not In Control

What if the seasons of life we resist most are actually the ones where God is doing his deepest work? Ecclesiastes 3 opens with a truth that is both unsettling and deeply freeing: there is a time for everything under heaven. Not just the good things, but the hard things too. The losses, the waiting, the grief, the uncertainty. We spend so much energy trying to control our circumstances, trying to manufacture the season we want, that we miss the invitation to be faithful in the season we are actually in. This message walks us through one of the most quoted passages in all of Scripture and unpacks what it really means to trust a God who holds the whole story together when we can only see one chapter. The key tension here is not whether God is working, but whether we are willing to receive what he is doing without demanding an explanation first. Faith, it turns out, is not about having all the answers. It is about trusting the one who does.

    Worth and Function

What if the very thing holding the body of Christ back is not a lack of resources or opportunity, but a misunderstanding of how God has uniquely wired each one of us? Romans 12 pulls back the curtain on one of the most practical and personal truths in all of Scripture: that every believer has been given a spiritual gift, and that gift is not meant to sit on a shelf. It is meant to be poured out in service to others. We explore the tension between pride and false humility, two sides of the same coin that can keep us from walking faithfully in what God has assigned to us. The body of Christ is not meant to function with some parts thriving while others remain dormant, taking in nourishment but never contributing. When we begin to see our gifts not as trophies of personal achievement but as tools of grace extended to others, everything changes. This message challenges us to stop waiting until we have perfectly identified our gifting and instead start serving, trusting that faithfulness in motion is often how God reveals what he has placed within us.

    When Everything Isn't Enough

What would it take to finally feel satisfied? Solomon, the wisest and wealthiest king who ever lived, decided to find out. In Ecclesiastes chapter two, he runs the ultimate experiment on himself, throwing himself headlong into pleasure, achievement, wisdom, and work, holding nothing back. The result? Everything he touched, tasted, and built left him empty. This message walks us through that experiment and asks us a pointed question we might not want to answer honestly: do we actually believe him? Because most of us look at that list of possessions, experiences, and accomplishments and quietly think, maybe it just did not work for Solomon, but it would work for me. The central spiritual lesson here is both sobering and freeing. There is nothing in this finite world that can bear the weight of being our ultimate purpose. Not a career, not a relationship, not success, not even wisdom itself. When we try to squeeze that kind of meaning out of temporary things, we are not just disappointed, we are making idols out of gifts. The deeper invitation is to receive life differently, with open hands and a grateful heart, enjoying God's good gifts without demanding that they do God's job. That shift from grasping to receiving changes everything about how we experience our days.

    Our Response

What does it actually mean to live as a living sacrifice? Romans 12 opens with one of the most challenging and beautiful appeals in all of Scripture, and it starts not with a command but with a motivation: the mercy of God. We all know the language of grace and mercy, but this message pushes us to truly feel the weight of those words. Mercy is not getting what we actually deserve, and what we deserve is sobering. When that reality sinks in, the call to present our bodies as living sacrifices stops feeling like a burden and starts feeling like the only reasonable response. The problem with a living sacrifice, of course, is that it keeps crawling off the altar. Every single day we face the choice to climb back up, deny ourselves, and surrender control. This is not radical Christianity. This is simply biblical Christianity, and understanding the difference changes everything about how we approach our faith.
