Change Starts With Me! | As For Me and My House Teaching Series | Episode 2

AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE — EPISODE 2 Change Starts With Me! “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15 Transformation in your household has to start somewhere. Why not with you? In Episode 2 of As For Me and My House, Steve Pixler focuses on the first words of Joshua's declaration: “As for me…” Before Joshua could declare what his household would become, he had already established a lifetime of personally choosing the presence, promises, and purposes of God. Joshua stayed in God's presence when others went home. He stood with Caleb when an entire generation surrendered to fear and unbelief. When others turned away, Joshua continued to make the same decision: As for me. We cannot demand from our families what we are unwilling to embody ourselves. Household transformation doesn't begin by imposing religious rules on a spouse or children. It begins when one person allows Jesus to transform his or her own heart and becomes a living example of humility, forgiveness, worship, prayer, faith, love, and obedience. Someone has to embody the change. In this message, Steve shares the story of his father's life-changing encounter with God as a young man. One decision changed the trajectory of his family and ultimately produced generations of ministry. He also tells the remarkable story of his great-grandfather, a violent and racist man whose encounter with Jesus in 1932 radically transformed him. His hatred was replaced by love, and much of his subsequent ministry was spent preaching in Black churches throughout Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. One transformed life produced consequences that continued through generations. You may not be able to make the decision for everyone in your household. But you can say: “Lord, start with me.” One decision can produce a cascade of decisions. One transformed life can influence generations. And one person willing to say “As for me” can become the beginning of a completely different future for a household. As For Me and My House: Take the Presence of God Home | Episode 1

AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE — EPISODE 1 Take the Presence of God Home “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15 There is a battle being fought for families, households, communities, and nations. But where does that battle begin? At home. In this first message of the As For Me and My House series, Steve Pixler teaches from Joshua 24 about God's call to establish households devoted to Him. Joshua didn't begin by pointing to someone else. He declared, “As for me…” The restoration of the household begins when we personally decide to serve the Lord—and then bring the presence, Word, worship, fellowship, communion, and prayer of the Church into our homes. The early Church didn't only gather in the temple. They also went from house to house. Acts 2:42 gives us a powerful pattern for building a Kingdom household: • The apostles' teaching — The Word • Fellowship — Koinonia • The breaking of bread — Communion • The prayers — Prayer What would happen if our homes became places where the presence of God continually dwells? What would happen if prayer filled our homes morning and evening? What would happen if our children and grandchildren encountered God not only at church, but around our own tables? What would happen if we stopped thinking of church as the only place where ministry happens—and began seeing it as the training ground that equips us to carry the Kingdom into our homes? The restoration of the Kingdom household is one of the front lines of Kingdom advance in the world. In this series, we're putting this into practice. We're making a declaration: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Join us as we pursue the restoration of the Kingdom household and believe God for revival that moves from the church house to our house—and from one generation to the next. See the Victory Before You See the Victory | Get In the Game Teaching Series Ep. 10

What if the future you're afraid of is a future you've imagined without God in it? Throughout the Get In the Game Teaching Series, we've challenged a passive view of Christianity—the idea that the will of God simply happens while we stand on the sidelines and watch. In this final episode, Steve Pixler brings the entire series together with a simple declaration: The will of God doesn't just happen to us. It happens with us, for us, and through us. You have a role to play. So play it. Prayer isn't merely informing God about our plans and asking Him to bless them. Prayer brings divine and human action together. It invites the supernatural power of heaven into the circumstances of earth. And prayer doesn't replace action. Prayer empowers action. God is looking for relentless people who refuse to sit passively by while darkness advances. The circumstances you're facing right now may actually be preparing you for greater responsibility. The struggle may be stretching your capacity to carry greater glory. So how do we get in the game? We begin with three things: Praise. Prayer. Prophecy. Praise exalts God over the situation. Prayer brings heaven and earth into partnership. Prophecy hears what God is saying and speaks His promises into the world. But eventually, faith has to move. Moses lifted his rod—and the sea divided. David swung his sling—and God guided the stone. Peter stepped out of the boat—and walked on water. The servants filled the pots—and Jesus turned water into wine. The people rolled away the stone—and Lazarus came out. Again and again throughout Scripture, God moved when people moved. Miracles begin with movement. And then comes perseverance. Jesus taught His disciples to pray continually and not lose heart. Faith isn't merely believing strongly enough to make something happen immediately. Sometimes faith is the supernatural ability to keep praying, keep believing, keep speaking, and keep moving when nothing appears to be changing. Because miracles often happen slowly. And finally, faith changes the way we imagine the future. Worry is imagination pointed toward hopelessness. When we imagine the future and see only ourselves—our inadequacy, our weakness, our lack, our failures—fear takes over. But everything changes when we ask: Where is Jesus in the future I'm imagining? Put Him back into the picture. See Him working. See Him providing. See Him healing. See Him reconciling. See Him guiding. See Him overcoming. Before you see the victory in your circumstances, learn to see the victory in your Spirit-filled imagination. Don't imagine a future without God. Don't imagine a future without miracles. Don't imagine a future in which the status quo gets the final word. And don't imagine yourself sitting helplessly in the stands. No more whatever. No more que sera, sera. You have a role to play. It's time to Get In the Game. IN THIS EPISODE • Why we must reject a passive understanding of God's will • Why prayer is an invitation for divine intervention • How prayer brings divine and human action together • Why God is looking for relentless people • How present struggles can prepare us for greater Kingdom responsibility • The three foundational practices of praise, prayer, and prophecy • What it means to wage war with God's promises • Why our words matter in spiritual warfare • What Jesus meant when He told us to speak to the mountain • Why miracles begin with movement • How God works when His people move • Why partnership with God isn't magic • Why some miracles unfold slowly • What Jesus taught about persistent prayer • Why biblical faith refuses to lose heart • How worry becomes imagination directed toward hopelessness • Why we must put Jesus back into our imagined future • How Spirit-filled imagination helps us envision God's promised outcome • Why we must see the victory before we see the victory • The final challenge: stop sitting in the stands and Get In the Game SCRIPTURES Isaiah 9:7 Psalm 22:3 Matthew 6:10 Daniel 10:12 Mark 11:22–24 Romans 10:8–11 1 Corinthians 14:3 1 Timothy 1:18–19 Exodus 14:15–16 Luke 18:1–8 LEARN MORE About Steve Pixler stevepixler.com About Freedom Life Church myfreedomlife.com PARTNER WITH STEVE PIXLER & CONTINUUM MINISTRIES When you partner with Steve Pixler and Continuum Ministries through faithful giving, you help us produce biblical teaching, podcasts, books, videos, and other ministry resources that equip believers to participate in God's Kingdom. You Are Not Helpless | God Has Called You to Change the World | Get In the Game Series Ep 9

What if the greatest obstacle keeping Christians from changing the world isn't the power of evil—but our fear that we don't have what it takes? Too many believers have learned to interpret defeat as the will of God, postpone Christ's victory until the Second Coming, and retreat from problems that seem too large to solve. But the resurrection tells a different story. Jesus didn't simply call us to die with Him. He called us to rise with Him, ascend with Him, and reign with Him. In Episode 9 of the Get In the Game Teaching Series, Steve Pixler brings together the major themes of the series and explores the breathtaking scope of God's plan for His people and His creation. God's solution is still people and process. The Church is not waiting helplessly for Jesus to return and fix everything. Through the Holy Spirit, Christ is already working in His people to bring His Kingdom into every sphere of life. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why we shouldn't automatically interpret bad outcomes as God's will • Why biblical suffering always points toward redemption and glory • Why Christianity is defined by the resurrection, not merely the cross • What it means to be raised and seated with Christ • Why some Christians retreat from the responsibility of reigning with Christ • How fear can disguise itself as humility and theology • Why the Church is the threshold of the Kingdom • How God's Kingdom is designed to influence every sphere of human life • Why Jesus' resurrection launched God's new creation into the present world • What Paul means when he says, “If anyone is in Christ—new creation” • How regenerated people become agents of reconciliation • The relationship between the Great Commission and God's purpose for the nations • Why we often shrink the mission to fit the size of our faith • Why Jesus only commands what He will give us grace to accomplish • How to confront the problems that seem hopeless in your own life • Why disappointment can paralyze faith and keep us on the sidelines • How to renounce hopelessness and recover overcoming faith The problems are real. Evil is real. Suffering is real. But you are not helpless. God has placed His Spirit within His people and entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation. Changed people change the world. So ask yourself: What is wrong with the world that you cannot stop thinking about? And then make it personal: What is wrong in your world right now? What frightens you? What keeps you awake at night? Where have you become disappointed? Where have you stopped believing anything can change? Name it. Face it. And then draw upon the faith of Jesus Christ within you and do something. Pray. Serve. Give. Create. Lead. Learn. Build. Intercede. Worship. Help somebody. Solve a problem. But don't remain on the sidelines. You are not a victim. You are not helpless. There are remedies hidden in Christ for the situations you face. God so loved the world that He gave His Son—and He has placed the life of His Son within His people. It's time to get in the game. Why Are Some Prayers Delayed? | The Spiritual Battle Behind Daniel 10 | Get In the Game Teaching Series Ep. 8

Jesus said we should pray and not give up. But what happens when we pray—and nothing seems to happen? Daniel 10 gives us a remarkable glimpse behind the scenes. Daniel prayed for 21 days without receiving an answer. What he couldn't see was that his prayer had been heard from the very first day. An angel had been sent with the answer, but spiritual resistance delayed its arrival. In this episode of the Get In the Game Teaching Series, Steve Pixler explores Daniel 10 and what it reveals about prayer, angels, spiritual warfare, perseverance, and delayed answers. The delay wasn't caused by God's reluctance. Daniel's prayer had been heard. The answer had been sent. But there was a battle taking place that Daniel couldn't see. And that raises an important question for us: What if Daniel had stopped praying? Daniel 10 brings together virtually every element we've explored throughout this series. God is working. Angels are working. Spiritual powers are resisting. And at the center of the story stands a human being whose prayers actually matter. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why Daniel 10 remains relevant to spiritual warfare under the New Covenant • How Daniel connects with the imagery and theology of Revelation • Why Christ's victory at the cross doesn't mean spiritual conflict has ceased • How the Kingdom advances between Christ's first and second advents • Why Daniel prayed and fasted for 21 days without receiving an immediate answer • What the "Prince of Persia" reveals about spiritual powers • Why Michael came to assist in the battle • Why delayed answers don't necessarily indicate God's reluctance • What might have happened if Daniel had stopped praying • Why perseverance is essential in spiritual warfare • How human prayer participates in what God is doing • The relationship between prayer and angelic ministry • Why our words matter • How praise, prayer, and prophecy help us "get in the game" The angel told Daniel: "From the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard." From day one. God wasn't ignoring Daniel. God wasn't withholding the answer. Something was happening in the unseen realm that Daniel knew nothing about. That's important to remember when you're praying and nothing seems to be changing. You don't know what's happening beyond what you can see. The battle is real. Resistance is real. But your prayers matter. So when the answer is delayed, don't assume nothing is happening. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep declaring God's Word. Keep making war with your words. Don't walk off the field. Get in the game—and stay in the game. What Do Angels Actually Do? | Angels, Prayer & Spiritual Warfare | Get In the Game Teaching Series Ep 7

Angels aren't merely background characters in biblical stories. According to Scripture, they are active participants in God's work in the world—and they have a role in the spiritual battles being fought around us. But what exactly do angels do? In this episode of the Get In the Game teaching series, Steve Pixler explores the biblical ministry of angels and their relationship to prayer, spiritual warfare, creation, human dominion, and the mission of God's people. Scripture describes angels as ministering spirits, messengers, worshipers, and warriors. They ascend and descend between heaven and earth. They carry out God's Word. They minister to God's people. And throughout Scripture, they appear at critical moments when God's purposes are advancing against spiritual resistance. But this raises another important question: What role do we play? If angels respond to God's Word, and God has chosen to speak and work through His people, then prayer may be far more consequential than we realize. In this episode, Steve explores the relationship between human prayer and angelic activity, including two deeply personal experiences in which he encountered angels during one of the most difficult seasons of his life. You'll discover: • Why angels are essential to understanding spiritual warfare • What Hebrews means when it calls angels "ministering spirits" • How angels participate in God's administration of creation • The relationship between angels, prayer, and the Word of God • Why Jesus calming the storm matters for understanding human authority • What Jesus meant when He promised His followers would do "greater works" • How the natural and supernatural can work together • Why biblical salvation includes more than simply going to heaven • How angels assist God's people in their mission • The difference between messenger, worshiping, and warrior angels • Why Christians should neither worship angels nor ignore them • How prayer participates in spiritual warfare • Steve's personal experience of seeing angels ascending and descending during prayer • His vivid dream of an angelic army confronting demonic powers • The words he heard afterward: "I am fighting your battles for you." • Why delayed answers don't necessarily mean that nothing is happening • Why some spiritual battles take time • How to keep praying when you haven't yet seen the breakthrough The biblical picture of spiritual warfare is not one of effortless, predetermined outcomes in every individual battle. Human decisions matter. Demonic resistance is real. Angelic warfare is real. Prayer matters. The ultimate victory belongs to Jesus—but that doesn't mean every battle is won instantly. So don't lose heart. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep declaring God's promises. Keep moving forward. Stay in the game. Because God works in the world as it is—not simply as we wish it were—and He works through people, through process, and through the unseen ministry of angels.  SCRIPTURES Romans 8:21 Mark 4 Genesis 4 Leviticus Psalm 103:20 John 14:12–14 Galatians 4 Hebrews 1–2 Hebrews 1:14 Genesis 28:12 John 1:51 Colossians 2:18 Hebrews 12:22 Acts 10  LEARN MORE About Steve Pixler stevepixler.com About Freedom Life Church myfreedomlife.com PARTNER WITH STEVE PIXLER & CONTINUUM MINISTRIES When you partner with Steve Pixler through faithful giving, you help us produce biblical teaching, podcasts, books, videos, and other ministry resources that equip believers to participate in God's Kingdom. Jesus Already Won—So Why Is There Still a Battle? | Get In the Game Teaching Series | Ep. 6

Jesus defeated the powers of darkness at the cross. So why is there still a battle? The answer reveals something essential about the Kingdom of God: Christ's victory is finished, but that finished victory is still being worked out in the real world through His people. In this episode of the Get In the Game teaching series, Steve Pixler explores the relationship between the cross, the ascension of Jesus, the Great Commission, the present reign of Christ, and the ultimate defeat of every enemy of God's Kingdom. Jesus declared that all authority in heaven and earth had been given to Him. But rather than immediately ending history, He commissioned His followers to go into the world and disciple the nations. Why? Because the victory Jesus won must now be actualized in human lives, cultures, and nations. As people transfer their allegiance from darkness to Christ, the powers lose their influence. People change. Cultures change. Cities change. Nations change. And the Kingdom of God advances—not through coercion or domination, but through truth, love, the gospel, and the transforming presence of the Holy Spirit. In this episode you'll discover: • Why Jesus' finished victory is still being worked out in history • What it means to disciple the nations • Why Christ's Kingdom advances through influence rather than domination • How the Great Commission participates in Christ's victory over the powers • Why time is an essential part of God's process • What Paul means when he says Christ must reign until every enemy is under His feet • Why death is identified as the last enemy • What that sequence means for the Second Coming • Why Jesus remains at the Father's right hand • How the ascension multiplied the presence of Jesus throughout the earth • Why Jesus said His followers would do greater works after He went to the Father • How conversion dethrones the spiritual powers behind human systems • Why the Kingdom advances through love rather than political or military conquest • What it means for Jesus to rule now, not merely in the age to come • How the church participates in filling all things with the glory of God The Second Coming is real. But Scripture does not ask us to postpone the victory of Jesus until He returns. Jesus reigns now. His Kingdom is advancing now. And through His Spirit-filled people, His victory is being worked out in the real world right now. That's why we cannot leave the field. We have to get in the game. Who Are the Principalities and Powers? The Real Battle Behind the World You See | Get In the Game Teaching Series | Ep. 5

There is a spiritual battle taking place in our world—but people are not the enemy. Scripture describes a world in which human beings can become captive to lies, sin, fear, and spiritual powers they may not even recognize. Yet Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, liberate humanity, and recover the dominion that was lost. In this episode of the Get In the Game teaching series, Steve Pixler explores the biblical reality of spiritual warfare and what the New Testament calls rulers, authorities, cosmic powers, and spiritual forces of evil. Spiritual warfare can be exaggerated and even sensationalized. But denying its reality leaves us unable to understand the arena in which God's Kingdom is advancing. As Paul reminds us: We do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Our battle is not with people. This episode goes beyond the individual experience of spiritual warfare to examine how spiritual powers can influence human relationships, cultures, institutions, and systems. Steve introduces the biblical concept of the stoicheia—the elemental powers or spirit-systems through which fallen powers seek to exploit human lust, greed, pride, and self-interest. But the message does not end with the powers of darkness. Jesus has already defeated them. Through His death, resurrection, and ascension, Christ disarmed the rulers and authorities, recovered human dominion, and now reigns above every rule, authority, power, and dominion. And He has commissioned His church to participate in that victory. In this teaching you'll discover: • Why spiritual warfare is real without making everything about demons • How Satan uses lies, fear, and sin to enslave human beings • Why repentance and truth are weapons of liberation • What Paul means when he says our struggle is not against flesh and blood • Who the biblical "principalities and powers" are • How the powers seek influence through human systems and institutions • What Paul means by the Greek term stoicheia • Why people—not political, religious, or cultural opponents—must never become our enemy • How Jesus disarmed the powers through the cross and resurrection • What the "keys of the Kingdom" mean for the church today • Why Christ's victory is a victory in which His people are called to participate God works in the world as it is, not as we wish it was. There is real resistance. There is a real battle. But there is also a victorious King—and His church has been called to get in the game.  SCRIPTURES 2 Timothy 2:25–26 Hebrews 2:14–15 1 John 3:8 Romans 6:13 1 Thessalonians 2:18 Mark 3:27 Luke 10:18–20 Ephesians 6:10–20 Deuteronomy 32:8–9 Colossians 2:8, 15 Matthew 18:20 1 Corinthians 5:3–4 2 Kings 5:26 Ephesians 1:20–21 1 Peter 3:22 Revelation 1:17–18 Matthew 16:18–19  LEARN MORE About Steve Pixler stevepixler.com About Freedom Life Church myfreedomlife.com PARTNER WITH STEVE PIXLER & CONTINUUM MINISTRIES When you partner with Steve through faithful giving, you help us produce biblical teaching, podcasts, books, videos, and other ministry resources that equip believers to participate in God's Kingdom.
