  1. Grief Isn’t a Detour Back to “Normal” with Dr. Stacy Jensen

Grief Isn’t a Detour Back to “Normal” with Dr. Stacy Jensen

Grief isn’t a detour back to “normal.” It’s a turning toward something new—often unwanted, always hard, yet held by God. We sit down with Dr. Stacy Jensen to trace a deeply human story of loss, love, and quiet strength after her husband Nick’s death from melanoma in 2019. From family devotions in Romans 8 to the gift of a full funeral just months before COVID shutdowns, Stacy shows how mercy threads through even the darkest days. Together we unpack why the five stages of grief don’t match lived experience and how Psalm 13 maps a more honest path—from “How long?” to “I will sing.” Stacy shares how each child grieved differently, what it took to parent amid waves of sorrow, and the surprising ways the body signals danger, like relentless cold before a final goodbye. She names the help that truly helps: curious questions, specific prayers, and one concrete burden lifted. A simple ask—“What necessary thing do you hate doing right now?”—led friends to take over school lunches and gave her back breathing room. For churches, friends, and caregivers, we offer practical ways to care well beyond the funeral—steady presence, scheduled check‑ins months later, rides for kids, and remembering hard anniversaries. For students and young adults who feel invincible, we talk about preparing your heart now with Scripture memory, worship habits, and a circle of people who won’t rush your pain. And for anyone walking through fresh loss, Stacy’s message is clear: do the next right thing, rest in God’s nearness, and trust that nothing can separate you from His love. 2. Outlawed or Unrestricted: What Really Changes

Outlawed or Unrestricted: What Really Changes

What happens when we imagine two impossible worlds—one where abortion is fully outlawed and another where it’s universally celebrated—and then ask what truly changes? We use this stark contrast to cut through the noise and get to the heart of pro-life work: shaping culture, forming consciences, and loving people in concrete, sacrificial ways. We start by testing the “dream world” many advocates long for. History reminds us that illegality never fully ends abortion; it only pushes it underground and often makes it more dangerous. Laws matter, and the law can teach, but law alone can’t heal fear, shame, or selfishness. So we push beyond policy to the roots: sexual ethics, family formation, support for mothers and fathers, and faith communities that accompany families before and after birth. Then we turn to the “nightmare world,” which feels uncomfortably close to our present. As access expands and dissent narrows, demoralization and isolation tempt believers—but the early church shows a better pattern: visible love, clear contrasts, and resilient hope that thrives even when culture disagrees. Throughout, we keep returning to the end game. Winning a vote yet losing our neighbor’s trust is a hollow victory. Real change happens where compassion meets conviction—where churches become known for help, not just headlines; where men are called into responsibility; where the law’s teaching power is paired with patient discipleship; and where the value of life is taught at the level of the heart. Whether laws move toward restriction or celebration, our mission remains: protect the vulnerable, speak truth with grace, and build communities that make choosing life imaginable and sustainable. Join us for a grounded, honest look at strategy, culture, and hope. 3. Vaccines, Your Body, and Loving Your Neighbor with Dr. Rob Balza

Vaccines, Your Body, and Loving Your Neighbor with Dr. Rob Balza

What if the story of vaccines is really a story about protecting what we value most? We sit down with biomedical researcher Dr. Rob Balza to chart the arc from smallpox variolation to today’s mRNA platforms, then push past headlines to the data that actually changes lives. Along the way, we face the hard questions Christians are asking: how do we balance stewardship of our bodies with love for immunocompromised neighbors? What does “personal choice” mean when disease spreads before symptoms? And how do we weigh decades of clinical evidence against the pull of a compelling anecdote? We break the science down clearly. Attenuated and “old school” vaccines trained the immune system with weakened pathogens; mRNA vaccines use a temporary set of instructions so your cells make a single target protein, prompting immunity without the virus itself. We unpack trial results showing early high efficacy against infection, strong and durable protection against severe disease, and shorter infectious periods that can reduce spread. We also talk openly about waning antibodies, evolving variants, and why expectations should adapt as the virus changes. Trust is the other half of the story. We examine how mixed messaging about masks, politicized guidance, and recycled myths—like the debunked vaccine-autism claim—fractured public confidence. Then we turn to a sensitive ethical concern: fetal-derived cell lines used in research. Dr. Balza explains moral proximity, timing, and intent, clarifying that vaccines don’t contain fetal tissue and that long-established lines don’t require new abortions. Through a Lutheran lens of vocation and providence, we explore how God often works through ordinary callings—clinicians, scientists, and citizens—to safeguard the vulnerable. Come for the history; stay for the clarity. You’ll leave with a grounded understanding of how vaccines work, how evidence should be weighed, and how faith can guide wise, neighbor-loving choices in a world where our decisions ripple outward.
