At The End Of The Day Week 1

Pastor Matt Grimm starts our new series on the book of Ecclesiastes called “At The End of The Day”. This sermon introduces a new series on the book of Ecclesiastes titled "At the End of the Day." Pastor Matt explores the meaning of the Hebrew word *hevel* (translated as "vanity"), explaining that it refers to a "vapor" or "mist"—something that is real and visible but impossible to grasp or control.  The core message is that because life under the sun is elusive, humans must stop turning God's good gifts (such as work, family, and health) into idols and instead place their ultimate trust in God alone. The preacher analyzes this elusiveness through three movements: 1.   **The Unending World:** The world continues long after individuals pass away, exposing the illusion of human indispensability. Pastor Matt notes that while we are not the center of the universe, we are held by an eternal God. 2.   **The Unrelenting World:** The repetitive cycles of nature and daily life expose the illusion that we can "finally get ahead" through constant achievement. Pastor Matt points to Christ as the source of true rest for weary souls. 3   **The Unfulfilling World:** Human desires are never fully satisfied by material things or experiences, exposing the illusion that achievement brings contentment. Pastor Matt argues that our restless hearts were made for God, not for the things of this world. The discussion concludes by presenting the Gospel: while Ecclesiastes highlights the futility of life "under the sun," Jesus entered that fleeting existence, faced death, and rose again to offer something lasting. www.cornerstonebrighton.com
