Persuasion by Doubt: Miscommunication, discommunication and fake news

In this episode of Talk Media to Me, PhD Council member Nele Kadastik (RU) talks to PhD candidate Yana van de Sande (RU) about misinformation, disinformation, and fake news — what they are, why they matter, and how they have shaped societies long before the internet. The conversation focuses on the psychology of doubt, exploring why people believe some claims and question others, and what this means for understanding misinformation today. The episode also covers recent research findings, future challenges, and practical ways to navigate an increasingly complex information environment.
