    3. The True Story of the 5,000 {Jennifer Hand - Mark 6:30-44}

    What should you do when you don’t have enough? Maybe you’re stressed out, overwhelmed or burned out, and you just don’t have enough to do what Jesus has assigned to you today. If that’s you, I’m glad you’re joining us for this episode, because we’re going to talk about a situation where Jesus’s disciples were feeling exactly like that.
    We’re discussing a story from Mark 6, where we’re going to see Jesus take what little the disciples have and multiply it, and I’m going to invite you to live like this story is true!

    The True Story of the Feeding of the Five Thousand is found in Mark 6:30-44. It's an astonishing story of not having enough and Jesus multiplying what they did have to satisfy everyone. How can we live like this story is true?

    Share the Story
    Were you amazed by you amazed by Jenn’s story about—in her missions training, going through the Stories of Hope Workbook? I compared sharing these Bible stories, one at a time, with leaving “bread crumbs” for her friend—which lead to Jesus.  Would you be willing to share just one story (a bread crumb?) with a friend who doesn’t yet know Jesus?  Pray for His direction.

    Live the Story
    How can we live like this story is true? Here are several ways:
    Up until this point, the disciples were passively watching the miracles, but now Jesus is inviting them to participate! Is there a situation God has placed you in, where you don't have enough? How is God inviting you to participate in a potential miracle? Jesus multiplied what they had. What little amount do you have? What is God asking you to place in his hands, knowing that He can multiply it if He wants? Do you feel embarrassed or inadequate about how little you have of something? How does Jenn’s beans and rice story inspire you to trust God? Thanks so much for listening! Did you enjoy this episode? What ideas ideas do you have for future episodes or future guests?     2. The True Story At the Well {Mary DeMuth - John 4:1-29}

    What are you thirsty for? What’s the habit or person or behavior you’ve returned to repeatedly—always dipping your bucket and yet coming up dry? And what difference should it make that Jesus has offered you his living water?
    On Season One of Live Like It’s True, we’re discussing the true stories of Jesus. On episode 2, I'm so honored to have as my guest Mary DeMuth, to talk about the True Story at the Well.
    Guest: Mary DeMuth

    The true story of the Woman at the Well is found in John 4:1-30 of your Bible. (Please note that in the broadcast, Mary is using the NLT and I thought I was using the NLT, but actually I was reading from the ESV. Sorry about that confusion!)
    It's the true story of a Samaritan woman who had the longest recorded theological conversation with Jesus in the Bible. I hope you'll be amazed by the approachableness of Jesus and his thirst-quenching water, and then I hope you'll live like the story is true.

    Live the Story
    Here are some ways to live like this story from John 4 is true.
    When Jesus said, “Go get your husband," it was because he wanted to have a forthright conversation with the woman at the well about her sin and her thirst. I shouldn't try to hide something from Jesus, because he already knows. What do I need to have an honest conversation with him about? Jesus revealed to the woman that He was the Messiah and it changed everything for her. How have I responded to the Messiah? Have I bent my knee, and lived like it’s true that He is the Anointed One of God?Shownotes for all the resources shared can be found at here .

    1. The True Story on the Roof {Kelly Needham - Mark 2:1-12}

    Would you be willing to carry your friend up onto a roof, to get her to Jesus? What if praying for your friend is the equivalent of bringing her—on a stretcher—to Jesus?
    Stories of Jesus
    Welcome to Episode one of Live Like It’s True! In this first season, we’re focusing on the True Stories of Jesus. In this episode, I'm joined by Kelly Needham to discuss the True Story on The Roof! It's the story of the paralytic, whose four friends carried him on a stretcher and dug up a roof to lower him down to Jesus. My hope is that you’ll be amazed by this story of healing and forgiveness, then live like it’s true.

    Live the Story
    Does your friend need breakthrough today, either for a physical or spiritual ailment? Do you? How can you live like this story is true? We talked about several ways:
    If sin is the biggest problem of my life (which this story points to), and if that problem has been dealt with, shouldn't I have hope that God can deal with my smaller problems, too? If Jesus is the answer, here's what I must ask myself today: How can I use my creativity, determination and ingenuity to get my friend to Jesus? Praying for my friend is like bringing her on a stretcher to Jesus. This is a way of activating my faith and perhaps having the honor of participating in my friend's spiritual or physical breakthrough! How will I prioritize praying for her today?What did you think?

    About MeGet my "Live Like It's True" EmailsInstagramFacebookTwitterThe Story the Bible Tells

    I started falling in love with this story--this truer, overarching story, when I was just a little girl. My dad has pictures that I drew, sitting in church listening to the sermon and trying to make sense of it all. In my basement I have some of the Bible story books that my parents read to me when I was small, and when I look at the pages, I remember how I was drawn to those stories. Still today, when I open my Bible, I find it satisfying and clarifying.
    But I need lots of reminders, and I’m guessing you do to. That’s why - whether I’m sharing words on a page or a platform or from behind this podcast microphone, it’s my goal to always invite you to open God’s word with me, drink in the richness of the story, and then live like the story is true.

Loving To Tell The Story

As a children’s minister, I am constantly working to learn how to tell these stories…true stories…of the Word in ways that will inspire and impact the kids in the room as well as our adult leaders! I cannot tell you how excited I was when I saw that Shannon was beginning a podcast! I joined an online ladies Bible Study led by my friend, Temeah during the pandemic. We have done Control Girl and Comparison Girl…both were absolutely amazing stories! Thank you Shannon for leading in the ministry of telling the stories of the Bible and challenging us to live like it’s true! Thank you fir all your hard work and investment in so many! God has used your Bible Studies and now podcast to teach me and help my hunger for the Word!
