Ep. 83 - Wayside School is Falling Down

This morning’s episode Anna and Austin review and discuss the 2001 Children’s Chapter book Wayside School is Falling Down and It was written by Louis Sachar. Similar to Sideways Stories from Wayside School, the chapters follow an episodic nature, following the various students and teachers at Wayside School, though a few adjustments are made to the formula. Some chapters, like "Pigtails," "Kathy and D.J.," and "Teeth" focus on multiple students to make way for story arcs for Allison and the new student Benjamin Nushmutt. Aside from Benjamin, new characters like Mr. Kidswatter are introduced, establishing new character dynamics. For the most part, though, the book largely features the same format. This morning’s episode Anna and Austin review and discuss the 1978 children’s chapter book Sideways Stories from Wayside School which was voted on by our patrons. It was written by Louis Sachar. There was a terrible mistake - Wayside School was built with one classroom on top of another, thirty stories high (The builder said he was sorry.) Maybe that's why all kinds of funny things happened at Wayside-especially on the thirteenth floor.
