Connecting with God: Scripture, Prayer, and the Secret Place

What does it actually look like to build a sustainable, everyday relationship with God? Too often, our spiritual disciplines get reduced to rigid checklists, duty-driven routines, or an endless search for emotional goosebumps. When dry seasons hit, we assume God is distant, silent, or disappointed in our lack of consistency. In this message, Pastor Josh unpacks the two most vital, practical rhythms of the Christian walk: connecting with God through His Word and in prayer. Real transformation doesn't come from sheer willpower; it comes from having your soul anchored in the reality that Jesus desires to be with you. When Scripture becomes your daily bread and prayer shifts from a religious duty to a conversation in the secret place, the lesser pleasures of this world lose their grip to an abiding, superior delight. In this episode, we unpack: John 17:24–26: The High Priestly Prayer—anchoring your confidence in Jesus' eternal longing for you to be with Him and to experience the same love the Father has for the Son.Matthew 6:5–7: The Father in the secret place. Moving past performative religion and discovering the guarantee that God sees, hears, and openly rewards those who shut the door to seek Him.Hebrews 10:19–23: Access bought by blood. How Jesus' torn flesh opened the Holy of Holies, granting us bold, unhindered entry before the throne of grace.Matthew 4:4 & Isaiah 55:1–3: God’s Word as actual nourishment. Moving beyond academic study to taste and see the living bread and water that genuinely satisfies deep spiritual hunger.Luke 24:27 & John 5:37–40: Reading the Bible relationally. Why accumulating head knowledge means nothing if the scriptures don't lead us to the Person of Jesus.Navigating Dryness and Distraction: Practical wisdom for fighting boredom, overcoming comparison, setting intentional rhythms, and honoring God even when you feel spiritually dry.Revelation 5:8 & 8:3–5: The eternal weight of prayer—why no whispered cry or honest petition is wasted, but kept as sweet incense before the throne. Whether you feel stuck in a dry rut, struggle with consistency, or simply want to approach prayer and Scripture without guilt, this teaching provides a practical, gospel-centered foundation for drawing near to the God who is already near to you.

4 Building Blocks for Your New Identity in Christ

Who are you, really? When asked about our identity, most of us naturally default to our titles, roles, relationship statuses, or giftings—student, artist, mom, pastor, or leader. Even as believers, we often say our identity is "in Christ," yet still find ourselves feeling lost, insecure, or constantly wandering. In this message, minister Isis Underwood breaks down a biblically ordered framework for establishing our true worth. Contrary to cultural thinking, identity is not defined by what we do, how unique we make ourselves, or the platform we build. When we confuse our vocation with our foundation, any missed opportunity, failed class, or dormant season can shatter our sense of purpose. Discover how aligning your life to God's divine order anchors your soul in unshakeable security. In this episode, we unpack: The 4 Building Blocks of Identity: Why God's order—Creation, Salvation, Transformation, and Action/Vocation—matters, and the danger of jumping straight from creation to action.Genesis 1:26–28 (Creation): Inherent dignity and the imago Dei. Why your value was permanently established before you ever earned a degree, landed a job, or displayed a single recognizable gift.1 Peter 2:4–8 (Salvation): Christ as the Chief Cornerstone. How true salvation acts as the foundational reference point that stabilizes and orients every decision, thought, and affection.1 Peter 2:5 (Transformation): Living stones in a spiritual house. Embracing biblical uniqueness within the body of Christ without falling into the worldly trap of isolated individualism.1 Peter 2:9 (Holy Priesthood & Spiritual Sacrifices): Operating as the temple, the priest, and the living sacrifice—and recognizing our shared, communal mandate to proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness.Deconstructing Disordered Identity: Overcoming the subtle lie of tying your worth to public ministry, career milestones, or seasonal roles, and learning how to faithfully build God's kingdom wherever He places you. Whether you're struggling with burnout, navigating a hidden season where your gifts feel unused, or re-evaluating your life's direction, this teaching provides a grounded, biblical blueprint for building a life that cannot be shaken.

God’s Desire to Be Known (The Character of God)

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the character of God? In the kickoff message of our Get Rooted series, Pastor Josh dives into the foundational truth of the Christian walk: the character of God and His intentional desire to be known. Eternal life is not merely about escaping punishment—it is an invitation into deep, experiential intimacy with the Creator who intentionally placed you, pursues you, and calls you His inheritance. When your view of God shifts from religious obligation to delighting in an inexhaustible, holy, and faithful Father, boredom breaks, identity solidifies, and your soul finds an anchor capable of enduring any storm. In this episode, we unpack: Acts 17:22–28: God’s intentionality in designing times, places, and boundaries so that humanity would seek Him, reach out, and find Him. Job 36:26: The beauty of an inexhaustible God—why seeking Him never grows boring, mundane, or fully tapped out. Romans 1:16–21: The revelation of God's righteousness through the gospel, general revelation in creation, and the danger of suppressing the truth. 1 Corinthians 2:9–12 & Ephesians 1:17–18: Intimacy through the Holy Spirit and the staggering reality that believers are God’s prized possession and inheritance. Jeremiah 9:23–24 & John 17:3: True boasting—why knowing and understanding God’s heart and delights is the very definition of eternal life. The Three Battlefields: Navigating spiritual warfare across internal brokenness, external cultural compromises, and the enemy's foundational lie: "Did God really say?" Whether you’re wrestling with dry spiritual disciplines, cultural pressure, or simply longing to know your Creator on a deeper level, this message lays the groundwork for building a healthy, holistic faith that never graduates from the core foundation: Jesus Christ.
