    Episode 16 - Sub-Lowbrow Tarot

Welcome to the lowbrow episode, where the drinks and the cards align with our substandard bartending, tarot reading, and humor. The Drink - Drinks don’t get much more basic than the Boilermaker. When your week has been too crappy for beer to do the job … too crappy to want to spend the time mixing up something interesting and complicated … too crappy to have more than one whiskey because you just know that wouldn’t be a good idea … then your week has been just crappy enough for a Boilermaker. One shot of whiskey. One beer. There are two ways to make the boilermaker. One is to drop a shot glass full of whiskey into a pint glass of beer. The other is a shot of whiskey, followed separately by sipping on the beer. In our Lowbrow Episode, we opted for this second version of the Boilermaker. The Cards - The lowbrow movement was an underground visual art movement that developed in Los Angeles in the late 1960s, with roots in punk music and street culture. It’s art with a sense of humor that is sarcastic and somewhat impish. The Lowbrow Tarot Deck reflects the LA Lowbrow Art movement. The deck consists of 22 Major Arcana cards. The artwork is a collaboration of 23 artists, who each produced cards in their own unique style. Each artist’s website is included if you want to view more of their creations. The artwork is interesting, but the readings felt limited without the Minor Arcana. We’d love it if you’d give us a like and a follow, and leave us a comment. Do you have a question you’d like us to ask the cards? Let us know. May your week be filled with peace, love, joy, and a little tipsy tarot. Kris & Jack

    Episode 13 - Jingle Juicing

Hey there, you adult beverage and tarot card loving people. In episode 13 we celebrate the Yule Season divinely, with a beverage that will make you jingle all the way home. The Drink If you are interested in a simple, flavorful, and beautiful make-ahead holiday punch for your guests this season, Jingle Juice fits the bill nicely. This punch includes Whipped Vodka, Sparkling Rose, and Cherry 7-Up with a cranberry garnish. The recipe serves sixteen. Since we’re not the biggest fans of sweet drinks, we added a dash of Luxardo to enhance the cherry flavor. The website that published this cocktail has a number of other fun holiday drinks that look worth trying. The Cards The Tarot of the Divine seemed like a suitable deck for a time of year that is celebrated by many cultures and religions. This deck is inspired by deities, folklore, and fairy tales from around the world. It’s beautifully illustrated with rich, vibrant images accompanied by an instructional book that explains how the fables support traditional tarot imagery and themes. The guidebook is full-color and gives explanations of the folk and fairy tales behind each card. We were impressed with the diversity of the folklore used in the deck. It spans the globe. If you are a folklore fan, you will likely really enjoy this deck. The cardstock is fairly thick and textured and shuffles well and the book is colorful and concise. The deck comes in a sturdy box that seems like it would stand up to a lot of use and storage. We’d love it if you’d give us a like and a follow, and leave us a comment. Do you have a question you’d like us to ask the cards? Let us know. May our week be filled with peace, love, joy, and a little tipsy tarot.
