    Do Short-Term Rental Bans Lower Home Values? Summit County Data 2019–2026

    Candice De digs into five years of Summit County MLS data to answer a question a lot of buyers and sellers have been asking: does the ability to short-term rent a property actually move its resale value? Using the county's STR zone map she created, Candice compares sale prices of properties that can be licensed for short-term rental against those that can't — before and after the 2022–2023 regulation changes — broken out by single family homes, townhomes/duplexes, and condos, and by town (Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon). The short version: yes, it matters, and for attached properties (townhomes, duplexes, condos) it matters a lot — gaps of 50–100% depending on the town and property type.
