Episode 15 | Deep House & Deep Chats with Emma Champion

We’re back with our 15th episode for our podcast series now entitled “Deep House & Deep Chats”! For this episode we’re excited to have fellow Deep House lover, Emma Champion, provide us with an exclusive guest mix and interview or “Deep Chat”. During the "Deep Chat" Emma talks about the impact our favourite genre has on her where, for her, Deep House not can only takes you deep within but can act as a form of therapy. She also talks about her love for vinyl, some of her favourite artists and tracks, and more. With the chat being introspective in nature, it really caused us to ponder: what it is that draws human beings to certain genres what does this say about us, if anything? What do you think? Bio: Emma Champion has been a vinyl DJ for about 20 years. With her first love being UK Garage, she started off by playing for DejaVu FM which ignited a passion for pirate radio and a DJ career that has seen Emma play locally in London from intimate house parties to promotions such as Backto95 at London Collesseum as well as abroad in Paris.    Whilst her musicality incorporates Jungle, Hardcore and Classic House when she "feels to". Emma's love has evolved into Deep House and you can can catch her playing on Grant Nelson's d3ep.com radio station with a weekly Deep House radio show every Thursday from 6-8pm (GMT). Her love for Deep House is of course the focus of this episode and is part 1 of our interview and discussion with Emma the subject.  Look out for part 2 where we’ll be delving deeper into the psychological and physical impact of certain Deep House tracks. Episode 14 | Be At Ease | The CoDH Mix Series

Is there a relationship between (being at) ease and dis-ease? The question posed itself during a period of intense stress. One occurrence after another leading to a prolonged tensing of the body. Perhaps the shoulders and arms are tight, the forehead scrunched, the stomach held in. Perhaps its elsewhere or all over whatever the case what can help, what can elevate the tension and introduce a feeling of ease? As I sit at my desk, it comes to mind that certain tracks, that are deep, drawn out like long in and out breaths cause a relaxing of the body…a releasing of tension and self resulting in a sinking deeper into one’s body, one’s pocket, one’s home, one’s church and a feeling of ease…being at ease, True ease for me feels joyous and so, as I journey through the drawn out tracks, conscious of breath and the act of breathing, a physical relaxation followed by a psychological relaxation ensues and glimmers of joy begins to seep through. This is ease…my body and self loves this ease. I am at ease for now. Track List: 1. OFFline (Original Mix) by Deepofomin [MixCult Digital] 2. Thaw (DP-6) Deep Space Remix [DP-6 Records] 3. Episode 11 - On The Edge | The CoDH Mix Series

The precursor to the founding of "The Church of Deep House" as a music space dedicated to that pure deep house sound, "On The Edge" was curated and mixed by Farrah DJ in 2021 as her sound evolved toward a more underground and pure deep house sound as a result of being introduced to new artists and labels. With a warm, dubby groove that is not too light and yet not too heavy this mix soundtracks the sentiment that accompanies that hiatus between the end of the day and the start of your evening... It is that time of day where the sun is about to set and a deep golden hue covers everything as far as the eye can see. That's my favourite part of the day actually. It’s that point in time where the major activities of the day are done or nearly over with and there is a sense of satisfaction at their completion. The mind-body-soul nourished by the sunlight, content with all that is, experiences the hiatus between the end of the day and the beginning of that nights proceedings; whatever that may entail. It is the point where the day relaxes into itself as an accordion relaxes into itself as it is slowly compressed. And everything looks golden, feels golden, is golden; life at this point is golden for me. Track List: 01. Lihue- Into Reality (Original Mix) 02. Satore - Walscheart Valve Gear (Original Mix) 03.
