During the interview, we talked about the signs that it may be time to seek additional postpartum support and what that can look like for new moms as they adjust to life with a newborn. Throughout our conversation, we also share personal stories from our own postpartum experiences and journeys as new moms. We talk about some of the challenges we faced, the lessons we learned, and the support that helped us along the way. As you prepare for your baby’s arrival or adjust to life after birth, this conversation offers support and encouragement. It is meant to help you feel confident, supported, and excited about your postpartum journey. Tune in to learn how postpartum doulas can support you during the journey of postpartum. About Kristin Smith Kristin Smith is the founder of Well Supported Family, a newborn care and postpartum support agency with a national presence that connects families with experienced caregivers during the early stages of parenthood. She began her career as a professional nanny, and in 2008, she was named Nanny of the Year by Family Helpers, and the following year she was selected as a finalist for ABC’s America’s Supernanny. After becoming a mother herself at just 19, Kristin experienced firsthand how emotional and demanding the postpartum period can be, and how critical it is for parents to feel supported during that time. Motivated by that experience, she trained as a birth and postpartum doula in 2009 and then founded Nightingale Night Nurses in 2015. She later expanded the agency nationally, rebranded to Well Supported Family, and has since grown into a multi-million dollar agency, serving thousands of families per year in 14 states and counting. Kristin also serves as Executive Director of the Newborn Care Specialist Association, where she supports initiatives around education, certification, professional standards, and industry regulation.
