16 | Real Estate Investing: What I Learned About Money, Risk, and Peace of Mind

For the longest time, I thought real estate was one of those investments na you can't really go wrong with. Buy land, buy a house, magpa-rent ka. Build wealth. Right? But after buying property, dealing with developers and paperwork, taking out bank loans, and managing rental properties, I've realized that real estate may not be the right investment for me. In this episode, I'm sharing my personal experiences and the biggest lessons I've learned from investing in real estate in the Philippines, including a property investment in Silang, Cavite that taught me a lot about risk, uncertainty, and the true cost of owning property. We talk about: The hidden costs of owning real estate Why rental properties aren't always as passive as they seem My experience with property documents, developers, and uncertainty How changing interest rates affected my bank loans Why I want to pay off my loans and be more cautious about debt Understanding your risk tolerance and knowing which risks you're willing to take Why a profitable investment isn't always the right investment for you More than anything, this episode is about rethinking what wealth means to me. I'm learning that I don't necessarily want more assets if they come with more stress, debt, and responsibilities. Because maybe the goal isn't just to make more money. Maybe it's to build a life where your money gives you more choices, more flexibility, and more peace of mind. This is my personal experience, not financial advice. Real estate can be a great investment for others, but I'm learning to choose investments that align with my own priorities and the life I want to live.
