How to get more out of your Christian walk

20th September - Pastor Ben Ma - Go Deeper! In this week’s message, “Go Deeper,” we explore Jesus’ call to Peter in Luke 5 to leave the safety of the shoreline and move into deeper water.God is inviting us into something deeper — deeper intimacy with Him, deeper obedience, deeper surrender and deeper love for one another. Knowing about God is not the same as knowing Him. As we grow closer to Jesus, that relationship should transform the way we forgive, serve, love and care for the people around us.Using Peter’s miraculous catch of fish, we discover that going deeper sometimes means trusting Jesus when His instruction doesn’t make sense, surrendering our need for control and responding simply: “Because You say so, I will.”The invitation is simple: there is more. Go deeper.Scripture references:Luke 5:1–11Psalm 42:1Matthew 22:37–39John 13:35Philippians 2:6–8Subscribe to stay connected with Destiny Church Wakefield and join us for more worship, teaching and encouragement.

    30th August 2026 - Apostle Ian - Salvation

This Sunday at Destiny Church, we worship together and hear a message all about Salvation — what it means to be saved, what Jesus has done for us, and the difference salvation makes to our lives.Salvation isn’t about religion, earning God’s approval or simply attending church. It is about entering into a real, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through His life, death and resurrection, Jesus secured salvation for us through grace — a gift that we receive through faith. We discover that we are not only saved from sin, judgement and separation from God, but we are also saved for something: life, peace, joy, purpose and destiny. Salvation isn't only about where we go when we die; it transforms our lives here and now.Through the story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16, we're reminded that even in difficult circumstances, God remains our Saviour and rescuer. Their response in prison was to praise God, trusting that somehow He would bring them through. The message finishes with a challenge: Do you know that you are saved? And for those who have lost the excitement they once had in following Jesus, the prayer of Psalm 51 becomes personal again: “Restore to me the joy of your salvation.”

23rd August 2026 - Pastor Wesley Critchley - Atmosphere Changer

This Sunday at Destiny Church, we worship together and hear a powerful message, “Atmosphere Changer.”We’re reminded that we don’t have to be controlled by the circumstances around us. Through faith, prayer, worship, God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can carry the presence of God into every situation. The message challenges us to stop focusing only on what we can see, place our expectations in God, stop magnifying our problems and start magnifying God.Rather than simply reacting to fear, disappointment or difficult circumstances, we can choose faith and speak in agreement with God’s Word.Jesus calls us to be the light of the world — carrying His peace into conflict, His hope into darkness and His presence wherever we go. Before God changes the atmosphere around us, He often wants to begin by changing what is happening within us.

16th August 2026 - Pastor Ben Ma - Building a Throne of Praise

This Sunday at Destiny Church, we gathered for worship, prayer and a message centred on praise and putting God in His rightful place in our lives. The service included prayer for those facing difficult circumstances, a special prayer of blessing for baby Laura and her family, church news, giving, and a time of worship focused on the majesty and holiness of Jesus.Preach — Building a Throne of PraiseThe message, “Building a Throne of Praise,” explored what it really means to live a life of praise. Praise isn't simply singing songs in church; it's an everyday attitude that acknowledges who God is and remembers that Jesus is already King and already seated on the throne.Rather than praising God only when things are going well or because we want something from Him, we're called to praise Him simply because He is worthy. Praise shifts our focus away from ourselves and the other things we can be tempted to put our hope in, and back onto Jesus. The message highlighted five ways praise changes us and our perspective:Praise prevents selfishness — it takes our eyes off ourselves and puts them onto Jesus.Praise is a battle plan — throughout Scripture, God's people praised Him in the middle of battles and impossible situations.Praise replaces negativity and complaining — thanksgiving reminds us of God's goodness even when circumstances are difficult.Praise leads us into an awareness of God's presence — God is already with us, but praise helps us recognise and focus on Him.Praise makes room for the miraculous — like Paul and Silas praising in prison, we can praise God before our circumstances change. The challenge is simple: make the decision to praise the Lord in every situation and make Jesus Lord of every part of your life.

9th August 2026 - Apostle Ian Critchley - Stay In Tune

Just like an instrument needs to be tuned to produce the right sound, our lives need to stay in tune with God.In this message, we look at three areas of our lives that need regular attention:1. Tune Your HeartGuard your heart and don't allow fear, worry, bitterness or discouragement to determine the song of your life. Instead, tune your heart to God's truth, peace and goodness.2. Tune Your TalkOur words have the power of life and death. What comes out of our mouths often reveals what's happening in our hearts, so we're called to speak words that encourage, build up and are full of grace.3. Tune Your WalkFollowing Jesus isn't just about what we believe on a Sunday; it changes the way we live every day. We're called to walk by the Spirit, follow God's direction and live differently because we belong to Him.Sometimes we don't realise how far out of tune we've become. Rather than expecting God to adjust to us, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to continually retune our hearts, our words and our lives to Him.Keep your heart in tune. Keep your talk in tune. Keep your walk in tune.
