Tori & Bec - Peaches Pilates

Join us for your weekly DnM: this podcast is not about fitness. It's a collection of stories and conversations with some of the most inspiring people we know. After spending years in our Peaches Pilates studios, waking women up in the tender hours of the morning, and winding them down at night, Tori and Bec have facilitated the kind of conversations that are often only had in the safe harbour of your sisterhood network. Here, we give them a new life - this is The Peaches Podcast.

  1. Delia Donovan on coercive control

    Delia Donovan on coercive control

We are so honored to welcome the final guest for season 4 of the Peaches Podcast - CEO at Domestic Violence NSW - Delia Donovan. In this episode, we sit down to discuss the alarmingly prevalent issue of coercive control and men's violence against women in Australia. Yes, we're no longer sugar coating it with labels like family violence or domestic violence. We're calling it what it is. Statistics tell us that every week, a woman is murdered by a man in Australia. The numbers are terrifying, and if a human being was killed weekly in our country by any other mode - say terrorism, a shark attack, a f*****g faulty iphone that explodes - whatever, the country would be in complete uproar. Yet still, we as a society seem to struggle to address this issue without wanting to bury our heads in the sand, change the subject or not bother those around you with ‘heavy’ subjects of conversation. But we've had enough of that b******t, and Tori wanted to facilitate a conversation about it within the Peaches networks.TW - this episode discusses violence and coercive control. 2. Maz Compton on going sober

    Maz Compton on going sober

You might have heard the name Maz Compton over the years - that’s because Maz is a bit of an Aussie great when it comes to media - she’s been a personality in the space for over 12 years - with experience in radio, TV and online media. But what you might not know is that Maz battled with her relationship with booze… with regular drinks and parties stock standard in the media scene, drinking high volumes, often, was not only accepted but encouraged. Soon, Maz noticed that booze had become a coping mechanism for stress - before slowly creeping towards a dependence. If this sounds familiar, listen up Peachy, because this episode is for you. We love the way Maz isn’t afraid to ‘have the conversation’ around drinking - within Australia, it’s basically a glorified answer to everything from celebrations, stress relief, practically any social engagement and for many - is simply routine. But why is it that our ears prick up, and our irritations arise when a mate turns you down for a drink at the pub? Are our reactions to someone ‘going sober’ or even just ‘taking a break’ from the booze a little judgemental, and perhaps unhelpful? Especially when we remember that alcohol, whether we like it or not, is actually a toxin that screws with our sleep, moods, weight and overall health? 3. Gillian Cosgriff on what it's like to be cast in Harry Potter

Gillian Cosgriff on what it's like to be cast in Harry Potter

Our final episode of season three of the Peaches Poddy welcomes the truly enchanting Gillian Cosgriff - an award-winning musical comedian, actor, writer, composer and self-confessed pessimist. Tori sat down with Gill to find out exactly what it takes to be a part of a professional theatre ensemble - from the audition process, the grueling training and rehearsal schedules, performing the same show night after night and - when a global pandemic hits - to have your dream job torn away from you in a matter of moments. This episode will have you giggling non stop, and will also give you a newfound appreciation for the incredible service those who work in the arts provide for the general public. Tori and Gill also touch on the concept of 'body neutrality', and how finding a reason to stay strong and fit as an adult has evolved for them both. Psst! A big fan of Gill? WE ARE TOO! You can support her by checking out her latest comedy festival show: Actually, Good. Within this show, Gillian makes her long-awaited return to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (after three years starring in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), with her hilarious original songs, killer stand-up and a big book of things that are actually good. This is a show about stuff you like – all the little things that make the big hard things manageable - and pointing at the bits of the world that make you want to yell, “Oh WOW! Look at this! Isn’t it great?” OUR LOVELY GUEST: @gilliancosgriff LET'S GET PEACHY: Train with us online - peachespilates.com/peaches-online Train with us in studio - peachespilates.com/studios Follow us - @peachespilates, @toriclapham
