    WON DESPITE THE REF! | Aston Villa 1-3 Newcastle United | FA Cup Reaction​What a chaotic night at Villa Park! Newcastle United marched into the FA Cup fifth round with a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa, but the real story was the shocking refereeing. With no VAR in operation for this fourth-round tie, the Magpies had to overcome both the opposition and a string of bizarre officiating decisions to get the job done.The Offside Opener: Aston Villa took the lead in the 14th minute when Tammy Abraham swept home a free-kick. Replays clearly showed he was offside, but without VAR to intervene, the goal stood.​The Digne Incidents: Lucas Digne somehow escaped a red card for a high, studs-up challenge on Jacob Murphy. Later, Digne blatantly handled the ball well inside his own penalty area, but referee Chris Kavanagh inexplicably awarded a free-kick outside the box instead of a penalty.​Bizot Sees Red: The momentum finally shifted right before half-time when Villa goalkeeper Marco Bizot was shown a straight red card for a wild, rushing foul on Jacob Murphy.​Tonali & Woltemade to the Rescue: Newcastle made the extra man count in the second half.
