A good story with a great delivery
Delivered with gusto, panache, and passion by its author Matthew Ewald and cast, the Whispers in the Cries tells a disturbing tale of loss of sanity, love, desperation, and horror.
Despite a few technical issues scattered throughout the episodes, things like the sound mix occasionally overpowering the impassioned delivery, an accident with the rereading of sentences for a better delivery not being edited out, inconsistent sound quality and environments from episode to episode, and the most irksome issue of all, the linking problem within the Apple podcast app so that the episodes do not jump from one to the next one in series, but to random episodes, this was a rewarding, if not devastating experience. Devastating only with regard to the story’s protagonists, and the seemingly impossible position they find themselves in.
The minor technical issues can mostly be resolved in the future without much effort, and those not withstanding, I wholly recommend this audio drama. It was entertaining and constantly fun to hear Ewald work his craft and talent.
