Jesus Prayer and the Engel Scale

This powerful message challenges us to examine our role in the Great Commission through a surprisingly relatable lens: learning something completely new. Just as one might fumble through choosing a racehorse with nothing but a green book and some courage, we're invited to step into the uncomfortable space of sharing our faith with those around us. The core question echoes through every word: who are the people God has placed in our lives, and when was the last time we actually tried to share our faith with them? Drawing from Jesus's prayer in John 17, we discover that our unity as believers isn't just about getting alongit's the very mechanism through which the world comes to know Christ. The message introduces us to the Engel Scale, a tool that maps the spiritual journey from hostile unbeliever to mature disciple, helping us recognize where people are in their faith journey and how we can meet them there. What strikes deepest is the reminder that being a disciple and being a disciple-maker aren't separate callingsthey're one unified purpose. We're challenged to look beyond our comfortable Christian circles and ask ourselves: have we become isolated from the very people who need to hear about Jesus? The transformation isn't just about our own salvation; it's about recognizing that we've been strategically positioned in workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities to be faithful witnesses who help others take their next step toward Christ.

Disciple of Jesus - Part 2

This powerful message invites us into a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be disciples of Jesus Christ. At its core, we're challenged with a profound truth from John the Baptist: 'He must become greater, I must become less.' This isn't just a nice sentimentit's the very heartbeat of discipleship. We discover that our journey involves an ongoing battle between the flesh and the Spirit, as described in Galatians 5. The flesh constantly whispers lies, telling us to stay comfortable, to prioritize our small world, while the Spirit calls us to a kingdom perspective that sees beyond our immediate circumstances. We're reminded that the fruit of the Spiritlove, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-controlaren't just nice qualities to admire but are meant to mature and grow in us over time, becoming nourishment for others who encounter our lives. Alongside this fruit, we've been given specific gifts by the Holy Spirit, not just for our own benefit but to bless the church and transform the broken world around us. Perhaps most challenging is the call to embrace a kingdom perspective that lifts our eyes beyond our personal struggles to see God's global work, to value the church despite its imperfections, and to actively participate in making disciples. This message ultimately points us to Philippians 2:12-13, reminding us that God is creating in us both the longing and the ability to fulfill our unique purpose for His good pleasure.
